    Love the idea of an adult oriented sticker sheet that covers more of the part to minimize the gaps.

      Most people aren’t coordinated enough to put a sticker on perfectly. If stickers fit edge to edge on Lego pieces, there would likely be some overhang if the user slightly misplaced the sticker

    • @sams30001
      @sams30001 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am sure they can, but have always had this format with the gap around the edges. I think for certain themes and 18+ sets the edge to edge stickers idea makes alot of sense. Obviously for a younger builder if the sticker is not well positioned and hangs over the edge this would then get damaged or come off when the set is dismantled / rebuilt.

    I've got this ready to build this weekend. It looks great in comparison to the source. That's definitely not the Lego Porsche 919 I've got though (75887) which looks significantly better than the one in the video.

    • @JANGsLEGOreviews
      @JANGsLEGOreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It is indeed a 919, just a different one, the 1st gen style from set 75876. I didn't show that one as it has even other distracting design issues. Neither is close to the new model, of course.

    • @Winchester1979
      @Winchester1979 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The funny thing: There are only four pieces in the 2018 version of the Porsche 919 that did not exist in 2016, not counting prints or recolors. The vehicle base, the wheel arches, and the cut-corner 1x2 curved slopes (left and right). They could have made the 2016 version of the 919 look *much* closer to the 2018 version.... if they'd had the ideas they needed, or the negotiation skills to get it through review. I don't know which was more important, honestly. The pace at which Speed Champions has been evolving is pretty staggering, and not *all* of it is based on new parts.

    Regarding the stickers, I sometimes take the framing of the sticker that is left behind, and apply it on the model, completing the area. And, on the other hand, when it's just a small detail and a full area of the part colour, I cut them and apply them individually (like fog lights, logos, etc on the speed champions cars)

  • @rokushou
    @rokushou ปีที่แล้ว +7

    As a fellow gunpla builder and AFOL, I feel the Lego stickers with a "buffer" are actually harder to apply than edge-to-edge stickers. Even without accounting for gap optimization, it's a lot harder to get the sticker centered and straight since you can't rely on lining up the stickers with a corner or edge. Also I don't think many people apply the hundreds of detail stickers in gunpla, the important foil ones like eyes and color correction, sure, but the tiny clear-backed ones, nope. If you're straight-building there's no need for that level of detail (your time would be better spent doing other techniques) and if you paint, you pretty much have to use waterslides.

    So sad to see these jump in price to $25, while I get it things get more expensive etc, I just wish they'd raise prices by a dollar or two to represent that instead they feel the need to make everything a multiple of 5 for pricing for some reason, such that for these cheaper sets it really increases their price a large percentage

    It's not the issue of stickers but the quality of stickers. Non clear back Lego stickers, dries up and crack a million tiny pieces over a short while. I have new sets the self peel off on display cabinet where I never even played with. All my old speed champion suffering the fate. My 1994 mobile police command truck is still doing fine after decades. However non clear back 2004 onwards stickers had cracked a million ways. I made gundam too . I have no issues with clear back or water slides .. only patient are needed for water slides to dry.
    By the way Gundam are modeller toy that requires skills and patience. Lego are kids building blocks for semi instant play. Comparing both is like apple to orange.
