Wow! Thank you so much! I have a HP Omen 15 (2019) and this increased cooling performance a lot! I undervolted and tested stability gradually until I hit an undervolt of -169.9mv!! Now my laptop idles at 42 degrees which is almost 15 degrees lower! Also, my cpu temp dropped around 10 degrees in games... Surprisingly, since my cpu temp dropped, my gpu temp also dropped around 7 degrees under max usage (I'm assuming they use the same heatpipe). Also, the battery life was extended by around 60 mins. It's like a bought a new laptop lol No throttling whatsoever.

Really good explanation. That was exactly what I was searching for! Im playing on a laptop which makes temperatures and CPU speed a sensible issue. I have tried undervolting before but it never really worked how I wanted it to. I have an i5 8300h which was limited to around 2.9 gHz (sometimes even lower) due to thermal throttling but now it runs pretty stable at 3.6 to even 3.9 GHz with also stable temperatures while at 100% load (with smaller tasks 4ghz if I'm lucky). Firstly, you should stress test between undervolt attempts, and make changes in small increments. Starting at -100 is not a great idea. Also, disable turbo should not be checked. Additionally, I wouldn't recommend saving voltages immediately. Better to save after exit. This way if your computer crashes you won't get stuck in a boot loop. (Assuming of course you've set ThrottleStop to start with Windows)
ThrottleStop made my laptop run MUCH smoother under load for gaming, but this guide is not thorough or complete, nor is it really the safest way to go about changing voltages.

Some people like to disable Intel DPTF (Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework) in FIVR by checking the box "Disable and Lock Turbo Power Limits" if you're experiencing throttling even at low temperatures. DPTF tries to set power limits dynamically.

Okay so is slidiing the voltage slider to the right increasing or DECREASING the undervolt? Because it would only make sense that moving away from the negatives would be increasing. So if -100 wasn't good enough for the heat to go away, I should move the slider more to the right?

I admit, I just lowered the Turbo Ratio Limit by a mere one step, and immediately my core temperature dropped from 96 to 89. Thank you very much, I used to have huge thermal issues on my 17" ASUS ROG Strix Scar III with the i7- 9750h, when I was playing CoD or BF V it usually reached over 90 degrees Celsius and now thanks to undervolting it by -70 mV it runs as stable as before but at maximum of 70 degrees Celsius and I don't have any less FPS. Keep your great work up and greetings from Germany.

I kept trying to find a way to prevent my gaming laptop from getting so heated while playing games. Eventually found out about undervolting and it's unbelievable that this isn't already a thing for the computers? It runs way better and it isn't burning to the touch, this is how it should be? It makes no sense why this isn't already a thing honestly it's crazy. I can't thank you enough for this simple tutorial, it seriously changed everything for the better I did crash occasionally but I think I found the soft spot! Thank you!
It used to be going up past 95 to 100c and now it's down to through 50-60c and running way smoother.

My laptop was always blowing loud af and on startup all the Windows animations were laggy as hell. I did a few things to fix it. I updated my Display drivers for both the built-in GPU (Intel) and the NVIDIA GPU. Next I set all 3D applications to automatically run on the GPU.
That still wasn't really fixing the laggy Windows itself and the laptop was still blowing. Then I undervolted my laptop (I'm already familiar in doing that) and WHAM! Laptop running blazing fast without even turning on the fans for a second. Temperatures stable at around 50 deg C.

Now, it runs very quietly without any problem. I was able to reduce it to -125 in all CPU, GPU, and cache. thank you once again.
