Same here. This just felt overlong, stilted and lackluster. With the exception of one scene towards the end I was board out of my mind. As for the anmation, yep, perfect for Archer, not so much for a superhero movie. Everything felt incedibly lifeless and wooden
I am SO GLAD someone finally came with a reasonably minded review! This storyline was a MESS that made NO SENSE…and the animation style was off putting!
As confused as I was by all the storylines and time jumps in this movie….I’ve been even more surprised by all the reviews praising this movie. I promise you if this was a live action movie EVERYBODY would be trashing it. EVERYBODY
The script felt like a series of B stories not tied into the main story at all. No character development and they reduced all the characters to 1 basic trait. Batman’s only game plan was to bomb/nuke things, and Superman literally just kept getting beat by amazo. Vixen and MM did nothing, and the idea of powering infinite towers doesn’t even make sense, how can you power infinite towers? Why not get 100 flashes to make the towers instead of a bunch of other heroes? Everything felt like an afterthought.
The main thing about this story was that it felt confusing cos towards the I didnt know what was going like why am I getting flashbacks of justice league and why is there vixen in the justice league instead of Wonder woman, how are there two supermans and rest everyone has only one version of themselves? It dosent seem like something interesting for part 2
It tried to tell too many stories simultaneously; this odd iteration of the Justice League's whole backstory was not really necessary or relevant to the story at large, and did not need to be shoved in.
@Failure on Command - Man, you took the words right out of my mouth-if i could actually verbalize my own thoughts as clearly & accurately as you did here. Now, if only someone who has connections to DC would show this video to the higher ups so the next installment will be more, ughm, satisfactory. 😓
I’m glad you referenced Archer for the animation style cause that was my first thought. I haven’t seen many DC animated films but I’d love to hear your thoughts because your analysis of story mechanics applies to any genre!
Thanks a dozen, Colin! Yeah, I may just do that... Glad to see you'd still be interested even though you don't really follow these movies much. I really appreciate it.
All the subplots made sense in the main narrative, basically made the build up, Barry plot (The main character who start and "ends" this), Syndicate crime (the impact of an tragic end making it more terrifying) JL origin (not really necessary but fixing the biggest Jl warlord mistake)
The Tomorrowverse has been a convoluted mess. With movies that mostly felt like standalone films. A shadow of what the DCAU used to be during the JLU days and The New 52 animated universe that came afterwards.
I would love to see your take on the batman animated movies, "who killed the joker" and the other one where robin turns to an anti- hero(can't remember it's name).
Under the Red Hood is epic; been a fan of it since I was young. Jensen Ackles plays Red Hood there, with a much better performance. By "who killed the joker" I assume you mean The Killing Joke?
I been stop watching these movies because of this you hit everything on the nail they need to get back to how it was so we can watch again and I love the old justice league animated series
I agree about the art style…the previous movies War World and Legion of superheroes was meh but I gave it a chance…this movie particularly left me in a puzzled state
There is a shot after the climax, where the superheroes celebrated their win. It looks horrible! Like one of those old Speed Racer/Captain America cartoons!
I just finished part two and had to start looking for someone talking about this. It only doubled down on my opinion of this weirdness. Anyway, I am happy to say yeah I agree with all of this, this was my experience almost exactly, even with regards to what I've seen prior to this, and that even without seeing the other tomorrowverse content, I really wasn't finding myself confused. While I respect the creatives who worked on this, and they deserve to feel proud of their work, in this modern era of corporate corner cutting trying to find a way to use ai to shave off another layer on the edges of thin paychecks, I cannot help but wonder if all this weirdness is somehow tied to that. Mimicry of human behavior from something that cannot comprehend it. Which is only highlighted even more by the second part's emphasis on one of the character's being a hyper empath. What the hell happened here?
I too have had My own issues with this so-called Tomorrowverse: these Movies have either been Hit or Miss with Me, and (completely agreed) their Animations and Dialogues have more often looked or felt more than a little "stiff." I have Enjoyed "Man of Tomorrow" / Both Parts of "The Long Halloween" / and "Legion of Super-Heroes" because those (IMHO) have had the most Mature of Character Dramas and Developments. I'm going to keep My fingers crossed for this "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Trilogy, and hope that it'll all have been worth it🤞in the end...
I hope so too, because the Crisis has always been a really interesting DC story. As for the other movies, I suppose I'll find out for myself if I do end up doing that full animated movie binge I mentioned.
I just finished this movie and it felt very disjointed, especially the first act. Yeah the animation style wasn’t really all that hot but this movie had some great emotional highs for me and surprises, since I’ve never read the comic, but this movie will probably stick with me because the sense of dread is heavy.
Thought maybe i was just tired when i first watched crisis because I couldn't make out much of what was going on and tbh found myself dozing off for most of it....Now that I've watched this video I know for sure that it wasn't just me. Also whoever said that you don't need to watch the earlier tomorrowverse films lied. Only after watching warworld ( which i did subsequent to watching crisis) did i start to understand some of the things in crisis that previously made no sense. Yes the pauses in dialogue are weird.
I felt Jensen Ackles' performance reflected Earth 2 Batman really well. He's not as charismatic since he doesn't have a sidekick to soften him up. He's more stilted and socially stunted still from living a mostly solitary lifestyle. His billionaire playboy side doesn't show up as it isn't relevant to the plot or his superhero side in general.
Thanks for this video. I was wondering if it was just me who thought this movie was weird. Started to watch part 2 but decided no, I just didn't enjoy the first one so why suffer more?
I mean from a storytelling perspective, there seems to be a lot in store. But from a technical perspective everywhere else, I don't know if I can look forward to it.
I think calling the “animation” style stiff might be more accurate as art style has to do more with color palette costume design etc. imo the dc animated features have fallen off a cliff in terms of quality especially where they force a shared universe. The best dc animated movies imo take singular ideas and run with them. I highly recommend Under the Red Hood if you haven’t seen that and the batman / damian wayne run of movies. The damian wayne movies are inconsistent but they at least showcase how DC animated movies can produce decent action cuts. It sucks cause DC would do great under an animation style akin to the castlevania series or anything more leaning towards anime.
I know I kind of lumped art style and animation together, but I did mean that I found the ART STYLE in specific unappealing, meaning the colors, general model and character design, costumes, etc. (which is why I mention it looks like Archer). The whole art aesthetic is not my cup of tea, and on top of that the animations are very stiff and lack fluidity. I don't know if I'm opposed to a shared universe type of deal with DC's animated features, but I do agree that some of the best of them have been isolated experiences.; I did very much like the previous continuity, though. I have also seen Under the Red Hood, all the way back when it first came out, and I remember loving it. Jensen Ackles also sounds pretty good in the random clips I've seen of the movie. The Batman & son movies I don't recall much of, but I think I've seen some of them, but you've got me excited to see them again!
I thought some of the movie was confusing as well but i just summed it up to maybe i was on my phoke to much amd wasnt paying enough attention, or maybe im just stupid lol Funny part is the flash is like my guy too so i felt liked i was really invested in the story but confused and a tad disappointed
This movie is really nerdy you have to see all the previous stuff and after that know abit of the comics it self and then it becomes better but still its not perfect som stuff was unnecessary sum stuff needed to be there more but it really helps if you see everything befor cuse all are connect
You really think this kind of solid and very upstanding story is *weird*?! Well then: let us never ever be normal: at least *this* kind of story seems to advocate for action-adventure and modesty; just what's needed, plus solid values if nothing else. Yeah, not everything they do is sound by any account; but the story *itself* is!
The tomorrow verese is trash rushed and animation is stiff and weird, the DCUA was fire every movie hit and animation eas 🔥 this shit is terrible you can tell they didnt havevnuch of s budget or csre for the tomorrowverse after james gunn took over
Are you guys kidding me in here?? Where are you confused? Maybe because you literally just said you haven't seen any of the newer films? Which you only need a few to get this timeline so🤔 how did you not like this. Storytelling was amazing and easy to follow. Characters were great, Barry and Amazo stole the show.
I watched this two days ago and felt the same way but there has been tons of reviews that are praising this film and that confused me the most
I too was bewildered by the reviews, but it seems people have just had low expectations with the Tomorrowverse in general.
Same here. This just felt overlong, stilted and lackluster. With the exception of one scene towards the end I was board out of my mind. As for the anmation, yep, perfect for Archer, not so much for a superhero movie. Everything felt incedibly lifeless and wooden
I think they were fans who already knew the characters well enough to enjoy it. Nothing I've seen or read about this feature makes it a strong story.
Broo..u were on point...i hate the 3d 2d animation mishmash...
Exactly!
I am SO GLAD someone finally came with a reasonably minded review! This storyline was a MESS that made NO SENSE…and the animation style was off putting!
What was wrong with the other reviews?
There was nothing wrong with any of this film.
This hurts me how much I agree with you.
As confused as I was by all the storylines and time jumps in this movie….I’ve been even more surprised by all the reviews praising this movie. I promise you if this was a live action movie EVERYBODY would be trashing it. EVERYBODY
People hate animated movies in new 52
It felt like there were three movies into one. The Crime syndicate along with the fight with AMAZO had no bearing on the overall plot
Surprised to see someone else notice all of the flaws.
The time tripping was a terrible decision imo
The script felt like a series of B stories not tied into the main story at all. No character development and they reduced all the characters to 1 basic trait. It's was so confusing I didn't have a clue what was going on for ages
A corruption of Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Exactly the movie didnt feel something you watch excitedly but something you just need to finish watching
@@failureoncommand jl origin was something that Warworld should gave us.
Archer.... yeah that makes sense now. Be glad when they find a new style.
@Failure on Command - Man, you took the words right out of my mouth-if i could actually verbalize my own thoughts as clearly & accurately as you did here.

You should watch man of tomorrow and Batman long Halloween and Constantine :house of mystery before crisis on infinite earths

thats the one@@failureoncommand
I been stop watching these movies because of this you hit everything on the nail they need to get back to how it was so we can watch again and I love the old justice league animated series
well those aren't the "tomorrowverse" so of course they're better
I agree about the art style…the previous movies War World and Legion of superheroes was meh but I gave it a chance…this movie particularly left me in a puzzled state
really feel like even if you watch all those movies it really doesnt change much
The Tomorrowverse ones? I guess you're right.
There is a shot after the climax, where the superheroes celebrated their win.
It looks horrible! Like one of those old Speed Racer/Captain America cartoons!
Man, that shot effed me up. Replayed it multiple times to make sure I wasn't tripping.
Yea I was thinking the archer thing too 😂
I just finished part two and had to start looking for someone talking about this. It only doubled down on my opinion of this weirdness.

Haven't seen the 2nd part, and now I think I made the right choice...
You hit home with dialogue and pauses. They're awkward af.
I too have had My own issues with this so-called Tomorrowverse: these Movies have either been Hit or Miss with Me, and (completely agreed) their Animations and Dialogues have more often looked or felt more than a little "stiff." Watch The Venture Bros this is where the set style came from. But the writing and jokes not from their Ventuer bros is amazing.
Wow, I absolutely agree with all the clamor here. If only DC will see this video and read the fan comments. 😓
I just finished this movie and it felt very disjointed, especially the first act.

I loved it
I said the same thing! It looked like Archer.
I watched this last night, and immediately thought 'How can there be a part 2 to this???????????????????'
I mean from a storytelling perspective, there seems to be a lot in store. But from a technical perspective everywhere else, I don't know if I can look forward to it.
Justice League: Crisis on Infinite
Who was this made for?
It's like if Marvel started out with infinity war, like why would we care about the characters that we just met?
I think calling the “animation” style stiff might be more accurate as art style has to do more with color palette costume design etc. imo the dc animated features have fallen off a cliff in terms of quality especially where they force a shared universe. You should watch previous dc animated such as justice league Dark apocolips war , justice league Warworld.
Will do!
APOKOLIPS WAR.
I thought some of the movie was confusing as well but i just summed it up to maybe i was on my phoke to much amd wasnt paying enough attention, or maybe im just stupid lol

looooove the movie ❤❤❤❤
lol the book its based on is almost 1000 pages it was used to reset the dc universe in to one if you read the book its almost beat for beat the same
❤

The animation looks like a more flat style of the Clutch Cargo cartoons.
Had never heard of Clutch Cargo, but a quick google search later... You're onto something.
I didnt like it either. they cheaped out
the 2010 Jl: crisis on two earths is wayy better. animation is better also
The animation is shat. They have gone way down with this last run of movies
You definitely have to see the part 2 of crisis and make a review cos it’s even worse than this shjt
Part 1 was the best superhero movie since The Batman! Part 2 has a lot to live up to.
The tomorrow verese is trash rushed and animation is stiff and weird, the DCUA was fire every movie hit and animation eas 🔥 this shit is terrible you can tell they didnt havevnuch of s budget or csre for the tomorrowverse after james gunn took over
The dialogue is horrible
Anime style is unbearable
Pure crap.
This whole movie was trash couldn't finish watch
Are you guys kidding me in here?? Where are you confused? Maybe because you literally just said you haven't seen any of the newer films? Which you only need a few to get this timeline so🤔 how did you not like this.
Storytelling was amazing and easy to follow. Characters were great, Barry and Amazo stole the show.
It's freaking animation . Get over it. Everyone's a critic. Just enjoy the fucking film
