      Hi Eoun! This is so great to hear 😊 enjoy your trip. We are unsure if there is a direct bus from Jade Mountain to Tiger Leaping Gorge. The only way would be private car.
      We took the public bus from Lijiang to the bottom of Naxi Village, then hiked up to Naxi Guest House. You can take the public bus to the bottom and get a private car to the Naxi Guest House, but it is a little expensive.

    Around 1950s, a senior top official from beijing, paid a visit to yunnan (several cities), n it's the first time in his life visiting there, he was fascinated by the astonishing sceneries n cultural resources in yunnan, he made a comment on yunnan:
    'We should build n promote yunnan as another Swisse in Asia, since it got all kinda natural resources Swisse has.'
    Unfortunately, they failed to do that, n most unforgivable thing is, 40 years later, in order to spending money (mostly under the table corruption) in the name of cities renovation, local governments destroyed many cultural heritages through 90s to early 2000.

    • @JamesandKeli
      @JamesandKeli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow! We also think that Yunnan is one of the most beautiful places we’ve visited while in China. The southern part of China is amazing. It’s sad to hear a lot of the culture has been destroyed

    • @Mao11622
      @Mao11622 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd just like to point out corruption and damage to 'cultural heritage' are two different things. You can build nice things while dealing with corruption, and you can do damage not having any corruption. Most of the damage done in China was due to mismanagement or lack of knowledge/experience.
      Literacy rate in China
      1950: 20%
      1980: 70%
      Now: 90%+
      And lastly, you can destroy cultural relics, but you can't destroy culture (heritage).

    • @DeBeard
      @DeBeard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mao11622 first of all, ain't anybody here said 'corruption' n 'damage to cultrual heritage' are the same thing or they are different facets of one thing, at least that ain't my point if you could carefully read through my previous comment.
      However i gotta emphasize, government officials finding excuses to draw up worthless real estate development projects in the name of municipal renovation n farm them out, in return receiving $$ from contractors, THATS CORRUPTION, also it's worth to mention that some projects definitely at the cost of destroying cultural heritage n streets w long history, it did happen in kunming.
      Secondly, as long as we humans could learn from our faults/wrongdoing in the past, n doing self-reflection in a timely manner, then improving ourselves, making ourselves stronger would be a sure thing,
      but there is a precondition - be sure not to bury our head in the sand, history is a mirror never lie.
      Thirdly, i could hardly agree with your opinion that education-less ppl or less civilized ppl much easier bog down in the mud of corruption, for example, corruption is pretty common in Italy where most ppl are well-educated, also, 'lobbist' system in states is the breeding bed for corruption, but as we all know US education system is one of the best around the world.

    • @Mao11622
      @Mao11622 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeBeard Corruption in the name of cities renovation: Yes. Knowingly tear down historic sites: Not necessarily.
      Beijing city wall would've been the most grandeur city wall in the world if it wasn't torn down. That's before kickbacks was even a thing in China (other forms of corruption do exist).
      What I'm saying the damage was more related to knowledge than to corruption.
      I don't know if you're American, hate to break it to you. While American tertiary education still excels, but primary and secondary education is below par.

    • @infoworld7706
      @infoworld7706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      spending money on new buildings and infrastructures is normal in China, and some of the old buildings will be destroyed for the new city plan. that's not called corruption though some money will go to someone's pocket.
