Gotta love when the person next to you is getting all the bites meanwhile you have the same exact rig as them lol. Happened to me yesterday! Seems like a nice day on the water anyway
I was out the other day with 4 rods in the water. 2 with herring and 2 with anchovies. I only had 8 herring with me and plenty of anchovies. We caught 6 keepers on herring in less than 2 hours. We ran out of herring and only caught 1 more keeper in 6 hours of fishing using anchovies. Herring was definitely the ticket for us.
Here’s another armchair theory regarding your frustrating keeper-less saga: On that particular day, the halibut (maybe baitfish too) were attracted to the kicker side of the boat, perhaps to investigate the combined commotion of noise and turbulence created by the prop. In the midst of their curious probes, those butts came across what they believed to be a free lunch. We all know there is no such thing…and now they know too.😎 Love the way you use arrows in your vids, plus your gaff skills are topnotch.
Hey Chris, good to see you on again. Yeah we have been getting some good ones in the bay. I had my tail fin system stop working on me few times. Went back to Jim and had to push on the piston to help it going then it worked. Have you had anything like this happen to you. What is the best way to connect with you. Thanks man and hope to see you out there
Last time I was out I fished herring all day and didn't get a scratch while everyone around me hooked up. Changed to a small anchovy and a minute later had a huge takedown. 🤷
yeah wierd how that is. Next time it might be an anchovy bite. The herring shines a little more. They probably have a different scent that get them going one day vs another. Then lastly the size. Thanks for watching
It sure will. Hopefully the rockfish and salmon come back to normal regulations in a year or two because there wont be many halibut and we will need to them rebound. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 I’d love a chance to fish with you brother! I’m a chef living in Oakland and fishing every minute I’m not in a kitchen.. love your content and think we’d get along 💯
I get better luck trolling in the bay with a salmon rod like what game uses because I think it’s softer tip it causes more of an up and down bounce that they seem to like. All graphite rods might be a bit to stiff in action. Try bringing out one of your g-loomis rod for salmon next time.
@@Quackk_Addict ya call fish and game ask them about boat limit vs personal limit if after you hit your limit if you can continue fishing for the boat limit
California adopted boat limits so In this case each angler can 3 halibut with no more the 6 in possession on the boat . It used to be that once you limited then you had to “ sit down” but the other person could be fishing for Stripped Bass.
@@saltycoffin436 yeaa that's what I thought, they always make the pdf file for regulation hard to get any answers, just like out the gate you can have a bunch of rods but only for halibut, I can never find that regulation either.. pisses me off trying to find shit
what he did is different. Look up the rules on "boat limits" If you go on a paid charter you would see thats what all the boats do and its spelled out on dfg website. Thanks for watching
I fished for years out of Port San Luis for Halibut . We kept the butts in the live wells and sold them live. Those were the good Ol' days!
sounds fun, thanks for watching
Lmao that stingray smiled at you when you complimented his nub 😂😂🤣🤣
Dude! You been missing in action. Glad to see a new "Videooo's" again.

Thanks for watching, yeah just one of those days.
Wow, you're catching halibut that close from shore.
Sick
Thanks for sharing, this gets me excited to get out there and catch some fish!
Nice job Chris cool comparison! We went last week, we only got bit on the anchovy! We were a bit south of where you are at. Interesting!
Chris is bringing the great video again!
Thanks for watching!
Great Video! We were out on Saturday. Had a lot of fun.
In my last 2 trips out of 20 fish landed only 1 was a short. I'll be back out Saturday.
Thats what I was saying and then the shorties wanted to make sure I knew they were around. Thanks for watching
The harring is bigger and makes more commotion as it spins while trolling.

I have never heard of people trolling for halibut, I would imagine striper , salmon or even rock cod . Well i watch and see how its done.
Good to meet you out there. Earliest I ever caught my limit.
Great job AL!
That was a fun video, entertaining as always Chris! Alonso
I appreciate it, thanks!

I appreciate you taking the time the leave the comment and watching. Yeah they sure liked the motor side that day...
Was up I seen you about 2 weeks ago. In the south. There was about 100 boats
As always, great video quality.
I appreciate it, thanks!

Thanks for watching, I havent had any issues with my tailfin yet. I have my email and ig info in the description of the video.
Man it’s one of those days only one side getting all the action lol great video
i know, wrong side... dang it haha
@@ChrisPfish2 what’s funny I went out Sunday and only the right side was getting action lol maybe you should make a video about that

Nice trip 👌 what did the remote steering on you're kicker cost?
It was $800-900 2-3 years ago. Its called a tailfin. I got it from reel custom boat works in stockton, ca Thanks for watching
Great video Chris. Sad to see no salmon fishing this season😢
yeah its a bummer. Hopefully we get one next year 🤞🤞 thanks for watching
Hey cris was that a sparkling green flasher, with chartreuse

Nice and done Chris, just curious, have you made any money out of your views on TH-cam?
yeah youtube starts paying once you reach 1000 subs and 4k watch hours. Thanks for watching
Curious.... were the herring and anchovies frozen?
yes, herring caught by me 2 months earlier, anchovies from a tray. thanks for watching
Stick baits out fished herring 9 to three Im done using bait lures is were its at ...
I guess that’s why it’s called fishing and not catching😅… better luck next time. Still an awesome day out there.
Match the hatch if herring has been around thats what there going to bite the best
Salmons closed and rockcods wack, add the influx of kayakers and that poor halibut fishery is going to get beat ta death.
It sure will. Hopefully the rockfish and salmon come back to normal regulations in a year or two because there wont be many halibut and we will need to them rebound. Thanks for watching
what day did you fish
Where do you buy your herring when you buy them
watch 7 videos back from this one on my channel. I catch them. Thanks for watching
Gabe didnt let you bring even one fish….I know whose not gonna be invited back for a while….

can someone explain why he gaffed 4 fish? I thought he actually had to reel in since that dude already had 3 fish..I thought you had to pull a rod too
Boat limits you can continue fishing both rods until you have boat limits
@@saltycoffin436 that's what I read in the regulations awhile ago but people kept giving me different answers, do you know where I can find that?

The other day I learned from Big Z Fishing, you’re not aloud to give fish away. I had no clue but I guess it’s good to know.
