mr q45 - They committed several fouls. The Refs just didn't call them. The main one that stood out the most was the offensive flop on the Zags #2 when the MEM player backed him in for the mid range jumper.
First of all, I watch men's & women's basketball, so I've seen two gifted low-post players: Czinano & Timme. Czinano plays low post on Iowa's team with Caitlin "Shooter" Clarke. Timme plays low post with Chet "Mr. Three" Holgrem. Clark & Holgrem can shoot the lights out, but nobody in the women's game has low post moves like Monika Czinano. For sure, nobody in the world, except Cznano, has moves in the low post like Timme. They can spin to win. They both are good at getting the ball, making a move & shooting. They both can shoot with either hand. They never seem to be off balance. They are both undersized for the 21st Century low post. Can you imagine going to "basketball camp" as a 16-year-old kid and learning low-post moves from Monika Ciznanao or the Zag's Timme? I'd speak to the devil over a deal like that. I'm not saying I'm making any promises. I'd just "Bill Barr" my way to two weeks in camp.
Glad the zags proved me wrong (picked memphis). Nembhard and Timme stepped up big time. Timme actually had good footwork (Didn't travel a bunch). Arkansas is beatable, but bring your lunch pail.
There was a couple times when he traveled but for the most part yeah it was clean. A shame Memphis’s starters had to sit out most of the game or it probably would’ve been a blowout.

They were afforded those opportunities because the obvious plan from either the NCAA/CBS/ needed the Zags to win. Timmie set atleast 5 illegal screens during the game to open the floor for open 3s., Additionally, the center landed on Duren after a pump fake in the first half. It was hard to watch, and I wish that those uneven interpretations of fouls could be fixed. Just call the game straight up, and may the best team win.

Memphis strategy was to be physical with Gonzaga. “The ref can’t call everything.” BUT once the whistle tightens up you HAVE TO ADJUST. It’s not really that hard of a concept to understand. Also, the refs had little to do w this game so just stop that pathetic garbage. Zags shot 50% from the line so not sure how that wins them anything

If Holmgren wants to be an NBA threat I'd advise someone on his team to let him study Andrei Kirilenko. AK is one the most underrated players of the 2000 excellent defense great shot blocker and can make open shots when given time Chet's got the ball handling skills as did Andrei. The Kevin Durant comparisons need to stop while he does have some qualities he doesn't have the same instincts to be that great of a score and it'd be foolish to think he can match that kind of scoring if you could be Andrei Kirilenko his career would be a success he's a little taller too so that might help.
Whoever drafts that Chet kid needs to dedicate the entire year for strength and conditioning, because that kid is a project and should not start at the NBA level against guys weighing 50+ lbs more than him, that's ripe for abuse that will lead to injuries and broken confidence. Duren for all his inconsistencies can start and play meaningful minutes due to his NBA ready body.
Exactly as a zags fan I was way more confident in Suggs, solid from the get go although he’s not doing good in either in the NBA should have stayed another year, would have gotten the championship for sure
@@joecoolberry911 I see Holmgren as a Gobert lile player with a little more range only if and when he gains more strength and mass. The problem is Gobert was already 230 lbs as a rookie while this kid is under 200 lbs, how much more mass can be gain without sacrificing agility and quickness?
Very true, lately we've been throwing college players onto nba rosters expecting them to thrive and that's why we've been seeing a huge surge in injuries

Brutal as a Memphis fan, but let's be real the Zags probably deserve the ship more than anyone in the NCAA. They get so close year after year only to get stiffed in the most cruel fashion. I hope this is the year for them.
Yeah, true. I don’t know why everyone hates us
This may not be the best Gonzaga team ever, but every guy can create their own shot and are capable of getting 20 on any given night. Might be what they need to win it all
Any player on a top 25 team is capable of dropping 20 against Pepperdine, pacific and Santa Clara. Srsly you guys call Saint Mary’s a tough game.
Memphis was unbelievable as much as Timmy was with that hook. Zags are Zapped but won't forget these men.
What a game from both teams. Memphis players and fans have nothing to hang their head about. Everything they COULD to do to beat this team they did. It just wasn’t enough this time. Good luck to Gonzaga the rest of the way. #GoBuckeyes #OH
The fact that Drew Timme is said to go undrafted is absolutely ridiculous
Another year for him to dominate the court for the zags, hardly a loss
hard fought game.. good game Memphis.. you played well..
Profile pic? 🤨Pause
Serious question....how does a college basketball team play for 11 min and 36 seconds before committing a foul????
mr q45 - They committed several fouls. The Refs just didn't call them. The main one that stood out the most was the offensive flop on the Zags #2 when the MEM player backed him in for the mid range jumper.
Timme hook was on point tonight!!!!
Please timmie bring back the old School in the nba
Drew Timme DOMINATED with 25 Pts, 14 Rebs & 4 Asts! Check out his full game highlights: th-cam.com/video/LsUuw3TWBGM/w-d-xo.html
Really wish Memphis would've pulled this one off, great game.
The high-low action worked well for Memphis. Other teams will take note. But Gonzaga guards were great.
Refs need to do better in big games
They need to be replaced with machines they are awful
Glad the zags proved me wrong (picked memphis). Nembhard and Timme stepped up big time. Timme actually had good footwork (Didn't travel a bunch). Arkansas is beatable, but bring your lunch pail.
There was a couple times when he traveled but for the most part yeah it was clean. A shame Memphis’s starters had to sit out most of the game or it probably would’ve been a blowout.
Haters are quiet. 7 straight sweet sixteens.Zag Up!
They’re a one seed every year so I’m really not that impressed. Y’all should’ve lost in the first round if the game was fair
@@DP-cr1rg that was a blowout dude. The score was not surprising just flukey the other team wasn't down more.
@13thExit Strategy guessing he means not impressed by a 1 seed going to the sweet sixteen
@13thExit Strategy
This is some form of mass hysteria, these idiot haters are so dumb they have to share the same joke. This school has a total of 6000 students yet sends these big boys to flaming ruins and halfwits like this clown we're addressing can only critique and lie about officiating. 😅
We are still here lol y’all will never win a championship
Timme reminds me of Timmy
Tim Duncan? Not with Timme's penchant for controversy, judging by his postgame media interview lol.
Watching the 4 main bigs battle was so entertaining and Dandridge played well as well: Williams, holmgren, duren, timme
Is the full game available anywhere?
Bro Gonzaga - ya'll need to put a body on somebody. Don't just jump for the rebound you'll get crushed giving up that many offensive boards. Don't just jump, find a body
From Person sitting on his couch. lol
@@dmannevada5981 he ain’t wrong though. People on couches could come from basketball backgrounds. The concepts of basketball are the same whether you’re in AAU or the NBA. Find a body and box out when the ball is in the air; otherwise yes, you’ll be destroyed on the glass.
This game wouldn’t have been close if Gonzaga just made some of their free throws but ig they wanted to make it interesting
Refs help Gonzaga get back in this one. And you can’t tell me anything else
Can't you just be happy that your team played well but still lost. Stoping being salty the refs did fine.
@@MrNamelessTucker serious question, how does a physical team like Gonzaga play for 11 minutes and 36 seconds without committing a foul?
You can cry all the way from Portland to Memphis.
answer the question.
I'm a badgers fan, and this foul thing happened against Georgia state, I guess no one wants gonzaga to lose
Duren was bodying holmgren the whole time
Timme is so good. Well played and coached by the tigers but didn’t have an answer for that guy late
Did that Penny Hardaway forget how to call a time out?
Lol I think so, the opposing team goes on a run and your most valuable players are panting with their hands on their knees and you let them play on. Smh
WoW... what a battle... 🎶🏀🎶
everyone was talking about how chet was going to get bodied by duren this game, and now everyone's quiet. Duren was talking a lot for someone shooting 3/11...
Bruh Chet did get bodied by Duren ngl.
Good season Memphis💯💥🔥
Both teams are better than my lakers right now
When the lakers actually try tho, they’re godly
Haha! Ya the Lake show is more like a Swamp show this year!
Final 4 atmosphere. 2 teams who deserved to win
It was so crazy to see Timme almost single handedly bringing Zaga back early in the second half🤒
The other hand was the refs in the first 12 min
@@wellyd23 Did you not see Memphis get everything called in their favor in the first half? They were only winning because of uncalled fouls, they’re one of the dirtiest teams I’ve ever seen play.
@@MenofMathematica Memphis lead in fouls called that half too and Gonzaga shot FTs both half and you are delusional if you thought tough defense was dirty, stop being soft.
@@wellyd23 Tough defense isn’t using both hands to push someone/fouling horribly every possession. Good luck in the sweet sixteen. Oh wait, you guys couldn’t get through us🤣
@@MenofMathematica that’s crazy because I have a video of Drew Timme doing that to Tyler Harris😂 he must be dirty. Take those refs with you because that’s the only way Timme only gets two fouls.
Never seen a warning for flopping before but i like it.... the sooner we get flops out of basketball the better
lol the British dude on Baylor needed to be ejected after his 10 flops today
@@KP-ho9un for realllll... the refereeing in that game almost cost Carolina the win. It's ridiculous how Baylor's players suddenly get hit by a train when they get slightly nudged in the arm, no one wants to watch that.
Drew Timme looking like Cherokee Parks. And I think Penny blew the game with prideful coaching. Not calling any timeouts when them boys were clearly gassed. And also not rotating some of that talent you have on the bench. But a very good game that came down to coaching.
Great game
These refs are ruining the game
Yea a couple bad calls
Emmons gonna such a beast, even 17 freshman, still underrated
Nebhard wasn’t hitting those shots at Florida :(. Glad he’s doing well
Because Florida plays in a real conference. Send an average player in the sec to the wcc and they drop 15+ a game.
@@DP-cr1rg
Right, not because he improved or anything like that
@@DP-cr1rg That's not saying much for Memphis because he looked like a star player against them!
@@DP-cr1rg Everyone says how weak the WCC is. How is it Gonzaga goes to the sweet16 and beyond every year?
@Eric Hancock because they’re a 1 seed
Timme pulling up after the half like “I SAID we winning today”
Timme out here looking like Kevin McHale in the post 😂.
Nah This was a Great game
The announcer said Jalen Duren has never seen anything like this... didn't he play AAU ball against Chet?
More like Chet hasn’t seen anything like Jalen Duren. He literally tried to defend him and realized he wasn’t big enough so he just flopped.
i don’t have a problem with the fouls that were called in the second half, i have a problem with the same fouls not getting called in the first half(also zag players getting away with holding, but mistakes happen). The refs simply didn’t allow memphis to play the same physical type of basketball in the second half, like the zags coach complained about too much physicality or something. regardless, proud of memphis. good game timme
Insane
Mephis opened a lot of eyes on this program a few more recruits and they will be a powerhouse
I must say I overlooked Memphis just because Emoni Bates was so overhyped and then when he actually got on a college floor it turns out he was nowhere near ready. But the rest of the team is solid.
The refs did slow Memphis down tho
The foul count was Memphis 6 Gonzaga 0 with 8 minutes to go in the second half. Holmgren was called for flopping and didn’t get a blocking foul when Duren posterized him. I was sitting right behind the basket. Gonzaga beat the Tigers but for a heavyweight clash, there were way too many quick whistles.
@@justicebolden7710 yep
@@justicebolden7710nope & go watch NCAA tournament game with Baylor/North Carolina 58 fouls called but more should of been called it's called basketball not bully ball/wrestling/football game can't expect the refs to put whistle away when fouls happen
@@geno1825 I officiate HS BBALL in Northern California so I probably watch it more closely than most, especially 3 person crews. We always say make sure the first foul of the half is a good one. I didn’t see that yesterday.
Timme has great foot walk and offense skills.
Zags have it all. They will be tough to beat. Better get into their heads if you want to beat them.
They don't have athletes. A seasoned athletic team will handle them like Alabama and Duke did. They got exposed vs a 16 seed and a 9 seed full of 1st year players
They have twice the difficulty of a region compared to last year.
In the second half of the game you could see really how good Gonzaga is.
What a game. Memphis has incredible athletes, but Timme just can't miss. Holmgren looked like a liability at times against the Memphis bigs.
That boy looked like he was gonna break in half tryna guard them. Needa get his weight up.
@@yeaight8439 Chet gotta put on muscle but he still blocked 4 shots. I’m way more worried about his offensive consistency. I think he did well defensively his problem was grabbing and securing boards after getting a stop and that’s where he desperately needs more strength
Need to add some muscle but he is a lowkey great protector on the rim. Key blocks at the end of the game and throughout the game. In terms of offense I believe he can score alot but he is so unselfish and a great passer for a 7 fr tall.
Liability in what way? He was the longest guy on the court
@@701delbronx8 besides having a long reach he’s weak and gets out strength a lot
Drew Timme took atleast 5 shot that made me laugh at how good he is.
Ngl based off the highlights, Memphis should’ve won
Where up 12 pts and went 12 minutes without a foul
They got sent home.
I'm not gonna lie , Memphis was looking nice, made gonzaga look mediocre in the first half. I really do hope they stay together, Penny is getting them boys pro ready, their moves and sync and poise is on another level, if they stay together for another year and nobody stays greedy and buys into the team, they could make history next year!!! They didn't look like debutants at all, they really nice!
Idk bro Memphis has like 3 key seniors in Deandre Williams, Tyler Harris, and Alex Lomax. Duren (freshman) is goin str8 to the league lottery pick. Hopefully Emoni can stay and can learn from this experience. Lester and Dandrich will be seniors next year so they’ll stay but we need a PG bad since Tyler and Alex leaving
@@ChrisTerceroMusic also DeAndre William's is very lazy on defence, if he wants to play pro, he gotta work on that, He hurt the team in so many ways in this game lol. Just bcos hes offensively talented, people fail to realise what he lacks in the defence , he got to work , Timme got so many looks on him, looked like a scoring clinic . I think if he goes, Penny will get a better defender to fill his spot.
@@theawesomeinc_6483 Penny redshirted like 3 pretty good freshman from last year recruiting class hopefully they learn from watching from the sidelines and you right we need strong big man to fill Deandre his offense is nice defense could be better but he was the soul of the team bringing high energy and veteran presence. Imma miss this team
@@ChrisTerceroMusic likewise me bro, I was rooting for em to go all the way. I just feel sad the way some of em careers gotta end. This just goes a long way to show that, u gotta grind and get your resume looking nice cos your final year comes quickly and if your resume ain't lustrous, your chances of making the NBA is very slim. Penny got a lot of really solid players on his bench, I think hes getting them ready and really, Penny got a plan. I know people bash him sometimes but he got a plan and he wants to achieve it. Remember he didnt win a chip himself so him winning a chip validates him and makes his entire career wholesome. So hes chip hungry, and he got a level head too. With all that being said, Penny seems to be developing his guys right and over time when it comes full circle, I think Memphis will be up there with Dukes and the others.
@@ChrisTerceroMusic also, Memphis looked really advanced I'm telling you. If William's didnt give up so many iso plays on timme , Memphis could have gone through. Penny is working those boys seriously!!
Gonzaga would have won this game fairly comfortably if they had been competent -- at all -- from the free-throw line.

Memphis had them on the ropes
The refs do not call it fairly. I knew when he got the technical, what the second half would be. They never make it fair for both teams.
Timme looking like the better Mason era , what a good game go zags !!
Timme destroying Memphis st, shades of Bill Walton.
Make no bones about it this kid is a project and will need a season or 2 of intense strength and conditioning regimen to be able to handle the rigours of an NBA season, or else he could be constantly injured and never reach his potential.
I don’t know why people have such a hard time acknowledging the obvious. He’s just too small. He got pushed around by college bigs inside. I pray he doesn’t run into Embiid early his rookie year. They should just sit him that game.
He needs to stay in college for another two years and get big or play in the g league get bulked and get nba level experience
Great game, felt like the final to me.
