It's because nobody play defense. Everyone ducks out of the way when someone dunks. The whole game has become lazy. What make dunking exciting is back and forth between posterization and emphatic rejections.

The reason why people watch Men's basketball, is for the physicality. Strong post moves, dunks, fast plays, etc. Women can't play like that, so they have to play smarter and use more fundamentals. So now with the Men chucking up 3's all game, and not using any power in the paint, then why watch the Men play? This is why CC is so exciting to watch, and why she draws a crowd. Because she is so damn smart, and she is one of the best play makers to ever play the game. Throw in her ball handling and logo 3s, and there's your answer as to why the Women are starting to draw bigger crowds

Guaranteed contracts made (some) players entitled, many are there just to collect a check and don't seem to even enjoy basketball. There are too many teams for the level of talent. And the NBA media keeps talking about the same old teams, like the Lakers ad nauseam, never mention up and coming teams like OKC and Houston.

I'm with you 100% except for these two points:
    1) You said she wasn't about to throw NBA players under the bus, but IMO she did just that; she threw generations of Hall of Famers and GOATS under the bus, by attributing the declining NBA ratings to the greater skill of the current players.
    2) You said that given her situation, etc., this is more or less the answer you expected. I expected more from her-- both honesty, and knowledge of/respect for the NBA's history and its players.
If she's the serious student of the game I'd thought she was, she's being dishonest. If she actually believes what she said, she's ignorant. Either way, not what what I expected-- I was surprised.
And since it seems to me she's unlikely to be ignorant about the incredible skill of earlier NBA greats, I now see some of her previous media interaction and lack of it in a different light. Before, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, choosing to believe her reticence and phrasing were a function of tact and Midwestern manners, plus a laser-focus on only what she does on the court.
I no longer buy that image, but now see her not only as a great, dedicated andprobably/possibly big-hearted player, but also as one more image-savvy celeb who's part of an empire-building machine, saying what sells and staying "on brand" (barf).
Suckered again, and serves me right.

I think she answered the correct way being who she is. It has always been a difficult, (but fun) conversation about which generation of players were the best, or styles of older sports versus newer. The NBA seems to be trying to eliminate certain styles of players and/or position groups with their new wave of everyone needs to shoot 3's. Add Embiid with his comments about needing more rest, and you have a fan movement generally against the product. The midrange and physical under the net play, is all but being eliminated.

Some guy is arguing with me that to be considered a sport there has to be offense and defense which is just ridiculous. So he's saying track and field events are not a sport, or bowling golf, swimming, etc, but using that logic the NBA is not a sport most of the time because there is no defense being played. I haven't watched one minute of NBA this season and I have no intention of watching it.

I think the 3 point line should stay where it is, and no, we don't need a 4 point line. That will make things much worse! If it's boring now, it'll only be more boring then. But there should be a limit on 3 point shots made per player, per game. Maybe two 3 pointers per player per game, or two per half, or something like that. After that limit it only counts as 2 points.
This will force them to play toward the bucket.

Why do the people who can make decisions be so mystified about what's wrong with the NBA? Do their ears not work? I hear it over and over, too many 3;s, no defense, seems pretty clear to me. Not saying it would be easy to fix, well the broad outline is relatively easy, but getting it instituted might require a little effort. But they have the incentive of losing viewership to spur them to make the effort, but lack the leadership to make it happen.

Laughably untrue. Today's players suck in comparison.
And yes, no defense, and player management. The Washington Generals play better defense.
Jordan played all the games. Chamberlin played all the games and averaged over 48 minutes one season. When they actually played defense and never was the word physicality mentioned. 82 games a season, it's too much. Crybabies.

How about NBA only allowed 10 3-point attempts per half. Dunks also only 10 attempts from above the rim per half. There are 7'9" players coming up this will quell standing in paint for easy points. They can shoot beyond the circle but only count as two-point play after the 10 "ATTEMPTS" has been reached! This could increase layup, mids, floaters and other shots. Also increasing the need for a real defensive game plan as well.

Fewer games is not the problem, it is exactly as you said, boring ass dunk, three pointer, dunk, three pointer, dunk, three pointer, rinse and repeat.
Load management is purely BUFFALO BISCUITS, for lazy players (LeChina James) would Michael or Kobe or Bird have taken a game off Dr. J? Bob Cousy? To be more current, Tim Duncan?
