actually laughed out loud when you said you're looking for something to keep 20-30 years :D congrats on the new watch it's an absolute classic piece. I've been considering paring down recently as well I just have such a hard time letting go of most watches even though everytime I do I never regret it.
The Day Date really looks awesome, wear it in good health and happy times! Your move is a sign of maturity and a clearer perception of what YOU really want. I would no be surprised if decisions pertaining to other aspects of your life follow this approach or attitude. Coming back to watches I totally see you rocking a Blancpain Bathyscaphe in gold as a link in between the Pasha and the Day Date. A bold but an invigorating move, thank you for the great content!
Agreed. The VC breaks my heart. So hard to get and it was sold in such a short amount of time you wonder what was the real motivation to buy it in the first place.
I totally feel you! I just traded my entire collection of Breitling, Zenith, and Longines (4 watches total) for my first Rolex. It’s not gold, just a no date Submariner but had the same idea. Consolidate and go bigger. Congrats!
This is the king of watches! Especially with the gold, the yellow gold that attracted the admiration since the early history. I wish you happy days to enjoy this excellent timepiece!!!!
Good for you Bruce! I'm excited to follow you on your journey. Can't wait to see what's next. You've definitely inspired me to do what I want with my collection. At the end of the day, I'm the one who is wearing the watch and spending my hard earned money on it. We do it because it's what we love! Keep it up brother!
I have been watching your videos for a while so I remember a couple of videos you made debating with your friends this move or something else. In my head I went, “oh he’s def gonna sell it all and get the day-date” it fits you a lot and congratulations, man! Excited to see how else the collection grows over time
Wow, this will get a lot of commentary! Good luck on the reboot! Fun video, Bruce. Curious-will your AD still enjoy selling New Rolex to you since you are selling some pretty amazing pieces? Or do you think it may impact access to buying future coveted models because you have a track record of selling them after you experience them? I wish you well on the next phase of your watch journey.
Yes!!! So pumped and proud of you Bruce. Such a bold, fun, and epic move. As much as we love them, watches are just things. And can be replaced, swapped, sold if we need/want. No rules! I just sold 4 to finally get my white dial Seamaster 300. And couldn’t be happier! That gold looks incredible on you brother. All the congrats. 🏆
I could never do this and I certainly wouldn’t buy the same watches but you look like a kid on Christmas morning and that’s great to see. I hope you can keep your powder dry until you choose the pieces you really want. Enjoy the ride.
You were the first watch subscriber I had many years ago, I've been a student of yours and I'm not about to jump ship now. I understand what you are doing only because you have saw so many watches, you have more layers of decision making. Congrats, keep the journey fun and exciting my friend.
I've been telling my self the same story years ago, and since last year I already bought 4 watches total. And when my email gets a notication, it's a possibility for another watch deal..lol !! Enjoy in good health BW, that day date full gold is impressive. Thanks for sharing.
Where did you sell your watches? That’s one reason I haven’t done something similar. It is a huge headache trying sell watches online and it is rife with danger. I too have thought about a solid gold watch, but if /when I ever do it, it’s definitely going to be the 50th anniversary gold Speedmaster, if I can find one….
Hi Bruce, I’ve done the same! Not a gold watch but I’ve gone down to 2. After years of getting slightly obsessed with the hobby I sold everything and now have a breitling colt 41 with a grey dial and a Rolex explorer 2 16570 black dial. It feels great. Good luck with this new journey
Man you are the most indecisive TH-camr I know 😆 I don’t know how many times you’ve said, “this one I’m keeping forever!” Including that Sky Dweller. I think you’ll regret a few but that’s what makes your content unique even if it’s just silly
I wanted to add my congrats for this amazing acquisition. I’m so thankful you are recording and vlogging your collecting journey as you have one of the most interesting ones. Added bonus: your purchasing history with OC T. has just gone through the roof. Well done! 🤙
Now that is a wrist I want to see a president on! Congrats on the 100k Bruce, your channel is solid gold:) And consolidating into an 18k is an absolutely valid, bold, and totally awesome way to mark a transition in a collecting journey.
Wow, you really did it Bruce! Love to hear what your thought process about purchasing after this, what will be the difference for you to choose a watch before and now you want to keep it for long term? Anyway great job! I would never dare think about this move myself, but its nice to hear from all different side of watch collecting.
I couldn’t do what you’re doing, but I respect your decision to do whatever you like with your collection, and whatever makes you happy. That’s what this hobby is all about.
I think this is a great move Bruce. You've used your old watches well, and can now enjoy something truly stunning, as well as your lovely Cartier keeper.... It's about the journey
Bruce, the only crazy thing you've done in my opinion is letting go of your Overseas! That being said, I like this move. I'm a fan of going the road less traveled, i.e. Overseas instead of royal oak/nautilus. And in this case, funky Cartier and a classic , but non-hype/non-sports watch from rolex. I'm a fan! Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
I get this, I’ve done exactly the same. Built up a big collection and I’ve purged down to my Seiko Willard. It’s exciting for me because every time I purge I get closer to my perfect 3 watch collection
Recently bought a 36mm gold day-date president with the diamond markers. But now can’t put it down! My other watches have been summoned to the bottom drawer and the gold president is the king! Absolutely timeless and gorgeous !
Good on you - no down side to owning a Beautiful Gold DD. I tried the exact same watch in Waikiki a couple of months when holidays. The AD there was fantastic, happy for me try on anything. It is a seriously great watch.
Congrats Bruce, I'm a 2-tone, datejust owner...and honestly there's nothing quite as magical as a sparkling Rolex fluted bezel... Cheers, and enjoy your new piece!
So happy for you Bruce! You do you! It's a big move for you to start all over again with your watch collection, can't wait for your newer ones and/or watch reviews. You tell it like it is! I still love and miss the Overseas and the Sub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤
Everyone all ends where they started...with one. You don't need a watch to tell time, you just need it to tell a story and one is all you need for that 💯
Congrats Bruce! Blowing up your collection and getting down to one watch is incredibly liberating. It's fun to do every now and then, then slowly build it back up. I blew up my collection last year. I sold my Rolex Explorer, two tone Explorer and Air-King. Sold my Omega Speedmaster and Planet Ocean. Then bought a black dial 42mm Explorer II. I'm not sure I'll add anything for a while, but it was nice to cash out a ton of money and to start fresh. I'm anxious to see where your collection goes. Gold Day-Date for the win!!
Congrats!! Love the new gold DD! I'm also surprised you got rid of your Hulk and kept the Cartier. Curious if you sold your collection online or went thru someone? If you can share...
Yeah, that's what I wanna know. How did he get rid of so many high-end timepieces so quickly? I'm guessing that jewelry store he does business with, in Pennsylvania, bought everything off of him.
Sometime a reset can be all we need Bruce, off load the baggage and start over be it possessions or memories or what not. A fresh start to do what we want to do or get what we want to get without legacy external influence might just be the path to a new unknown highway we want to follow. I 100% agree with your decision. Take great care and many thanks for sharing. I look forward to the new journey.
Bruce, I Am so happy and excited for you! Kudos to you brother! I have a few watches as well, but I’ve always wanted a Rolex, day and date. I finally got it, through trading 5 watches for it, and a little cash. I got a vintage piece made in 1967! It’s a beauty, keeps great time, and I love mine. It’s a 1803, with a acrylic crystal, but I’ve always wanted one, and have loved it since I’ve gotten it! It’s not for sale, probably will for sure hand it down. But enjoy yours, I’m stoked for you brother!👍😊😊😊Matt
I’ve been thinking of same thing but “that time” still yet to come for me. A couple of years back, I tend to love bigger watches (43-45mm), but now towards smaller ones in the 39-41 range. I already started to let go my old collection yet one by one, to “wait and see” if I see any regret. So far so good. After watching this video, I feel like doing the same bold move to get my grail, the blue dial daytona in white gold. Such a phenomenal watch! ❤
Bruce, when I first got into the hobby, I thought your philosophy was crazy. But having spent some time in it, I now echo the "collecting watch experiences" mindset. Today I sold my favorite watch, something that I thought I would never part with. I drove to the post office two towns over because I kept getting cold feet. I literally did not pull the car into two post offices. I finally dropped it off. I'm relieved and excited for next steps in the hobby.
Congratulations Bruce! It’s looks great! That is a special watch. Get ready for some positive life changes that will come because of your new watch! Thanks for sharing.
I just did the same last month. it feels great to let em all go! I kept the Milgauss (my wedding watch) and my Seamaster pro, a gift from my girlfriend (now my wife) First new Watch; a vintage Daydate on a jubelee ( never had one before) from my birthyear! I’m happy ❤️
The day date in gold is a great new start, it never gets old with time. Couldn’t have picked a more classic piece. Continue your journey. Great video and congratulations
Beautiful watch. My brother's wife bought him this watch several years ago for his birthday. He wears it every day and is beating the crap out of it working on his boat, etc. So I bought him a nice gshock for a beater. He's older than me so I figure I'm next in line for this watch should anything ever happen to him. Wear it in good health.
A big move! I hope you are happy with the results! BUT if I wanted a an all gold watch and had the cash, a VC 222 would be the ticket. But the gold Rolex is still amazing.
Congratulations on the new purchase, I understand where you are coming from Bruce, you taste watches, enjoy the experience then taste another. I feel like this is the best way to enjoy watches. Collecting watches unless they have a sentimental value just develops into hoarding. The way you operate you get to have an experience with them all. My recommendation for your next purchases is high horology and some cheap fun stuff on the lower end as always.. have fun!
Hey Bruce, long time subscriber, although I'm somewhat shocked, I also am not surprised, you're one of those collectors who gets a grail, lives with it and then moves on to something different, it's like the fun or passion for you is in the experience more than the possession. Personally I think I attach too much sentimentality to my watches to do that but I always think about your perspective and wonder if it has more wisdom or enlightenment. Either way, I think that gold Rolex is by far one of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen. The roman numeral indices I think are what make it super special... Bravo and looking forward to where you go from here!
Congrats on the Day Date, Bruce. It is gorgeous and iconic. I've worked with scores of successful, wealthy business owners my entire career, and almost every one of my clients wears a yellow gold Day Date. I've always thought it was the perfect "end game" watch. Looking forward to a full review. Cheers!
Most people would have assumed the title of your video was click bait. Bruce, only you could do something like this. It’s why I watch your channel. I’ll be waiting and watching to see what you do next.
Nearly spat my coffee out when you defined what you meant by long term. They will be lucky to last 6 months never mind 20 years
yeah, he will sell it..he's said the same thing time and again. No hate to him. But he's totally delusional. It's just been a never ending circle.
actually laughed out loud when you said you're looking for something to keep 20-30 years :D congrats on the new watch it's an absolute classic piece. I've been considering paring down recently as well I just have such a hard time letting go of most watches even though everytime I do I never regret it.
There is nothing logical in this hobby. Enjoy the ride and thank you for allowing me to be a small part of it.
the first time you buy something more than a 40$ big brand quartz time teller you're into illogical territory lol
I love it
maybe it's not logical, but chronological 😂
@@kkrsnn5632 good one

I love Gold. Good choice!
Prediction: I think this will last in Bruce’s collection about the same as the Overseas.
Agreed. The VC breaks my heart. So hard to get and it was sold in such a short amount of time you wonder what was the real motivation to buy it in the first place.

Good call. Food for thought. Been at an loss as of late with my collection and things are feeling a bit stale. This could be an avenue to explore.
That’s awesome -your journey is not scripted; so, whatever you do, enjoy it!

Bruce will flip a watch before he even has it. Have fun! Great video!
I think this is a great move Bruce. You've used your old watches well, and can now enjoy something truly stunning, as well as your lovely Cartier keeper....
It's about the journey
Congratulations! I just did the same thing for a Moser. Feels great and I'm enjoying a watch I never would've gotten to check out otherwise
It's a brand who has pieces worth making some sacrifices for (:
Beautiful watches great value and some more...

Bruce. Only if you knew how often I thought about doing the same and restarting with a Day Date. Congrats brother
Congrats on 100k subs.

Happy for you Bruce! Congratulations for this new journey. Enjoy and have fun. Nice DD !
Congrats Bruce! Great addition To your collection! I wonder how your journey will pan out!👍🏻😍 Good Luck Brother!👌🏻
Congratulations on the new purchase, I understand where you are coming from Bruce, you taste watches, enjoy the experience then taste another. I feel like this is the best way to enjoy watches. My recommendation for your next purchases is high horology and some cheap fun stuff on the lower end as always.. have fun!
Congratulations on a wonderful purchase. I’m at the same point as you. Keeping my bb58, bb36 and my Panerai 380
Super congrats on you YG DD. That has been my favorite all time watch dating back to my teens in the late 90s!!!
