This is great stuff! I love the Active Inference model of the brain, and I am very surprised by how much ignorance of it there is, especially around psychologists and therapists. I have been studying trauma from this model and contrasting it to the pop psychology of trauma, and the way clinicians work with it, and it is awful. For example: it can fixate people in a victim role by solidifying the ability of the brain to construe trauma-so, it has a paradoxical effect. Great content!

When you start seeing the patterns through the lens of Active Inference, it becomes clear how the narrative we live in, including many modern therapeutic approaches, can lock people into loops. It’s almost like society, in a way, sets up these roles and mental frameworks that are hard to break free from. The focus often stays on defining the problem, like trauma or victimhood, rather than creating new ways for the brain to adapt and actively re-engage with life. It's interesting how much this fits into a broader societal trend, where people are almost encouraged to stay in certain roles, rather than being empowered to reshape their narrative. Once you see it, it’s hard to unsee!

@@SelfGeneratedPodcast in some cases, it’s even required that therapists in training adhere to perspectives that solidify these narratives in clients. I am bringing another perspective in the field, so I will definitely be sharing your videos with the students I teach
