Sorry I'm super late, I got the notification for the video when I was in the middle of season 5 and wanted to finish the season and get to the movie to get my full in context, and unspoiled opinions before watching. First off, great video as always man, the unhinged editing is absolutely hilarious every time I'm exposed to it. Second though, honestly it's kinda funny seeing someone who (at least from how you act in your videos) is not a fan of the show hold so many similar opinions to me who grew up with the show and loves it. I found myself unironically going afk in the middle of the movie, just booting up COD Ghosts to pass the time while half watching it, but like EVERY TIME without fail when Sunset showed up it was like the show hooked me again. She's just so consistently well written that it manages to get me invested. Then of course when the cliche excuse for a villain principle showed up and started to monologue I just kinda brain afk'd again until something got me reinvested. And you joked about it but consistently and I mean CONSISTENTLY Sunset would show up and have a scene, and I would just find myself saying, "Goddamn man I'm so happy they're doing Sunset justice in this movie." Like it didn't really click in those moments but she was CARRYING my enjoyment, and even all the way up till the very end scene where I had the unfortunate genius to guess what they were going to do with Twilight, (my exact words were, "I think they're going to make her a demon like Sunset but I don't know, SURELY they wouldn't do that a second time") but despite the insane silliness the writers were trying to pull Sunset was still keeping me invested by just being the carry character, and despite the transformation stuff I was really enjoying human Twilight too, and that ending fight scene was goofy, but when they brought it down to those two having real moments I just couldn't help but to enjoy it and smile. I also really liked all the scenes prior to the characters getting their magic stolen. It felt like re-watching the Season 1 premiere again in a weird but familiar way, and I liked this Twilight experiencing the magic of friendship for the first time with each of her soon to be friends. Again great video, I enjoy interacting because despite all the memes and layers of irony you actually care enough about your own content to give actual insight and opinions on what are probably the more important things in the media you cover, and I highly respect that dedication. I have not consumed any pony media past this point so here's to the hopium that they surely don't ruin the characters in the next installment :clueless:

The toys and the little quirks of the brand is the first to be checked off before the creativity. Which I think is the main reason why some films just flops. Like this one and the legend of everfree. While it is possible that it can be successful even with the marketing being the main point of a media existing, since heck, MLP G4 is the most successful out of all the other G4s with a solid show, and transformers also being a banger series of shows and films (some of them). But most of the time, there’s just very little creativity allowed because corporate capitalism and “oooh jingle jingle keychains kids look at this cool new doll so you stop getting your moms credit card wasted on Mattel and have it wasted on our brand” But hey, I’m just glad atleast the writers, animators and voice actors got paid and got food on the table.
Rainbow Rocks happened to have a banger soundtrack, and fun SIMPLE villans. It knocked the ball out of the park. All the other EQG ehhh... it's designed for little girls and it is decent enough to watch with your little sister or daughter as a dad.
