That was an immaculately detailed how to with well thought out practicle hints, in fact the best I've seen. The only thing I would do differently is after tightening the axle I wouldn't tighten the two axled clamp bolts. I would sit on the bike holding the front brake and put all my weight up and down on the forks so they align, then tighten the two clamp bolts. That helps eliminate or minimise fork stitchen. Keep up the good work.

This is the 100% correct way of doing to ensure proper alignment. I even have a video on the channel showing exactly that! I must say that on the 2 times I had to change a tube in the middle of a trip I ended up not doing it 😂. I just wanted to get the job done asap and jump into riding again. Cheers mate! As I mentioned both my son and I appreciated your video on the Rabaconda but until we are ready to spend the money on such a device this video instruction was perfect. I am proud to say my son followed your example and changed both the front and rear tires of his CRF300L. Having a Rabaconda is definitely a luxury, however knowing the basics, although slower and more time consuming is good for setting a good foundation. Thank you for the video.

Most excellent video. My tip is that if you are lifting the back wheel, turn the handlebars to the left and use something to close the front brake. This could be a zip tie, but I keep one velcro strap tied on the fork tube for this purpose. The tire spoons with the box end wrench side are such great tools for traveling. Great job!

you make it look easy. i am now on my second day of changing the rear tyre. I have the old tyre off by now and now i have the fit the new tyre on. its exhausting. you need to be in very good physical health for this kind of work. 😂
Hi Bernardo, 🤣 your comment made me laugh! haha Let me tell you. About 10 years ago I've attempted to change my first tire using tire spoons. Absolutely carnage. I was cursing like crazy.. In fact, I had to give up on the rear tire and take the walk of shame to the tire shop. It was insane. However, I promise to you. There is a techinique to it. I tried to pass this technique during the video but nothing subtitutes the real life practice. This is a great skill to learn and it's just like learning how to ride a bycicle. Once you learn it, you never forget. If you are trying to hard probably there is something wrong. Over time you develop a feeling for it. It has taken me 4-5 tires changes to be able to do it comfortably. Here is my recommendation. Keep your old tires around. When during winter, take a day to perfect your skill. Mount and dismount the old tires several times in a row. That's it. You will learn the technique in one day.

You have to push opposite down the tire with one foot to use the space of the inside rim and so no effort needed. this is the basic of tire change. use tire spoons with a bit of angle to prevent any pinch. Never past vertical position with the spoons for same reason Degrip oil spray is the best to break the bead. Spray against the tire side and rim , wait a couple of minutes et voilà ;) Putting back tire, best is still dish wash soap diluted that you already have as traveler As we are used to say, if you make any effort, you are wrong, stop and think ! don't forget to lube tube with silicon and put two rim locks; as they are puy opposite you have the bonus to get a better balanced wheel Even full flat you will be able to still ride a lot when shit hits the fan. no tube or tire rotating. keep the good work; useful for many riders !
Very well explained! Concise, short, straight to the point with all important info and tips. Probably the best explanation for in field tire fix. Maybe do one for tire patching? I know many people struggle to patch a tire successfully.

Excellent video! My only comment or question would be that I think, coming from a racing bicycle background, that it wouldn’t be necessary to remove the tire completely. Instead, just remove one side, which would be the brake disk side. Then either replace or repair the tube.
Hey Harry Both methods work and it’s matter of preference. I tried both methods but I still prefer to get the tire completely off, fit the tube inside the tire and finally remount it to the rim. My preference comes primarily from 3 reasons. 1 - it gives me some peace of mind to slightly inflate the tube in advance then perfectly fit it inside the tyre. If I remove only one side of the tire, I’m pushing the tube inside the tire without really seeing if it’s all bunched up. 2 - if using heavy duty tubes (4mm), I definitely prefer getting the tire off. Specially for the front wheel, I find to be a higher effort trying to squeeze the thicker tube inside the tire if only one side is off. 3 - I find it easier to position the valve stem into the hole. I know some guys even carry an additional tool, I think is called valve stem puller, to facilite this process. But by removing the tire completely off I can clearly see where hole is for the valve stem. I wouldn’t say there is right or wrong in here. That’s just the way I like to do it but both will work. Excellent tutorial. Do you ever just only take off one side of the tire of the rim to remove the damaged tube and install the new tube vs. completely removing the tire from the rim?

I love this little bike but I’m not a skilled off-road rider. For the time being the weight and power are perfect for me. I can totally see how more experienced riders would appreciate more power. Which bike are you riding now?
@@RoiaMoto I spent 20 years on hard enduro.....and I don't see the CRF300 as a hard enduro, but from the plane you can see that it has too soft amortization and that it lacks approx. 10 horses. I am currently working in Asia so 6 months ago I sold my CRF 1000. I tried the new Transalp 750 but as a former TA 600 and TA 650 owner, the 750 model disappointed me! I'm looking for a bike a 3in1 and if Honda doesn't make something stronger......I'll probably buy a GS1200 while I wait. I am not afraid of the weight of 1200 because I have experience and I know that I can pass most of the heavier macadams. The new KTM 390 is great in terms of driving characteristics, but unfortunately it will be unreliable like all others KTMs, especially those produced in India! I used to have a Suzuki DR350 and I wouldn't go back to it 🙂 Do you have a solution for me? 🙂
Great stuff! 20 years of enduro riding!!! I have a long way to get there. Very hard. I personally like the Husq 701 enduro. Relatively light and powerful. The drawback I see in it is the reliability. I don’t think the 701 is going to be close to reliable as the Japanese motorcycles. With your experience what about the Tenere 700?
Don’t do it this way! You don’t need to remove the entire tire to swap the tube out on the trail. Just work on one side of the tire. Complete waste of time and energy. Watch other videos and practice at home. You will not be able to do it the first time on the trail.
Hi mate, Thanks for sharing your input and how you like to do it. I have already tried the way you described but it’s not for me. I rather remove the tyre, fit the tube inside the tyre, fit the valve stem into the hole using my hands and then continue with the mounting of the tyre. I’m sure someone else will also prefer a different method different to yours or mine. Every rider got find what works best for them. Cheers Ride safe!

Without the rim lock I would start about a “full hand” (20cm) away from the valve.
Without the rim lock, generally should be easier and it will not matter that much. I just don’t remember starting right on top of the valve stem

@@RoiaMoto I spent 20 years on hard enduro.....and I don't see the CRF300 as a hard enduro, but from the plane you can see that it has too soft amortization and that it lacks approx. 10 horses.
I am currently working in Asia so 6 months ago I sold my CRF 1000. I tried the new Transalp 750 but as a former TA 600 and TA 650 owner, the 750 model disappointed me!
I'm looking for a bike a 3in1 and if Honda doesn't make something stronger......I'll probably buy a GS1200 while I wait. I am not afraid of the weight of 1200 because I have experience and I know that I can pass most of the heavier macadams.
The new KTM 390 is great in terms of driving characteristics, but unfortunately it will be unreliable like all others KTMs, especially those produced in India!
I used to have a Suzuki DR350 and I wouldn't go back to it 🙂

Very hard. I personally like the Husq 701 enduro. Relatively light and powerful. The drawback I see in it is the reliability. I don’t think the 701 is going to be close to reliable as the Japanese motorcycles.
With your experience what about the Tenere 700?
Don’t do it this way! You don’t need to remove the entire tire to swap the tube out on the trail. Just work on one side of the tire. Complete waste of time and energy. Watch other videos and practice at home. You will not be able to do it the first time on the trail.

I have already tried the way you described but it’s not for me.
I rather remove the tyre, fit the tube inside the tyre, fit the valve stem into the hole using my hands and then continue with the mounting of the tyre.
I’m sure someone else will also prefer a different method different to yours or mine.
Every rider got find what works best for them.

@@RoiaMoto I agree with you. It can be a pain in the ass to insert the tube with the tire already half on the rim. I like doing it the way you did it by pulling the stem out of the tire and inserting it first. Easy peasy!
