Bret, thank you very much for this extremely helpful video. While Delta support staff tried to be helpful; they could not provide the instructional video and very important commentary that yours obviously does. You also saved me over $200 in order an unneeded part.
Had no water at all for THREE days - and your RESET information did the trick! I am WOMAN and so proud of myself! Thanks for posting - great information, presented well!
Thank you for a great video! We’ve had our Delta faucet for 12 years and after cleaning out things under the kitchen sink the faucet quit working. Nothing. Thinking that it was 12 years old and probably just worn out, my husband and I were getting ready to go buy a new one. Just by chance, I decided to Google for troubleshooting on this faucet. I found this TH-cam video and it saved us $$$. Great and easy step by step instructions. Thank you Brett!
Bingo !! Thanks Brett !! Your info continues to be invaluable. Although my Delta model is different - the solenoid is the same. A brief reverse polarity touch of the battery pack, and SHAZAM !! everything was back in working order. Although I'd love to know what gets stuck inside the solenoid, your trick fixes it and I don't need to know any more than that. My faucet is 7 years old - this was our first problem with it - very happy I didn't have to buy a new unit !! My battery pack has SIX (6) batteries = 9v. If you only have 4 batteries - well that is 6 volts. I'd not recommend using a 9v battery to replace a battery pack that only had 4 batteries. I AM considering getting a 9v wall wart (and a series diode) so the system runs on the wall wart UNLESS we have a power failure - at which time it would switch over to the batteries. Not sure - I may need to add a transistor - but if successful - the battery pack should last virtually forever - or 5-7 years (close enough). Well - - THAT was 2 weeks ago. The Delta POS failed again - nothing would fix it. If I can't find a replacement solenoid, this POS is going into the trash. And - of course - delta has fixed it so you just can't remove the solenoid unit from the water flow as the input and flow out are NOT the same fittings. There IS a special place in HE (double hockey sticks) for the delta designers.
Brett - I pulled up your video for the plumber and he place the battery pack directly to the solenoid. It arched, just like your video said it would, and the sink worked again! The light doesn't work, but the faucet does, so I am satisfied. The plumber still charged me $119 but thanks to your video he was only here for 45 min! Who knows how much longer he would have been here, which would have cost me more money, if it wasn't for your video! YOU taught HIM something! Next time I will check youtube BEFORE calling a plumber! THANKS SO MUCH!!!
You have no idea how much you helped me today! I'm am a first time home buyer and I was so nervous my faucet was shot. This video saved it. I'm back in business. Thank you so so much!!!!
Brett, you saved me a lot of time., about $100 and stress. My delta touch kitchen was not working properly last night. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with a Delta customer service agent to diagnose the issue. He suggested checking the wires, etc. and the solution was to replace the solenoid. I just looked at your video which suggested removing the battery for 30 seconds for the unit to reset. It worked!! Funny thing is that the Delta rep never suggested that step. Thanks for the video.
So very helpful. I was dreading this job and all I had to do was take batteries out and let it reset and like magic it works. Can’t thank you enough for the simple and thorough video.
Brett, thanks so much. Our issue was intermittent and to get the solenoid to turn on we had to pull out the spout and that would sometimes work. I was able to unplug my battery pack, move that wire around so it was out of the way, plug in my battery pack and - bingo - it seems to work. I am anxious to put it to the test this evening while working in the kitchen to see if it really has resolved the issue. TH-cam is a wonderful thing. Someone saves me every time.
I had a different model that has 6 AA batteries come to find the cable was touching the copper pipe so I used some tiny 3M hooks to guide the wire away from the plumbing as soon as I did this it worked immediately… your video diagnose and remedy the issue… big thanks!!!
This guy is amazing! First, I am not mechanically incline. I review many other video instructions with no avail and was ready to call a plumber. I followed this guys easy instructions and now I have running water! Also, thank you for the tips to keep it running !
This is a GREAT step-by-step how to video. After detaching my connectors, reversing the polarity, resetting the solenoid, and reattaching everything it worked again. What a pain in the butt this faucet is, but your video helped me so if I need to do this again in the future I can do it on my own. Excellent job and thanks for taking the time to help the rest of us plagued with this problem. Steve
Glad I could help I've mentioned this to a couple other people but another great tip I figured out is if the battery pack that connects to that unit ever gets corroded or you just get tired of using four double a batteries. You can just directly connect a 9 volt battery I've had a lithium 9 volt battery just plug directly into the connector and it works great been using it that way for over 2 years on One battery
I have the Delta touch faucet and it started to turn off on and off when it wanted. Some times it would turn on the faucet when no one was near it. Then yesterday no matter what I did I could not get the water to turn on and yet the light would come on. I was given the idea to go on line to see if there was any info. I found this video and I had it fixed in 10 minutes. Thank you for the great learning tool. This would get 5+ stars
Such a simple fix! The wires were touching so the touch sensor was not working. After 10 years I was sure we would need a new faucet, but it now works fine! Thanks for this helpful video!!!
I had all but given up on the touch function for s while but lately I couldn't get any water pressure until today faucet just stopped working. Followed your video and steps and it's good as new! Thanks a million
Thanks for posting. I have done the battery tricks multiple times over the six years I have had one of these faucets, but hadn't needed to now for quite a while. I had forgotten some of the details and couldn't find my manual. You helped get me back on track! Thx! Love my faucet even if it has been persnickety a few times. It still works, and the touch feature is SO handy!!!
excellent work my friend. My valve was stuck open, reversed the polarity of the batteries and took apart to clean and now works. Thanks a million. Deltas replacement part if you had to purchase is $161.00!
Glad the video could help. Another trick I learned is if you have that little battery pack of the four double a batteries. If it evet gets wet or corroded just replace it with a 9 volt battery I had the same lithium ion 9v in my unit for 3 years and it's still running strong
It work!!! Just turned the contacts around on the battery pack just so they touch (plus to plus and negative to negative) for two seconds and presto!!! Saved me a plumbers bill. Thanks
I love my touch faucet and after 2 years it suddenly started to turn on and off by itself. I thought for sure it was gone. After 5 minutes we had it fixed. Thank you so much for the video!
This is so helpful. Thank you for posting. Reversing the current to the solenoid to reset it is genius! That's exactly what I needed. My faucet is working again. There is a lot of very helpful info in this video, but for me the key was at 6 minutes into the video.
Great troubleshooting video. Helped me solve my problem. The only other suggestion I would have is that on the Delta web site they recommend that you do not stand the battery pack vertically, but rather lay it flat in the cabinet away from anything else. They don't specify why but that is a recommendation.
Great advice. My faucet was not working at all. After resetting the solenoid by using the battery pack and reversing the poles the faucet would work manually. When I then reconnected the battery it would stop working again. So I reset the solenoid again and disconnected and restrung the battery wire, reconnected the battery and volia! it worked. Thanks for the great video.
I had no idea that the insulated wires couldn’t touch metal so the intermittent water was driving me crazy. Went through 3 selinoids thinking they were the problem. Just taped the wires to the back wall and all is good for now. Thank you.
Thank you so much for these great instructions!! I found you as soon as out tap stopped working and it took me less than 30 mins. to get it working again ... and I'm a 70-year-old and couldn't get under the sink. So helpful! I did discover something else at the same time ... earlier I had been using a stainless steel scouring pad and left it sitting by the faucet. When the tap stopped working the blue light also went out. At some point before I had the water running again, I noticed the scouring pad and moved it. Suddenly, the blue light came back on and I went AHA ... OH NO!! Don't tell me this wasn't working because of a metal short? I completed the repair and had to pin one of the cables out of the way so they didn't touch but it all worked perfectly. So I'm still not sure if the scouring pad had been moved earlier if all my effort would have been needed. At least I'll know how to fix it next time ... hopefully there isn't one tho!!!
Thanks Brett, I checked the items you described, and got the faucet working with success! I have a Delta 19922T and was able to complete the job. First, the battery was changed, the Aerator was checked for blockage, and I was about to check the hoses until I saw your video. Thankfully it was just restarting the Solenoid, you saved us money from getting a plumber!!! Thanks again!
Thank you! After a panic that I couldn't use my kitchen sink I sought out help via Google. Delta's troubleshooting was worthless. Your video was spot on, thank you!!!
Thanks for the video. It turns out my issue was a corroded terminal in the battery box but this video helped me eliminate all the other possible issues.
Ken, I had a similar issue and I figured out I could just plug a 9v battery into the adapter and I did not have to order that little cage that holds 4 AA batteries. I have been using a 9V for over a year and it works great.
Man, my faucet stopped working in Christmas Eve night. Found this video and BAM! I’m back up and running. Thank you sir for this video. You’re da man!!!
You're a rock star man!!!! I was at my wits end before I found your video. After separating the wires and resetting the solenoid, it works like a charm. The wires touching seems to have been the major problem, what a horrid design. Thank you for saving my sanity. Cheers!
had this faucet for 4 yrs no problems until today Christmas day. resetting the solenoid solved it for me. thanks. i dont think there is an issue with the faucet. it seams all solenoids have similar issues. thanks for the video
Jimmy Mac I found this video to be helpful. But my success was short lived. It did prove that my coil was working fine but the "black box" was the issue. So I wired the battery pack directly to the coil so the coil is always energized. This allows the facet to work in the "manual " mode, which I am happy to live with as I don't have to spend several hundred dollars to replace the faucet components or the actual faucet set.
Hey Brett, Great video I got my water running again thanks to you. Although my battery pack top was destroyed I figured I would use a 9volt battery to reset my sink. Hallelujah I have water it worked. I'm thinking about replacing this faucet with one where you just wave your hand over it. But I have to do more research. Thanks again for your help I really appreciate it.
Thanks for this video. Mine was sensing perfectly (light always toggled), but often wouldn't close the valve to turn off the water. I taped the orange wire to the wall to get it well away from all other wires, and it seems to work perfectly again.
Great video, these faucets are very sensitive to the wires touching each other or anything. If they do the faucet turns and off by itself, fails to supply water or doesn't respond to touch. My faucet was acting up and I simply turned the neck clip wire to face away from the control box as noted in the manual. Now it works perfectly again. If you have an issue, check the wires!
Thank -you so much Brett ! I see you created this video over 4 years ago. I’m so pleased I was able to find it ! I skimmed through quite a number of others who made videos on touch less faucet trouble-shooting, even from Delta . But none really addressed or took care of my problem area like yours . I really do appreciate this, because I seem to have lost the manual that came with the faucet. After putting in new batteries, your “reset” method worked perfectly and may have been one from the manual if I remember ? Also- our model is older and just doesn’t work the greatest. We have to touch it several times sometimes, then only once other times and just wanted to go back to discontinuing the touch feature. With your help, I was also able to do this. 😁 Thanks again !
Glad I was able to help you, honestly the 9-volt battery last three times as long as those double a batteries no idea why they didn't set it up to work that way in the first place
Thank you. This helped me get my faucet working properly again. I replaced the batteries and I had light and no response from the solenoid. Removed the new batteries for 30+ seconds fixed that fixed the light but the solenoid was still erratic, until I made sure the wires were not touching any metal on the sink or each other...very finicky.
When you arc the terminals with your battery, youre essentially retracting the magnet inside the solenoid back. If you do this and you still get the blue light working properly when you touch it but the water either doesnt turn on or turn off. Take the soleniod apart and clean it out. Its basically a magnetic plunger inside. The plastic retainer around the magnet is shit and will break causing the magnetic plunger to get stuck. Take the retainer out and inspect if its cracked, if so, all i did was wrap it with electrical tape. Use thin super glue to seal the crack. Remove the tape and reinstall everything. Everything works now
Thank you so much! My problem was as simple as changing out the batteries but I had no idea where the batteries were until I watched your video. Thank you again!!!
Thank you for this video it helped so much! I still hate this faucet, it is horrible and I would think twice before buying one. It was in the house already and may be replaced. More of a pain than it is worth IMO.
As mentioned below - you can easily take apart the solenoid, remove the small horizontal metal piston (looks like a 2 inch pencil) and spring, and you will have a "normal' faucet with no touch feature. Just remove 3 philips screws. My faucet is working perfecto, wifey happy, saved a plumber visit. =^)
I have the exact faucet. It drops at handle. I've removed top of handle, but can't unscrew nut to get to the seal & spring. You are the only one that has my exact faucet. Help!! Thanks.
Thanks for this video. In my case, the light was red and nothing worked. I didn't even know there were batteries. I changed them and everything worked just fine. I had imagined a costly and complex repair job over the holidays.
Sounds like the solenoid part is failing and wont open all the way. Try reversing the polarity back and forth with the battery pack a few time but if that doesn't work, may try replacing the solenoid part
same here..... one of the unlucky one that needs to replace the part, I tried to take the solenoid apart, can't figure out how to potentially fix the springs....
Thank you this was a big help. The touch issue is now resolved. The other problem I have is the inconsistent water pressure. Sometimes it is strong and sometimes weak. Have you encountered this issue. please advise.
No problem also another cool tip I figured out is if you have the battery pack that takes 4 AA batteries. You can actually disconnect that pack and directly connect it to a 9V Battery. It takes up a lot less space and lasts a long time before having to change it
I have no idea, actually found out by accident because the bottom of my sink got wet and corroded the little battery holder so I just tried the nine volt out of desperation. Over 2 1/2 years latter It’s still going strong off the one 9 V LOL
Mark B's answer to Mark B's question: Called and discussed with Delta support.... double check flow after taking end nozzle off. If still low-flow, probably bad solenoid. Very helpful at Delta (first class service). They are sending replacement 3-5 days... They can also walk you through how to bypass the black box until new one comes (makes the wife happy, for a minute :-).
Thanks. Lots of good info here. I've had the problem of the faucet spontaneously turning on. Think it might be wires touching metal. Odd, tho, why don't they just insulate the wires better?
Brett thank you for making this viedo this worked for me but only temporarily I tried to reset it again and no sparks I'm thinking i need a new solenoid can you please direct me on where to get one and if I will need a professional to swap it out.
NEW Solenoid Assembly was easy to install. Complete with NEW battery pack...Easy to follow instructions. Light came on pink and red versus Blue?.... then it settled back to Blue.Works good....
Thanks. Removing the batteries for 30sec didn't help but removing the battery pack from the harness, disconnecting the posit and negative wires to the solenoid and then touching the battery pack to the solenoid terminals while reversing polarity did the trick for me. Delta is sending me a new solenoid under warranty but we shall see how long this temporary "reset" fix lasts.
Good video, Brett. Have you replaced the cartridge on that faucet yet? I think mine needs a cartridge, and I'm looking for a little guidance. Got the handle off easily enough, but I'm stuck at this point.
Bret, Any words of wisdom regarding the low-flow problem (a mentioned by another commenter). No matter what I do, can only get a slow/low trickle of water (no hot, just cold).
I had a similar problem. After resetting the solenoid the issue kept reoccurring. I replaced my battery pack with a 9V battery and it is working (for now). I am assuming they use a battery pack instead of a 9V battery for a reason. However, I will use the 9V battery until I see a change.
I think it has to do with the rate at which the battery discharges, but after a year does the LED work and everything still works fine with the 9v battery?
Bret, thank you very much for this extremely helpful video. While Delta support staff tried to be helpful; they could not provide the instructional video and very important commentary that yours obviously does. You also saved me over $200 in order an unneeded part.
Had no water at all for THREE days - and your RESET information did the trick!

I assume it has to do with the spring tension and the weight of a D cell battery compressing them and losing contact over time.
This technique worked on my DL9159T faucet as well. Brett, you saved our family from so much grief!.

Just successfully changed out batteries. Thank u so much. So helpful.
Everything works now
Thanks Brett!!! Just followed your instructions and fixed my sink myself! Feeling pretty proud thanks to you!
Thanks for the video. I did all of the steps plus cleaning out the solenoid diaphragm and it is working just fine.
No problem I'm glad it was able to help
Thank you kind sir. This sink was installed to the place I bought and I had no idea what the heck was going on.
Brett...your expertise on resetting the solenoid worked upon first try! Thank you!!
hum.....I tried... worked for a few mins, then lost pressure again..... :-(
You just saved me $200 service call from a local plumber. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I have the exact faucet.
Just used your video to fix my problem, thank you very much 🙏😊
Thank you for the great video, my problem is still not solved though.. Have only a trickle of water flow, what would be the next step of debugging?
Same here!!
Thank you, resetting the solenoid fixed it for me.
Thank you this was a big help. The touch issue is now resolved. The other problem I have is the inconsistent water pressure. Sometimes it is strong and sometimes weak. Have you encountered this issue. please advise.
Thank you do much for your detailed video, resetting the solenoid was the key, faucet is working great.
No problem also another cool tip I figured out is if you have the battery pack that takes 4 AA batteries. You can actually disconnect that pack and directly connect it to a 9V Battery. It takes up a lot less space and lasts a long time before having to change it
It makes lots of sense, 6 4 AA =9V, I wonder why the installer did not considered that.
I have no idea, actually found out by accident because the bottom of my sink got wet and corroded the little battery holder so I just tried the nine volt out of desperation. Over 2 1/2 years latter It’s still going strong off the one 9 V LOL
Appreciate your help. Had no ideas the wires were so sensitive underneath.
Hi Mark. I have the same problem here. How much does the new solenoid cost? Thanks
Nice video Brett. Worked perfect for me! Thank you!
Tried resetting three times. It worked. At least for now. Thank you.
You are a rock star! I followed your advice and I have water again. Thanks so much!!
Thanks. Lots of good info here. I've had the problem of the faucet spontaneously turning on. Think it might be wires touching metal. Odd, tho, why don't they just insulate the wires better?
That's a good point,
Thank you!!! I was about to call a plumber, but after watching your video, I was able to fix it myself!!
Great video! Had been messing with this forever and thought I had a bad valve. Works perfectly after this! Thanks!
Your a life saver thanks. Worked like a charm
Fixed it thanks a lot for all the info. Mine is working again, due to watching this.
Thank you! I was able to fix the problem myself - with your help!
Brett thank you for making this viedo this worked for me but only temporarily I tried to reset it again and no sparks I'm thinking i need a new solenoid can you please direct me on where to get one and if I will need a professional to swap it out.
Wondering if that worked and how much does a new solenoid cost?
This works for me. Thank you so much.
I’ve gotta thank you for these instructions. I got the water running again for my family!
Thank you Brett just followed your instruction and viola reset solenoid and it worked. Great instruction thanks again
alan
Thank you . Faucet back up and running!!! Great video!!!
Thank you for your easy pace and simple instructions. You encouraged my attempt and successful repair.
Thank you much! We fixed by your video 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Thanks for the video...I have similar issue so jump start the solenoid one thing I will try!!
Thanks for the video , very helpful , got it fixed up in less then 5 min ....
I was ready to pull this faucet and you saved my day! Thanks again.
NEW Solenoid Assembly was easy to install. Complete with NEW battery pack...Easy to follow instructions. Light came on pink and red versus Blue?.... then it settled back to Blue.Works good....
Hayley Kelly , where I can buy the selenoid ?
Must have been incredibly hard to make this video during an earthquake. :)
😂
Thank you!!!!! This worked for me!!! So appreciate this video!
Excellent video, thanks
Thanks for the video. The resetting solenoid worked. Mine stopped working after 2 1/2 yrs.
Good video, Brett. Have you replaced the cartridge on that faucet yet? I think mine needs a cartridge, and I'm looking for a little guidance. Got the handle off easily enough, but I'm stuck at this point.
Very helpful. Thanks a lot.
It worked changed the batteries, thank you
Glad to hear 😀
When it goes solid red what? Audio cut out.
Bret, Any words of wisdom regarding the low-flow problem (a mentioned by another commenter). No matter what I do, can only get a slow/low trickle of water (no hot, just cold).
what ro water and soap dispenser do you have ?
I had a similar problem. After resetting the solenoid the issue kept reoccurring. I replaced my battery pack with a 9V battery and it is working (for now). I am assuming they use a battery pack instead of a 9V battery for a reason. However, I will use the 9V battery until I see a change.
I think it has to do with the rate at which the battery discharges, but after a year does the LED work and everything still works fine with the 9v battery?
Thanks for the video!my faucet working fine now
