Was there that day. Back when football was real. What a team we had (WHU). The atmosphere, the passion from the players. Nothing comes close these days.
An unbelievably exciting game and hard to believe this was 40 years ago. I was sat in line with the penalty area where both goals were scored. When we deservedly equalized, I recall all my coins flew into the air never to be seen again celebrating the goal. Controversial decisions, great saves, sparkling displays...this match had everything.
Was there that day..and av seen the offside paul Allen goal from a different angle since....and he was nearly a yard onside..what a diabolical call...then it was onto Elland road for the replay where dev won it nearly on his own..as barry Davies said on the night..he looked the most likely...but go back to west brom away in the 3rd rnd where phil parkes produced one of the best goalkeeping displays you will ever see ..and although in the nd division we had a fantastic side which then went on to to take us back to the 1st division still with brooking bonds lampard and pat Holland. ..the last of the summer wine!...great days!
@@lennylaa1686 I was at that match supporting Everton, but you're quite correct, a very good goal disallowed because of a useless linesman. "Don't put your flag up unless you're 100% certain" they tell them. Made no difference in the long run, as Hammers won the replay.

Phil Parkes was a fine keeper - so unlucky to have his way barred to more England caps by both Clemence and Shilton.
We went on to win the cup anyway COYI!
