G5 could've honestly been tolerable if they just stuck to their roots and took from where G4 left us with. I would've loved to see Luster Dawn's development, maybe becoming Twilight's succesor, Council of Friendship's last meeting, Flurry Heart growing up and taking over the Crystal Empire, learning more about how she was born an alicorn, getting to see how the world "fell apart" (if it were to happpen that way), exploring other places of the MLP universe and just so much more.I hope G6 explores that but I doubt it.

Another reviewer suggested that perhaps those were teleported there as soon as magic returned (a few minutes after the collapse of the Lighthouse), then repaired/restored either magically or manually by the Breezies. . Perhaps Argyle moved them into the Night Market himself (years before his death), using his necklace as a magical key to open a portal [likely on that nearby cave with glowing crystals that Pipp & Zipp were trapped]. -> Another (more likely) possibility is that Sunny moved those items from storage (her temporary bedroom at Hitch´s "fully paid mortgage" unseen house) to Briddlewood´s Night Market offscreen [perhaps to properly "repay" for the gift of the "Rainbow of Light" locket].

There were two ways that G5 could have gone that would have worked well and it did neither: a) Serve as a continuation of G4 following Luster Dawn or the descendants of the Mane 6 and maintain flowing continuity with FIM b) Serve as a full reboot of MLP that utilized the charm and magic of G4 to tell another compelling MLP story that used the components of what made G4 successful and ignored the components that made G1-3 unsuccessful Instead, we got: c) Tie itself to G4 purely for marketing purposes while ignoring the lore and continuity of G4
Honestly it tries but fails to do so since G4 has its own set of rules and lore that G5 ignores (Plus there's the whole legal copyright thing with discovery family so they can't use the G4 nostalgia as much without paying heaps of money in copyright fees)

This is why G4 still to this date recieves fan art while little people really care to draw G5 characters. There's like a proportion of 10-1 and with the +10 years G4 has being part of the internet, it becomes a 100-1.
i'd highly reccomend checking out Makayro's video titled "why i like g5". it's a beautiful animatic from the viewpoint of someone who likes g5 while still acknowledging its flaws but really puts things into a interesting perspective. g5 has a small, but very friendly and heartwarming community. recently we have had so much hate and im glad you were respectful in this video while still making some good jokes. keep up the good content!!

No, they deliberately made Opalin such a lame villain, most likely believing that children are stupid and they don't need a good product. For Opalin to come out as a good villain, it's enough just to take the screenwriter's textbook "How to write a good villain for a children's cartoon" and just write a character based on it, but no, they didn't do that. Opalin violates all the laws of the "quality villain".

I think Hasbro could actually resolve the problem with the rights for G4 and use G5's full potential as the successor to G4. Like explore what happened to old Equestria and old characters, and give more locations. And, if G6 will also happen in the same universe, it could be cool if it was about Celestia and Luna backstory
The biggest mistake of G5 is that it chose to continue the world view of G4 without making reasonable arrangements and making a mess. And the comics cover also touches on the popularity of old G4 characters from time to time. . . This kind of behavior really disgusts me. Regarding the characters in the show, Sunny in G5M6 did not show too many scenes or outstanding abilities to reflect her leadership. On the contrary, Izzy is more like a leader. . . . I really have no intention of continuing to watch it. . .

I really hope we get a good mlp series again. Something reminiscent of the first 4 seasons of G4 G5 is just a bland imitation of G4, I don’t even have nostalgia for G4, I watched it way after it ended, and yeah it’s way better than G5. G4 was simple and fun, they only did the big events at the beginning and end of the seasons, while the rest of their series is slice of life fun. The current writers just don’t understand what made G4 good 😢
I used to watch TYT exclusively but ever since they spoiled MYM's finale every episode is just random and confusing. Walmart here in TX doesn't even have a shelf for pony merch. Sad.

I think the Equestria Girls G5 spin-off is good but if I was riding the show I would let it take place in the future world of where there are versions of the G5 human counterparts
The mlp fandom died by a 100 cuts. They abandon fantasy story telling for fuckin cupcakes n friendship bracelets. All the show needs is better animation, some seriousness, and a sprinkle of existentialism.
I think that the characters are decent and have potential, the character animation is not bad at all and even nice even though the ponies faces look humanoid in TYT but the writing for the episodes has been so lazy and uninspired the MyM episode where Spike was introduced was a big mess especially and doesn't make sense. Its like G5 won't stand on its own two legs and is clinging too much onto G4. It needs to develop its own unique identity.
So Universal has the rights to distribute A New Generation in theaters and who knows if on dvd. But I would keep an eye on this as it could lead to a new movie
Well this gen sadly didn't reach his potential, I was a brony when I was 10 years old, stopped watching at season 5 because I got bored with the show. Now I'm 22 years old, I wanted to revisit FIM because of nostalgia, then I got surprised that the show ended and a new generation was running, so I decided to take a look at this new gen and well... I enjoyed the movie, it was ok, a pretty good start , then I decided to watch the special and well... I was... "This absolutely sucks" I couldn't bring myself to watch the six chapters and the TYT series. So to save time, I was looking for recaps of the series and found your channel I watched all your reviews (I was cringing with the history of the chapters but your editing skills keep my watching videos they are so good lol) and I was disappointed how this gen destroyed G4 lore. This franchise turned into another generic kids show, maybe Hasbro wants it to be that way. So yeah that's my thoughts, I wouldn't be surprised if this show get cancelled at some point. Sorry if my English is bad, I'm a Spanish speaker.
The best way I can describe g5 is that it feels like g4 and g4 feels like g5. G5 feels more like it happened after gen 3 and not 4 because it just feels so hollow. And yes, I know it's seen as "not fair" to compare g5 to g4 but considering it's a direct continuation of g4 I think it's a fair to use in discussion. It just feels rushed and kinda empty.
I know I’m a bit late here but I wanted to talk about my “”””opinions”””” here on G5 as a whole. Since I joined the fandom when G5 was first airing, you would think that I would know about G5. I didn’t know that the series existed until chapter two was getting promoted. I barely even saw promotion for the other chapters even when I got into G5. I think this shows that G5 just never knew there audience. It acted like the brony community (the community that most likely was the reason that G5 was a sequel to G4 btw) never happened and their only audience was children. I don’t know if Hasbro just never cared about the fandom and only saw us as $$$-signs but if they did, they wouldn’t have canceled MYM and gave us a “”””GOOD”””” Mlp show. It seemed like the started to learn that lesson with TYT after two freaking years but still, was it worth it? I understand that Hasbro didn’t want to copy and paste MLP g4 and I support that and all but they only seemed to care about $$$ and never the audience witch G4 had its moments like that for sure but it had heart in its episodes. G5 never had a moment where it made me relate to the characters unlike G4. I’m not trying to be nostalgic but I feel like for a good show, you need to have characters that the audience can relate to. G5 barely has that (maybe with Misty but idk). That’s all I have to say on the matter.
G5 just isn't as good. They failed to make Pony for a younger audience; its just weaker entirely. And its because of two big reasons: 1. A few fundamental poor lore decisions, like deciding to make Twilight and the girls fuck up the magic, have Spike bail on Equestria, do this weaksauce Alicorn lore, etc. 2. Rush/Corporate Meddling All of point number 1 is fine- could literally be written off as one of Starlight's Bad Futures, if it weren't for this issue. (Just tweak one story of how one of the girls got their cutie mark in one historical account, and everything is forgiven by bronies. Except for the Alicorn stuff) We all saw how good they CAN be with the movie. Everything is good there. And all the musical spots in MYM are great. But holy shit, the animation, especially in the earlier episodes, often winds up looking like a 3D animatic with autogenerated inbetweens. And the scripts are likewise three drafts and a writer's room rap session away from solid G4 gold. (which isn't that much to ask of a household name like Hasbro and MLP) Tell your Tale is harder for me to judge because this kind of frenetic energy is difficult for me to tolerate most of the time. Yet I can't get enough of a hyperactive optimist like Molly McGee, so I really think its more a "Them" problem. I just can barely pay attention to most TYT content, it just feels like generic cartoon fodder that is very much not my cup of tea. There's just no goddamned point to TYT half the time, and MLP without a point needs some serious [[VIBES]] to carry it, like with the 80s Original Gangsters. Vibes which TYT maybe only really has for kids who grew up with this specific era of post-Flash, shortform Lolrandom animation. Looking at contemporary animation, I feel like it should have been able to do exactly what it's trying to do, but just be better. I think this G5 show also struggles from the corporate pressures and crunch, but not to the same degree as MYM, as 2D doesn't have to deal with shit like a certain pony not having ears due to character model approval bullshit. So TYT in general holds up better as a general product, but much less as a My Little Pony product. (And I know people do like this show, so I'm not going to rally to have it cancelled or anything. Someone's happy, animators are getting work, and I don't think the show is detrimental to the target audience, so I can't hate) Thinking back to what G4 did, cheesy as they were, those Friendship essays in the first chunk of FiM were made with real care, and made sure the writers stuck to the mission of emotional betterment of the characters in every single episode. Maybe gen 6 needs a Friendship Lesson type thing, or at least some kind of mission. maybe until they learn enough about Friendship to start effectively being proselytizers themselves. Or, if not Friendship, whatever moral mcguffin they're teaching the target audience.
G5 can work as long as long as G5 use different universe from G4 As older(Pre-G4) MLP generations rarely make more than 1 generations use same universe

Generations are setup at the Toy Level. -> The plastic molds/printers cost Millions of Dollars (each one last about 8 years). There is not going to be a "Generation 6" of MLP until (at least) 2028; with 2030 being a more reasonable date for its "reveal".

They are never going to "drop" their old toy business, because many of the "exit strategies" of the older shareholders (setup 30 years ago) are still tied by legallese to certain keywords that simply do not include the new paradigm of the Internet. -> They will keep going on with MLP even if it was not generating any money for a few years (it is not the case, it still gives a slightly surplus).
I miss the old 2d art style, mlp in 3d feels so wrong- although I know it’s unrealistic to wish for the same animation style and episode style for gen 6 in a different world and different characters.
I watched that Tell Your Tale 22 minute Izzy special twice and it was AWFUL! Like very bad. It's a bad Make Your Mark episode but WORSE! All it is it's just Izzy trying to find a way to get her creativity back by going to random places and taking to a high crystal unicorn, a giant pony definitely NOT a dragon, and a shoo be do sea pony. And the big bad cat tries to take back the Nova Charm but fails and Izzy finds an old broken down amusement park and repairs it with magic rainbows and creativity and Izzy gets a rainbow makeover. And then her friends show up and have fun and it's FINALLY over thank gosh. It sucks and I'm never going to watch it again. I'm going to watch the Bluey special instead.

Fans talking about stuff is fascinating. Some of the funniest shit I've seen lately has come from the Warrior Cat fandom and I have NO IDEA how much of it is real and how much of it is parody. I imagine its like when people hear bronies talk about the characters forgiving the lesbian cult horse for ending the apocalypse like, 14 times, and wondering which part of that is canon. Some other great fandoms are the Sonic fans (Especially the Snapcube team, their dubs are hilarious) and the Xena people are just Fandom Goals in a nutshell. They STILL have multiple events yearly

Perhaps a counter example may help: The "Fallout Equestria" Fandom is a "daughter" of the brony fandom that was created in between the first & second season of MLP:FiM. -> Unlike many others, it has managed to properly separate from the "Main Canon" of the series.

a) Serve as a continuation of G4 following Luster Dawn or the descendants of the Mane 6 and maintain flowing continuity with FIM
b) Serve as a full reboot of MLP that utilized the charm and magic of G4 to tell another compelling MLP story that used the components of what made G4 successful and ignored the components that made G1-3 unsuccessful
Instead, we got:
c) Tie itself to G4 purely for marketing purposes while ignoring the lore and continuity of G4

No, they deliberately made Opalin such a lame villain, most likely believing that children are stupid and they don't need a good product. For Opalin to come out as a good villain, it's enough just to take the screenwriter's textbook "How to write a good villain for a children's cartoon" and just write a character based on it, but no, they didn't do that. Opalin violates all the laws of the "quality villain".

My favorite episode of Tell Your Tale was when Mr. Beast appeared and spent a billion dollars to turn himself into an alicorn.
The biggest mistake of G5 is that it chose to continue the world view of G4 without making reasonable arrangements and making a mess. And the comics cover also touches on the popularity of old G4 characters from time to time. . . This kind of behavior really disgusts me. Regarding the characters in the show, Sunny in G5M6 did not show too many scenes or outstanding abilities to reflect her leadership. On the contrary, Izzy is more like a leader. . . . I really have no intention of continuing to watch it. . .

I think that the characters are decent and have potential, the character animation is not bad at all and even nice even though the ponies faces look humanoid in TYT but the writing for the episodes has been so lazy and uninspired the MyM episode where Spike was introduced was a big mess especially and doesn't make sense. Its like G5 won't stand on its own two legs and is clinging too much onto G4. It needs to develop its own unique identity.

Well this gen sadly didn't reach his potential, I was a brony when I was 10 years old, stopped watching at season 5 because I got bored with the show. Now I'm 22 years old, I wanted to revisit FIM because of nostalgia, then I got surprised that the show ended and a new generation was running, so I decided to take a look at this new gen and well... I enjoyed the movie, it was ok, a pretty good start , then I decided to watch the special and well... I was... "This absolutely sucks" I couldn't bring myself to watch the six chapters and the TYT series. So to save time, I was looking for recaps of the series and found your channel I watched all your reviews (I was cringing with the history of the chapters but your editing skills keep my watching videos they are so good lol) and I was disappointed how this gen destroyed G4 lore. This franchise turned into another generic kids show, maybe Hasbro wants it to be that way. So yeah that's my thoughts, I wouldn't be surprised if this show get cancelled at some point.

The best way I can describe g5 is that it feels like g4 and g4 feels like g5. G5 feels more like it happened after gen 3 and not 4 because it just feels so hollow. And yes, I know it's seen as "not fair" to compare g5 to g4 but considering it's a direct continuation of g4 I think it's a fair to use in discussion. It just feels rushed and kinda empty.
I know I’m a bit late here but I wanted to talk about my “”””opinions”””” here on G5 as a whole.
Since I joined the fandom when G5 was first airing, you would think that I would know about G5. I didn’t know that the series existed until chapter two was getting promoted. I barely even saw promotion for the other chapters even when I got into G5. I think this shows that G5 just never knew there audience. It acted like the brony community (the community that most likely was the reason that G5 was a sequel to G4 btw) never happened and their only audience was children. I don’t know if Hasbro just never cared about the fandom and only saw us as $$$-signs but if they did, they wouldn’t have canceled MYM and gave us a “”””GOOD”””” Mlp show. It seemed like the started to learn that lesson with TYT after two freaking years but still, was it worth it? I understand that Hasbro didn’t want to copy and paste MLP g4 and I support that and all but they only seemed to care about $$$ and never the audience witch G4 had its moments like that for sure but it had heart in its episodes. G5 never had a moment where it made me relate to the characters unlike G4. I’m not trying to be nostalgic but I feel like for a good show, you need to have characters that the audience can relate to. G5 barely has that (maybe with Misty but idk). That’s all I have to say on the matter.

G5 just isn't as good.
They failed to make Pony for a younger audience; its just weaker entirely.
And its because of two big reasons:
1. A few fundamental poor lore decisions, like deciding to make Twilight and the girls fuck up the magic, have Spike bail on Equestria, do this weaksauce Alicorn lore, etc.
2. Rush/Corporate Meddling
All of point number 1 is fine- could literally be written off as one of Starlight's Bad Futures, if it weren't for this issue. (Just tweak one story of how one of the girls got their cutie mark in one historical account, and everything is forgiven by bronies. Except for the Alicorn stuff)
We all saw how good they CAN be with the movie. Everything is good there. And all the musical spots in MYM are great.
But holy shit, the animation, especially in the earlier episodes, often winds up looking like a 3D animatic with autogenerated inbetweens.
And the scripts are likewise three drafts and a writer's room rap session away from solid G4 gold. (which isn't that much to ask of a household name like Hasbro and MLP)
Tell your Tale is harder for me to judge because this kind of frenetic energy is difficult for me to tolerate most of the time.
Yet I can't get enough of a hyperactive optimist like Molly McGee, so I really think its more a "Them" problem.
I just can barely pay attention to most TYT content, it just feels like generic cartoon fodder that is very much not my cup of tea.
There's just no goddamned point to TYT half the time, and MLP without a point needs some serious [[VIBES]] to carry it, like with the 80s Original Gangsters. Vibes which TYT maybe only really has for kids who grew up with this specific era of post-Flash, shortform Lolrandom animation. Looking at contemporary animation, I feel like it should have been able to do exactly what it's trying to do, but just be better.
I think this G5 show also struggles from the corporate pressures and crunch, but not to the same degree as MYM, as 2D doesn't have to deal with shit like a certain pony not having ears due to character model approval bullshit.
So TYT in general holds up better as a general product, but much less as a My Little Pony product.
(And I know people do like this show, so I'm not going to rally to have it cancelled or anything. Someone's happy, animators are getting work, and I don't think the show is detrimental to the target audience, so I can't hate)
Thinking back to what G4 did, cheesy as they were, those Friendship essays in the first chunk of FiM were made with real care, and made sure the writers stuck to the mission of emotional betterment of the characters in every single episode.
Maybe gen 6 needs a Friendship Lesson type thing, or at least some kind of mission. maybe until they learn enough about Friendship to start effectively being proselytizers themselves. Or, if not Friendship, whatever moral mcguffin they're teaching the target audience.
G5 can work as long as long as G5 use different universe from G4
As older(Pre-G4) MLP generations rarely make more than 1 generations use same universe

-> The plastic molds/printers cost Millions of Dollars (each one last about 8 years).

I watched that Tell Your Tale 22 minute Izzy special twice and it was AWFUL! Like very bad. It's a bad Make Your Mark episode but WORSE! All it is it's just Izzy trying to find a way to get her creativity back by going to random places and taking to a high crystal unicorn, a giant pony definitely NOT a dragon, and a shoo be do sea pony. And the big bad cat tries to take back the Nova Charm but fails and Izzy finds an old broken down amusement park and repairs it with magic rainbows and creativity and Izzy gets a rainbow makeover. And then her friends show up and have fun and it's FINALLY over thank gosh. It sucks and I'm never going to watch it again. I'm going to watch the Bluey special instead.
