Just bought a bBurris 5x25x50 XTR II to mount it on a Ruger Precision Rifle in 308. Seen this combination by a Friend... must say it was the best ever used before. Absolutely incredible sight for this pricelevel clear Optik and very easy to use. Had some experience with other glases same prices but this FFP glas does ist Work absolutely good.
BURRIS XTR 2 and VERACITY Line are AMAZING.... BURRIS gives you MUCH MORE QUALITY than VORTEX hands down.... The glass is the same however, BURRIS LENSES are 30% thicker which means 30% MORE LIGHT RETAINING on each lens, better clarity due to better brighter lens coatings, FFP, S PARALLAX, awesome reticles, very robust, 30mm and 34mm tubes, and they perform flawlessly.... Especially high end of zoom.... Long distance target clarity and brightness is where you see the biggest difference between them and the Pst.. And its a noticable difference in favor of BURRIS. They give you every high end option in each line for an AMAZONG PRICE.
2nd focal plane is nice for LE and varmint hunters. If you crank the power the reticle doesn't get thicker so you see and hit smaller targets. I think that's why the most popular night force is SFP. But as far as what I use its all FFP. Great video. I'm thinking of putting one of these on my wife's 700 build.
Just bought the 4-20x50 XTR2. Everywhere it is said that it is an exceptional/excellent price/quality ratio scope . "Exceptional/excellent" ....no..... It is well built, the turret seem to track correctly which is of prime importance, the zero setting is rather simple, it is a good looking scope, nothing mushy or hard to turn, that's already a lot ! It has no locking eyepiece setting, but many don't which is a pity really, simple cheap device should be on every scope. 34mm tube to assure rigidity and to catch the box easily, FFP, turrets matching reticle, this scope ticks the right specifications. The illumination ring isn't stiff enough it can be turn too easily. Now, the glass, it is no ED glass and you'll see chromatic aberrations, it is clear and sharp but this is no tier glass .....so you cannot compare it to 2000$+ scopes with ED glass. This scope is well set at its price and it shouldn't be more than that or it will lose its attraction. So, it is up to each individual to see if you need top of the line glass, as for me, the chromatic aberrations are not a deal breakers AT ALL. I guess many won't even notice! Conclusion : very good scope at the right price, and in this price range there are not many scopes of interest, everyone should lurk on this Burris badly.
Like literal "Drop testing"? of the scope from distances? I am not aware of any testing. What I will say is that whole idea of bomb proof testing can be over done and is usually a gimmick. If your rifle falls off of a 4 wheeler or breaks attachment from your sling, I would submit it will be alright, like any good quality optic. What we are concerned with is repeatable use, I can say, we have tested and know people who have used these on .338 rifles and the rifle is dead zeroed after a full class of heavy hitters. End of the day, great optics, reliable, and will withstand most daily slips and falls. BTW all of these optics have incredible warranties.
Nice vid. I'm looking at a scope for my Wilson urban super sniper. I will be mainly target shooting and yote hunting. Which optic would be best Burris xtr 4-40 vortex viper pst 4-16 or the Nightforce shv 4-14. What I like about the first 2 is they r featured packed. The the last well it's a Nightforce. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
If weight isn't a factor, for shooting 1,000 yards with a .308, do you recommend 5-25x50 or 8-40x50 for the XTR II? (I noticed that the two are around the same price.)
+Bryce Decker I'm looking at the 4x20 with the H59 reticle, I'll be shooting a stealth 6.5 Creed, will the 20x be plenty to let me see targets at 1k yards, I like the H59 reticle and it's only offered in the 4x20. I wish they would put the H59 in the 5x25! Thanks and any help would be appreciated!
I shoot three gun competition and currently using a Leopold Vari X III 2.5 to 8 that has caps that cover the Turrets. I'm very interested in going to the Burris XTR II 1-5x24 but Burris does not offer any protection on their scopes to protect the Turrets from damage or rotating. I have spoken to a number of professional 3 gun competitors and they claim that they stop using Burris scopes because the Turrets was altered during the course of the match and resulted to losing its zero. Will Burris be offering in the future a method of locking or covering the Turrets?
Did you have a chance to see all of the review? I did compare them to German and Swiss class for that matter. The glass doesn't compare to Tangent, SB or Kahles, but for the price of each unit, its a great option for the next best thing. Someone could buy three of these for one of those and be pretty confident with his or her purchase.
Glad to see another video on the Burris XTR II

Very cool.
Hey can you do a review on the Burris 8-40-50mm model. Really thinking about getting one but no one did a review on one yet.
Did you end up getting the 8-40? I am considering it for my RPR- still haven't found many videos on the 8-40 on here
It is a second focal plane scope designed for f class.

Have you heard of any drop testing on the Burris?

Thanks for the review! I am from Loveland, and will have to stop in sometime.

Burris XTR II 4-20x50 with SCR reticle. Sorry it took nine years to reply. Busy. 😅
what's longest range on that smallest one what is it 1to5 thanks I really am thinking of getting one

idiots, better to have to much and not need than to need it and not have it! 8-40x50
How does this stack up to the Bushnell Tactical and Vortex PST?
Both of those are good. But the Burris has better glass. And more elevation.
3:32. He said doo-doo.

An american company but their xtr 2 scopes are made in the Philippines.
single digit ranging over 1,000 yards lol funny dude
Yea but I bet the glass sucks on these Burris if you're comparing them to the tier one German glass

German glass won't make my venison taste better, just sayin.
ya let me go buy a 5,000 scope so the glass is a little better. cry me a fucking river.
