The phase 4 boards are really a contender now. Simple and fun. Most of all the sound output on them is gnarly. We are so spoiled now in this hobby for soundboard options lol
@@sentientmeat8975 Hey man there is no judgment here from anyone looking for info. And while sound boards do matter to an extent with how much audio they can push, some better than others, The speaker does also make a big difference for sure but what good sound in a saber really comes down to is the sound resonance. Basically if you install a saber well and the speaker is attached well and all gaps are closed and you have a good pommel for a resonance chamber, you will have the best chance for great sound quality. There are a lot of factors. Proffie seems to be able to push sound the best and I would say the ghv3 phase 4 boards are second to that. I am a big CFX fan and you can get great sound of it if all things are optimal like I said above but that would be my order for sound quality from a board. Proffie, ghv3 (phase 4board) CFX, then verso. Hope that helps.
Glad to see a video about the GH, couldn't come at a better time. Just bought my first saber (an LGT) but had to get a Golden Harvest since LGT isn't doing Proffies for the foreseeable future, from what I understand anyway. My friend who got me interested in sabers only uses Proffie, so he couldn't tell me much about GH, but it looks like a pretty solid choice 🙂
Just remember, he has updated his saber to a neopixel, with the GH soundboard. If you just buy a saber from SaberForge, in Champion or Hero Pixel, it will only be a CREE LED and not a neopixel. Being a novice lightsaber enthusiast myself, I was kind of disappointed that SaberForge does not offer neopixel sabers.
Hi. I really appreciate the review because like one of the comments I read,I too am an old dog and not computer savvy. I am how ever a huge fan of the Star Wars saga. I attended the original first film at the time was titled Star Wars but now titled A New Hope. Lightsabers is what caught my eye in the original film and I've had the first toy one's and let me tell you, they've come a long way since then especially the Golden Harvest sound board. I just purchased my first with this board from Vaders Sabers, the hilt being "The Chosen One" Anakins first saber. So thank you for the review, most helpful, it is. Sincerely Qui Don Xin.
Amazing sound board I used ti be a plecter fanboy but now I really only use this board , it’s reasonably priced , has a ton of cool features , it’s easy ti use and as an installer it’s such a joy to work with its so easy to solder up . I look forward to seeing what updates come in the future of this sound board
I'm rebuilding my first custom saber to be a neopixel style instead of a tri-cree setup, and I was looking at the Golden Harvest v3 as a replacement soundboard. This will be the first neopixel saber I've owned or built. This video has helped me decide that this is definitely the soundboard I'll be using. Now I just need to get the new parts and adjust my designs to accomodate the new parts. I am curious though. Did the saber in this video have an auxiliary switch, or was this saber a single button design?
I like it way better than the Proffie just because it's a lot more user friendly than the Proffie. I know Proffie is more customizable than the GHv3, but you have to really know what you're doing & hook it to a computer to get access to most of the features. You can customize the GHv3 mostly from your hand except for a few things you usually don't use that much, like the length of the blade for the effects, if you want some super extreme precession control over blade lighting, & adding audio. Proffies are more for actually making a Sound Font in my opinion & I just don't have the Artistic Creativity to do that...
The newest main firmware also has automatic blaster deflection and a mode for 2 button setups etc. The Saberforge boards have a different firmware set up
I want to get a Bane MK2 hilt as my first saber and then put the electronics in myself. I have been having trouble deciding which parts to use. I want to be able to duel with it using one of the Bendu Armory battle warrantied pixel blades so I have that as an option while not having to limit the brightness and stuff with an in hilt LED. What would you recommend putting in the Bane MK2? Also not 100% on the length but kind of leaning towards the 36 inch so it looks proper. I am 5'9.
Can you have multiple boot sounds? I added some CFX fonts in just the way you describe. I have a font.wav file for each font, as well as (typically multiple) boot sounds. I'm getting all kinds of weird behavior. Fonts in the list are getting skipped (I made sure I had them numbered correctly), sometimes even the default fonts. The fonts are typically played out of order, even the default fonts, with many of the default fonts skipped altogether. Sometimes the fonts that play depend on whether the saber is pointed up or down. Most preon and pstoff fonts don't play (regardless of the orientation of the saber during ignition). I haven't gotten anything from the manual on these issues. Anybody here have any suggestions?
On the website for sabertech has the default fonts to download for the GHv3, I recommend keeping a default folder on your computer. If you mess up anything, putting the default files usually helps reset the saber.
How do you adjust the ignition effects on it? Not the speed of the ignition or retraction but the sounds it makes when you ignite and retract. I have some sounds extending past the shutdown time or a slow extended startup.
Deleting the pre on and post off sounds In the folder I can’t remember what folder it is but there’s a folder that has those stock sounds and yes it’s annoying so I deleted them that why what ever font that actually has a pre on it plays that or fonts that don’t are just Normal on off sounds
hey ronin i have a issue with my crimson dawn golden harvest v3 , sometimes when i ignite it it will light up then stutter at the like 3 inch mark then playa auido que then ignite and the vice versa when i sheeth it any clue why this is happening it only happens once in a while
When I went to saber forge, one of the options for the adept light saber said golden harvest RGB is it really an RGB or is it much more better like a xenopixel?
Personally I'm not a fan of xenopixel. Ghv3 is a good board that has a lot of similar features as most top tier boards. Saberforge installed sabers sometimes have problems with their electronics.
When you drag and drop a CFX font onto your Golden Harvest board (as shown in a video by Yulan), do you just leave the config.txt, colors.txt files in the root directory, and the leds.txt, font_config.txt in each font where they are, i.e., that you don't need to erase them when you drag and drop the new font? That is, do you just leave everything as is when you drop in the new font?
Yes. I have a GHV3 and just recently downloaded some new sound fonts. As CFX is GHV3 compatible I just drag and dropped the file into my saber folder. All I had to do is rename the file, no need to fiddle round with the rest :)
@@geordiejedii3716 But if you have, for example, pstoff and preon sounds in your CFX font folder, don't you have to relabel those? For example in CFX, they would be something like, pstoff1, and preon1. Whereas in GH3, looking in the manual, it looks like you have to relabel those as postoff=1, and preon=1. If so, then it's just not simply drag and drop. Or amI missing something here?
@@bobtimster62 nah it’s a good question. Basically you just ignore the pst/preon setting in the actual CFX sound font folder as you can enable/disable those in the general.txt folder of your GHV3 which doesn’t require you going into specific folders. As soon as you plug in your saber and your GHV3 pops up, you’ll see the general.txt note where you can edit this
@@geordiejedii3716 Sorry, not following you here. Do I need to edit the general.txt file to be able to use the preon and pstoff files as they are, without renaming them? I notice that I have many of the default files on my CFX sabers. On many of those CFX fonts, there are music tracks, pstoffs, and preons that you can use, that don't seem to be included on the default GHV3 default fonts. So to use those, I would have to erase the default version of the font and copy my CFX version.
for the price, ghv3 is extremely good. i personally still prefer verso as its what i started using when i got my second sound saber (my first was an older nano biscotte)
Its kinda hard to hear. Would you say the smoothswing is just as realistic as CFX? Also the full blade clash sucks. Heard anything about future updates?
For some reason when I update the firmware all of the sound fonts blade styles/effects and colors disappear and I'm forced to either make them one by one or get rid of the update. Just wondering if that's normal?
Not normal at all. I recommend going back to the manual and starting from the begining. I'm not sure what happened exactly but you definitely missed something.
This demo couldn't have come at a better time, I got my first Golden Harvest v3 equipped saber today, a Saber Forge Bane, and I don't know anything about it yet. I think I need to charge the battery, not sure if I have accidently put it into mute or not. Do you know if it has mute? If so, do you know how to turn it off? Thank you!
Who is the best company to buy from regarding speaker, smooth swing, neo pixel, and board ( I don't have time nor knowledge to build my own ) also I've heard proxie is difficult to work with adding fonts
I suggest you look at the manual. The golden harvest has different firmware. Depending on what firmware you have installed the mute function is differently activated. Most likely if the sound is consistently not working it's possible that the speaker wires has broken.
Man, how far the sheer amount of options has gone, and how far the prices have gone down... When I tried to create my first lightsaber in 2017, getting anything shipped here to Serbia was incredibly expensive, so I looked into getting the components and doing the work by myself for something I could afford... I got an empty hilt on sale from Etsy, got the grab bag of Ultrasabers heavy blades, and a PRIZM V4 board on clearance... and didn't manage to put the rest together and it sort of sat there. Right now, the cost of PRIZM alone would buy me a pretty decent hilt with electronics and maybe even a blade from Aliexpress, and spending more gives you all of these options.
The phase 4 boards are really a contender now. Simple and fun. Most of all the sound output on them is gnarly. We are so spoiled now in this hobby for soundboard options lol
Before you judge the question, remember I know nothing.
Do the boards actually effect the quality of the sound? Isn’t that the speaker?
