We are James and Keli👋 Welcome to our van build!
We started creating content while we were in China, sharing what our life was like living abroad. After moving home, we decided to buy a RAM ProMaster and convert it into a tiny home on wheels. Once we finish our van build, we are embarking on a new journey of driving our van through South America.

DIY Cedar Tongue & Groove Ceiling RAM ProMaster Van Build | Van Conversion Ep 17
We take you step by step on how we installed cedar tongue and groove in our #vanbuild. We wanted to ensure that our ceiling was a smooth transition between the boards in the ceiling, along with a transition that will blend into our vans walls. In our build, we have 8 LED puck lights that were also installed during this process.

This is not the video we wanted to make in the middle of our #vanbuild, but here we are with a broken solar panel. There are a few reasons to why we think our #solarpanel could have broke, but to be on the safe side, we decided to re-visit how we built our DIY #roofrack. Despite having the solar now visible from the ground instead of 'stealth mode,' we are pretty happy with our new roof rack. W...

Great job guys, I was looking to get a pass this year an this answered all my questions!
I just bought it for only $300 and it's for a whole year I also live in Orlando which is a Hub City this definitely will probably work better for me definitely has some disadvantages before the $300 I can't really complain
As long as you are in a hub, this is great for you
@JamesandKeli for 300 that's a steal! it ends tonight btw if anyone is interested. After that it's 500.
Almost bought one bc of their $299 deal. Then test booked a flight. Seemed like most flights are at least 24 hours. You’ll have to pay for a hotel in between flights. Worthless. Driving will get you there faster for about the same amount of money.
Yep, 24 hour layovers are super common. Either stay in a hotel or sleep on the airport floor. That’s where the cost of time vs savings come in
hello and thanks for sharing! how long will it take to visit the giant buddha and the oriental buddha? I plan to arrive there around 11 am
It took us all day to explore. It is up to how quickly you go and the amount of people.
For the rest of you Texas kids, lots of options for direct flights from Houston and DFW. Austin and San Antonio be prepared to go to Houston for any real opportunity, with the exception of Orlando Vegas and a couple of Key Mexico cities. Being in San Antonio, we seriously considered the pass with Houston being a couple 3 hours away and family that we can park a car there. However, being math nerds, we really wanted to see the difference between the pass plus fees versus booking a month or two early which is highlighted in this video. Unless you are truly the freest of spirits and you're just starting your career. I think it's better to take your chances without the pass. If you're really going to binge fly across the country, it's probably worth the shot and just be prepared for 100% being on The airlines time.
Al Quran 35 : 27
Thanks so much for doing the math @4:38 th-cam.com/video/7caXZP0CLDw/w-d-xo.html&si=3hHYreEHqgjYCF5j
Business majors at heart ❤️ 😆
I just got the "earlybird" pricing... the way I see it, If I use it just twice I break even, after that I'm good. I probably wont be able to use it more than 4 times this year, but it will still be worth the price.
I've thought of moving to china, because of my friend. First of all. I thought of going to Norway while i thought of leaving Canada. But I got second thoughts of norway.
China is amazing! Would definitely recommend moving there
Did you use white or red cedar? Love how this looks!
Red cedar, thank you 😍
How much is private healthcare in Shanghai?
We had private healthcare through our company, so we are unsure what it would cost individually
What’s the cost of living ratio between Shanghai and Beijing?
Fr thank you for mentioning the toilet paper thing, I've watched a couple videos with tips for visiting and no one's mentioned that yet🫣
We are all about practicality, and toilet paper is one!
I feel sad for you, too bad you didn't use the cardboard template you made to fabricate your floor to cut your vinyl flooring.
That would have been smart! However we purchased the wrong size of vinyl flooring which was what caused our issue.
Wanted to try this for the last month since they offer a monthly option, and it has been great out of Philly. Just this last month I went to Atlanta twice, Orlando twice, Charlotte once and San Juan once. Plan to head to Nashville next week
That’s amazing! Enjoy
Hello! I don't know if you can see this comment right now. I'm a colleage student in Xi'an province but I'm a native in TianShui. Recently I'm preparing an English speaking contest about tell Chinese story to world, so i want to introduce this incredible site in my speech. I also wonder how many foreigners friends learnt this one, so i searched this. It's very nice to see your vedio about my hometown.By the way, how time flies!!! It was even 4 years ago, we have gone through the COVID-19, I believe you guys can travel freely! Wish you all best!!! I also followed you guys, hope your more wonderful vedios!
A few things we recommend for installing cedar tongue & groove for a van build: 🧰Put a stain or poly on prior to putting it up. This makes it much easier than trying to do it while it is already on the ceiling. 🧰Don't let all of the boards end in the same spot. If you do, it may look choppy, where as if you end them at different points, it will create a transition. 🧰If you plan to put your wall up, make sure to bring your ceiling down, this will help transition the ceiling and make your van look taller.
hey can you say if i dont want to see the jade mountain andcable car but just the blue moon valley is that possible? what is the ticket system?
The cable car is an additional ticket at the park.
@ thanks for your reply i was rewatching your video. The public bus that you took after walking from hotel i didn’t understand from where .. near the starbucks but exactly where
Baidu have english version?
Can you please suggest me the hotels where I can stay at affordable budget and which app to use?
We use trip.com to find hotels.
so is it cheaper if you book the day of your flight with pass or what cause i purchased this shit on accident and im trying to either get a refund or get my flights cheaper
You will still get flights cheaper if you book last minute, if they are available.
That’s history of the Alamo is a lie
❤
Hello there, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing ever before. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?
Carne a WHAT? lol
good job you guys!!! I totally enjoyed watching this magnificent heritage, I am inspired to visit this blessed site :)

Hi James and Keli, thanks for sharing all these details about the Giant Buddha. Could you also share a bit how you got to the park from Chengdu ? Love your content in the channel
We took the public train to Leshan then a Didi from the train station to the entrance.
What do you think about flying back and forth to Las Vegas and LA twice a week for business?

We recommend using 高德地图 (Gao de di tu/Amap), the most used map app in China, which you can use to find routes, check bus and subway lines, and even take the Taxi, it also includes the functionality of the Dianping APP, which allows you to find scenic spots, restaurants, and more
This was super helpful! Thank you both!
We’re happy to help 😊
My favorite Mexican restaurants here in SA are the Jalisco-style restaurants. You usually have the option of filling your taco/enchilada/whatever with your choice of beef, chicken or picadillo. I LOVE enchiladas with picadillo, and usually get them once a week at the restaurant by my house. And, of course, i eat my fair share of breakfast tacos, even though I work evenings and am never awake in the morning. You can get them or order them anytime here. Chorizo and egg tacos are awesome if you can find a place with great chorizo. It's SO flavorful. You should have grease dripping out through your fingers. I love Tex-Mex!!
I live in SA, and it seems to me that a salsa verde (green sauce) is usually served with chicken,) whereas beef is usually served with a salsa roja (red sauce.)

Hello Albino 🤌🏻🤌🏻
Worst Van ever!!! Seriously the worst Van. Did a trip from Savannah to Miami to for Dog rescue and while it was great for the dogs it sucked to be in passenger seat! My Porsche was better on my back and knees then the NEW 2024 2500 Ram POS!
Theives will bust those windows and your cats will be lost in south america. I would find someone else to travel with you like a fleet . Safety in numbers.
cutting holes in the van is a scary thing.
@@michele2017promastertravel right! Especially if the hole is too big 🫣
A new van vid yaaaaaaa. 😂 Hope it goes well before you give up unless you already have 100k to do this 😂. Already had
It’s been going well! 😅 it’s definitely a big project that takes a lot of patience (& money 😣)
What do you think about our electrical setup? 🔋
Wow, that's a thorough video. I really appreciate that you made the time to talk through so many details. Thank you! I'm building out a van that will do dual duty as a work van and a travel van. So, as a work van the power system needs to charge power tool batteries and drive wire tools like a table saw. As a travel van it'll do much the same as yours, powering a kitchen, lighting, and personal electronics. What are your plans for heating and cooling? At least for now, I'm planning to use a propane heater instead of investing in enough batteries to drive an electric heater.
I would be surprised if you DIDN'T get scammed in the DR. Maybe it's not a representation of the whole DR, but it definitely is of the touristy parts. I've read many stories like yours and even worse ones. Simply overcharging is one thing, but telling someone a price then changing it, is stooping to a whole new low. Scammers in the DR are a whole other level. This isn't even scamming, it's pure robbery and extortion. Usually you cannot win with them. This kind of thing happens throughout the Caribbean unfortunately. I saw a video where a taxi driver in St. Lucia did this and they could not win with him. We also had something similar happened on a bus in Grenada where us and the only other White tourist got charged extra mid ride for "requesting a designated stop". But it definitely seems to be worst in the DR though! I only travel to the European islands now, because I got sick of having money extorted from me and having to constantly be on guard. The DR was on my wish list for a long time, but I don't wanna visit/support a place where the locals see tourists as suckers. This would be dealt with quickly if people stopped traveling there and their tourist economy began to collapse.
WOW..! I hope this is a joke. OK.. so you can drive down the road at 100 mph.. but nothing gets bent.. So those winds must have hit that one spot on the panel and put a bend in it and NOT affect anything else..? Uhh.. logically thinking, it's NOT POSSIBLE. Even if the wind was forced through a funnel, the Aluminum is NOT going to bend. There's something your NOT telling us. Statistic probability is it was an ALIEN rather than the wind or rain. Some people will do anything for more views it seems.
Honestly we wish it was a joke 😭 the amount of effort we had to take the panels off and then put them back on our roof was not fun. It more than likely was from thermal expansion and having no where to expand
We haven't found one flight
Lovely couple.
@@666raki thank you 😊
