    My '04 driver side marker went out today. After poking around for 10 minutes I came to the conclusion that I needed some help from someone that has done this before... TH-cam here I come. Jamie, outstanding idea!!! Thanks for posting this.

    I just changed all my moms lights after watching this. This was the easiest thing ever and the mechanic had told he had to either take out the battery or remove the cover by the tire. Seriously thanks for this I just saved her about $200

      Lauren C This was a heck of an idea. I'm not sure if it would have worked for my after market lights, but I'll check out the method for fun. FYI, removing the battery is extremely simple as well. You just need a 10mm socket and less than five minutes to get it removed.

      Mike E. I was really impressed I was able to do it so easily, and thanks for the tip about the battery! She loves the car but it was a pain to get the lights changed before :)

    I unfortunately couldn’t get the wire harness out. I did try a cheap open-end small wrench I had (not sure if it was the 12 or 13 end), but I was able to get it in at the right angle and turn the whole thing loose.
    To do this I have to be back far enough so I can actually see the wrench on it. I was also able to get it back in with my fingers and then turn/tighten back with the wrench.

    Great idea. I just did this for the first time on the driver's side of my 2008 V6 Sport. My marker lights do not have an electrical connector to unplug. They are one piece and the whole thing comes out, wires attached, with a twist. They are also a lot easier to reach.

  • @TN_HondaDad

    I bought some LED's from Autozone, and replaced [super simple from your video] but now it's white light instead if amber? I thought the orange plastic makes the side light orange regardless of bulb color? What am I doing wrong? In the end, are your ambers or clear when viewing? You put a clear bulb in but the package stated amber?

    The side marker light on my 2005 4runner does also serve as a turn signal when the lights are on, when lights are off the amber day time running lights located below front bumper serve as running lights and turn signal / flashers. so worried about "LED Hyper flash" did you buy a resistor or upgrade your flasher control module for the new LED lights?

    Thanks Jamie. I have a few questions. First, did you have any problem with hyper flashing after installing the LED bulb, and if so, what did you do about it? And, I notice you're replacing an amber bulb with what appears to be a clear bulb. Did that new LED bulb end up being amber in color too? Anyway, thanks!

    I agree with the comment from Brinkley Stone. Why go to all of the trouble of posting this video, if you don't actually show the "money shot" of (1) disconnecting the plug and (2) getting the bulb socket out? Plus, you must have tiny little hands or something because even on the passenger side, it's not easy to disconnect the plug. And finally, my 17 mm deep socket does not fit tight enough on the bulb socket to get any grip on it. But, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I can barely get my fingers near the thing! I think I'll remove the battery and try a different socket or needle nose pliers.

    • @SARSquid79
      @SARSquid79  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why say "tiny little hands" are there big little hands, or tiny big hands? You should just say tiny hands or little hands but not "tiny little hands" it's redundant like saying "ATM Machine".

    In my book if yota charges $280 just buy OME parts and do it yourself yes, but no LED's and remove the battery, any time you work under the hood more than likely you're going to disconnect it anyways. PS if everyone on the roads today replaced all their lights with LED's there would be a lot more wrecks, they're blinding, to bright of lights, might make you see better from 15/20 feet off inside your vehicle you think, but in reality it blinds you well beyond 20/50 feet or more.

    • @SARSquid79
      @SARSquid79  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carl Smith - Sounds like your book isn’t one that anyone should read. I highly doubt that you disconnect your battery when you’re changing oil, or changing out your air filter. Not necessary for this either. Also, most auto manufacturers have switched over to LED lighting from the factory, so in a way everyone on the roads today *IS* replacing all their lights with LED and there is no major issue. Get a horse.

    I have a 2007 4Runner and this procedure absolutely does NOT work! The turn signal bulbs are inserted into the car with the twist, stab lock retainer with the two ears that have to be turned. There is no place on this connector to place a socket. Wish somebody had a way to do this. Even with the battery removed, you need tiny little hands to reach the socket!
