VINTAGE Polaris AND Arctic Cat Snowmobiles - Will They Run? (WITH MILLENNIAL FARMER!)

- Sitting for a combined a 27 years, tucked away in a quite Quonset in mid-western Minnesota, sat these vintage Polaris 700, and Arctic Cat 500 El' Tigre snowmobiles. The Polaris was purchased new by Zach's father In 97', which is really cool. The El' Tigre was stored in 1999 half way through some repairs. Think we can get both to run and ride again? *Thank you to the farmer who let us film on his property - nice feller.

Back when I was 10 years old my Dad bought a brand new El Tigre' and man o man was he the cock of the block! I remember us driving it to the grocery store shortly after he got it because we got snowed in, but anyway we came out of the store and there was a crowd of people around his machine (small town farmers get excited about the little things) all I remember thinking was how awesome it was to have the big dawg draw at the grocery store. The old man fired her up and everyone standing around got all excited and my Dad didn't disappoint the old boys. He told me to hang on tight and he tore out of there snow flying in all directions and I'm pretty sure I still had a grin on my face when I went to bed that night. So, my vote is to definitely have a follow up with the old girl. I'd love to see her purring again!

They were very popular up here in Canada but many did forget they were ‘fa’s’ aka free air which meant you don’t run them slow or lugging..they are meant to be out on the lake and a couple of ticks from take-off. Run Em slow and kill em dead. Guys often used a cooler plug and/or richer fuel which of course ultimately ended in a foiled plug and often dead coils. It’s a whole chain type thing what goes wrong. Keep an eye on those temp gauges. 😉 purrrr kitty purrrr.
We had a panther, a cheetah and finally a Tigre` then many other brands...winter loooong in Canada.

@@destro420qc6 The 600 was my project too. Here is a little fun fact! The 600 cost the exact same to produce as the 700 right down to then penny. Polaris lost money on every 600 sold over the 700!

Young stoner. Had 97 xtra 10 600. Triple plped triple dg can Psi 800 kit. 151 track. Monster. But have to admit twins make tons of HP.
It's tough when you are the type that wants things to run. Some machines aren't worth the time, but that hasnt stopped me yet.

It is great to see those kids excited as soon as that old sled fired up! I can remember being a little one and helping my dad work on old lawnmowers or really anything with motor and being excited whenever anything was brought back to life.

Love the faces on the kids when the Polaris came to life, makes it all worthwhile. Another great video Derek, keep them coming. I raced snowmobile oval track and hill climbs in winter and grass drags in the summer running Arctic Cats from1970 to 1975. I live in New York and we raced local events and at Booneville, NY. Had a 634cc Panther with chrome side pipes, 500 ElTigre, 650cc Chaparral, Yamaha 433, Sno-Jet SST 440. Great times.
When I was younger I used to get mad and throw wrenches and kick fenders. This channel has tought me to just deal with whatever happens. Thank you Derek. You are a hell of a guy.

Man these videos bring me back. I had more old than sleds than I can remember, including a 75 Suzuki fury, 76 El tigra and 79 El tigra. 98 was a great year. My best friend bought one of these XC 700's and I went from a Polaris 650 triple to a 98 Yamaha srx 700.

Polaris now has swing arms on the rear like a street bike, have for about 10 years or so
Polaris had it in the early 80's the skidoo copied it later on
