The most famous viking would probably be Leif Ericsson for 'discovering' America, or Cnut the Great who created the only viking empire in history, or Rurik who founded Russia/Ukraine/Belarus, or even William the Conqueror. Ivar may have died fighting in England, or he may have carved out a kingdom in Ireland, but overall Ivar had less of a legacy than many other famous vikings.
@@unifieddynasty The thing is that Bjorn and Ivar was very early in history and Leif Eriksson only became famous because there was so much written from a first hand account. The Rus vikings we don't really know much about but the Varangians we know were north men. Ivar and Björn was only told about from their enemies point of view. In their own societies Björn, Sigurd and Ivar was probably among the most famous until the Scandinavians became true christians a 300 years later.
50/50. Ivar is the most intelligent of them but he s was still a young wild frustrated kid. Thats why he lost. And im sure his journey taught him a lot
Well to be realistic here: Ragnar first choose to ask Ivar to go with him AFTER he had already asked the other sons. Ivar was basically the only one he had not asked. & if I rerember correctly, Ivar was pushing Ragnar to ask him. When it was the other sons, it was Ragnar himself that asked them. There is a BIG difference in that. So Ivar is basically not being truthful with how he was "choosing" by there father, but I do understand why, he himself would want to believe that. Sadly for him its simple not true.
that is a good point, but I think in that case, Ragnar, would never let his other sons come with him into the castle to begin with, because he would know they would never be allowed to return:)
Ragnar picked ivar to come with him because he needed someone he could convince King ecbert he wasnt a threat in order to get ecbert to help return him home. So obviously the cripple is the best choice for that. Its further proved by the fact that ragnar tried a last ditch effort to not have to sacrifice himself by trying to get all of his sons and their forces to come with him but when they all said no, ivar was his only choice. Thats why he asked ivar last, he was hoping it wouldnt come to that but it did. Im sure he also wanted to bond with him aswell but ragnars entire plan rested on someone making it back to kattegat and informing them of ragnars death, bjorn, ubba, or any of the others are strong and fierce warriors and ecbert would know they would be a threat and so would never let them leave, but everyone will always underestimate ivar due to his illness and so ragnar needed him.
Dalton evans That's true but don't forget that Ragnar told Ivar that he believed that it was him who was the most important for the future of thier people out of all his sons.Hirst also confirmed in a interview that Ragnar did believe that Ivar has the potential to be the greatness leader of all his sons if he can learn to control his angry and emotions better. The historical Ivar the boneless is also consider by many historians to have been the greatness viking leader period.Famed for being both incredibly smart and incredibly cruel.
Lawren Stewart oh no theres no doubt, ragnar believed in him alot and wanted ivar to be a big influence on the development of their people, but i do not think ragnar intended for ivar to be "the true heir to the great ragnar lothbrok" as ivar put it. To me i think ragnar always intended for bjorn to take over, he was always teaching bjorn lessons along their many journeys and battles together and he groomed him from the start. For example, in paris when ragnar is injured and him and bjorn are in his tent discussing their options, ragnar flat out says to bjorn Ragnar: "There will come a time when you will be responsible for our people." Bjorn: "You are our king." Ragnar: "For now, but when your time comes you must lead with your head not with your heart. Can you do that?" Bjorn: "Yes father." Ragnar: "I have something I only trust you do to for me." Where he proceeds to tell bjorn of his plans to take paris. Ragnar trusted no one else but bjorn to lead the army in ragnars absence while ragnar went in the coffin. That conversation illustrates to me his clear desire for bjorn to rule. Ragnar never showed that level of trust in ivar, he didnt even think he could tell ivar his real plans on how he was going to avenge the settlement in wessex, but trusted bjorn to lead their people into the city, there is a massive difference in the level of trust put into the two sons. Keep in mind also that bjorn is the eldest, bjorn fought along side his father for many years through many battles, he has led men into battle successfully before, he has had the chance to learn the most from his father and bjorn had already proven himself a capable leader in ragnars eyes. Ivar hadnt so much as been near a battle let alone actually fought in one at the time of ragnars death. Bjorn is the most realistic choice and ragnar would have known that. I believe 100% that ragnar wanted ivar to be a big part of the shaping of their future, but everything points to bjorn being ragnars choice to rule after him. What he said to ivar can be explained simply by the fact that ragnar knew he would be dead within the next 3 or 4 days and he was emotional and said that to ivar because he wanted to encourage ivar to be the best he can be and leave him with atleast a couple happy memories of his father since ragnar was gone most of ivars life. Ragnar was always a practical man, and bjorn is the most practical choice. He had proven himself not only to ragnar but their people too, ivar had done nothing at that point to suggest he was capable of succeeding ragnar, but bjorn had, bjorn is the obvious choice and all the evidence points to that being ragnars desire. Ragnars plan counted on someone making it back, ivar was the natural choice for that and thats one of the main reasons why ragnar brought him.
Dalton evans very true, Ragnar couldn’t take any of the other sons or they would have been killed for he planned, but they thought ivar was useless cripple so let him go. Bjorn was always raised to lead and put it this way it would have been teaching his younger brothers to fight and become men since Ragnar. Bjorn was always meant to be next king, I think him and lagertha I’ll eventually come to blows when he realises she also usurped him
Dalton evans Oh he deffinaly didn't see him as his true heir acrroding to Hirst . Hirst said At comic con that Ragnar has no true heir period. As for Ragnar saying that stuff to make Ivar feel more confident that could work if it wasn't for Hirst that Ragnar generally believed Ivar had the most potential out of all his sons in multiple interviews. That makes be think it wasn't just to boost his ego but was completely genuine. That's not to say that he straight chose Ivar to succeed him, based on Hirst staying Ragnar had no offiacial true heir as king, I don't think he had a chosen son period,I think he would just let whatever son proved the most worthy to take the throne. Now both Hirst and Ragnar day Ivar has the most potential but Ivar also hasva fatal flaw he can't control his angry, now this flaw could stop Ivar from using his full potential and allow Bjorn or Ubbe to take the throne or Ivar could master his angry and emotions and take the throne,it could go either way.
MICHAEL OATES Ivar is a rash child now but I'm not taking about how he is now I'm talking about potential and it's the creator and writer of the show who has said that Ragnar saw the most potential in Ivar,I'm sure the guy who writes the show knows better about how the characters feel then fans. If it was up to me I would want Ubbe on the throne of Kattegat and make Bjorn king of Sweden and Ivar king of Dublin or York like what happened in history, but I know Hirst isnt gonna do that.
It’s January 2021 now, the Vikings season 6b finale has been released and Bjorn had sacrificed himself for the freedom of his people and will be remembered as a true HERO and LEGEND.
Lol at the beginning of the show, one of the reasons rather issues the jarl was because the heel wouldn't want to raid anyone but Russia. They've already been there lol
I can't wait for this season! If you think about it, Ragnar's story was more of a prologue to the story, now we will see the real historical facts of the vikings. #TeamIvar
Bjorn is the head of the family, effectively. "..." feels he should be, he's the oldest son. Does anyone know what name does Michael say there? I'd appreciate the help, I'm working on spanish subtitles. Thanks!
He's not only the strongest but also the most humblest. Unlike Ivar he does not desire for power or any such greed. He, in the real sense replicate Ragnar more than any of his Sons.
kevin techi I think Ubbe is the most humble and the most like Ragnar overrall tbh.Acording to Hirst if Ubbe had it his way he would just live his life as a farmer and he's going to be the one of all the sons most determined to make peaceful settelments in England. While Bjorn does not desire power like Ivar he still wants fame Ubbe dosent care about any of that.
Lawren Stewart If there ever will be a one on one combat, we all know whats gonna happen. Bjorn is arguably the strongest fighter in the Viking series, Ivar does not even feature in top 10.
kevin techi one on one combat yes but Ivar is not gonna fight Bjorn on one on one ever.Ivar is supposed to be the smart one and that would be stupid. Ivar's skill lies on being better at battle strategies,he outsmarts enemies not out fights them.
Quite possibly. Or possibly the Emperor had his daughters lay with this Hercules lookalike. Awesome job noticing this connection. But weren't they first called the Hetaroia?
I recommend you take a look at this article, it is written in Spanish but you can easily translate it. thevalkyriesvigil.com/2013/09/11/aspecto-de-un-vikingo-i-los-peinados-en-la-era-vikinga/ There you can read clearly that the Vikings, in opposition to the classic stereotype of them, were quite careful and stylized people, even more than the Christians...
He is a great warrior and leader like ragnar .
Doubt he wants to lead, but to explore, like ragnar
And charismatic.
Dimitri Vincheov out of Ivar and Bjorn. Bjorn kingship isn’t heavily disputed like ivars is.
Ivar is the phsyco side of ragnar and bjorn the inspiring leader/explorer side
The most famous viking would probably be Leif Ericsson for 'discovering' America, or Cnut the Great who created the only viking empire in history, or Rurik who founded Russia/Ukraine/Belarus, or even William the Conqueror. Barrythe Speedster LMAO!!!
I am sorry to say this, but no one will ever be greater than Ragnar. Ivar and bjørn is pretty greate tho
MICHAEL OATES Yes, Ragnar had it all

#TeamBjørn !

Selim Sert here here

nico olsen plus if one of the others sons accepted to go they were killed by now.

I didn't like Bjorn when he first came back as a grown up but he's turned into a total boss
It’s January 2021 now, the Vikings season 6b finale has been released and Bjorn had sacrificed himself for the freedom of his people and will be remembered as a true HERO and LEGEND.
Björn is literally magically delicious. 😍
Bjorn is like one of the rare occasions a Canadian actor or American actor played a non American role , Bjorn actor is great as Ace in heels
such a fantastic actor
The series is finally expanding. Here we get the Arab world and Iceland. Next, they are already planning Russia.
Don't forget about the fact that Byzantine characters from the Byzantine Theme of Sicily are already planned
Why do you hate arabs?
Classymaru Nara Lets replace Arabs with Whites and
Southern Europe with Africa, Indian subcontinent, Australia and North America.
Lol at the beginning of the show, one of the reasons rather issues the jarl was because the heel wouldn't want to raid anyone but Russia. They've already been there lol
He’s got a big, huge head and I LOVE IT! So adorable. He enunciates his English very much like an American, although he’s Swedish.
plutorama Nope, he is from Canada.
why did they write that ragnar chose ivar when he asked all of his sons to join him before he even talked to ivar
Bjorn always will love you! Just like he’s dad 👌🙏
That is AWESOME!
Two best characters are Bjorn and Rollo.
WHOOO WANTS TO BE KING ? ⚔️⚔️
WyBe Prod I do
well.. i was a king.. in my past life... now im gonna be king again.
Waiting with love from land of wars
Also great!

Thanks!
"Certainly feels he should be"
Jimmy Campbell thank you!
Alloe me to disagree, Ivar was the ONLY one who wnated to go with Ragnar, Bjorn and Hvitserk wanted to sail the Tidless Sea
Name me a better writer than Michal Hirst. He is just excellent!
Why are there no closed caption settings for these videos?
How many episodes of this season?
I hope 20
Ok i was not expecting his normal voice
Cato survived the hunger games it seems
Bjorn is the OG
Bjorn gonna rip Ivar and his loonies!!
kevin techi No he's not
He's not only the strongest but also the most humblest. Unlike Ivar he does not desire for power or any such greed. He, in the real sense replicate Ragnar more than any of his Sons.

What is the name of the movie
Vikings, It's a series
Let's see Katheryn Winnick catch up on Lagertha next
the pictures are missing???? great sound, no pictures, just black
So Bjorn becomes the first Varangian?
Quite possibly. Or possibly the Emperor had his daughters lay with this Hercules lookalike. Awesome job noticing this connection. But weren't they first called the Hetaroia?
Thank God he got away from that pretty boy image he had in the first Hunger games.
без Рагнара будет не интересно
This is better than game of thrones
No it is not, sorry..
Why do their (bjorn and ivay) voices sound so soft
to replicate ragnars voice
2:02 XD
Wrong ivar was the last choice
i remember Ragnar and Rolo and giant bearded men fighting and now little kids are fighting ower the ipad.
well Bjorn is not a kid anymore.
The quality of this show died with Ragnar, it's pretty monotonous now
Ivar might be my least favorite character on Vikings ever
Kaden Ivar just might be the most important character on the show lmaooo
yep hate his character so much that he literally stopped me from watching the new season
i think the actor is terrible
Really?
#TeamIronside
#teamivar
Vikings with millennials haircuts 😢
Stamatis Stabos millenials copied them
after watching the show, I know a lot of people who want to use those haircuts now
There isn't much history about how the Vikings actually did their hair. But the styles here are fantastic.
yes you are right i found this probably copy them from that sculpture qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-17c23e2f105058766621e9bd4519269f.webp

#TeamIvartheboneless
#teamivar sorry
medusa The winning team.I still like Bjorn thought.
The actor is trying way too hard imo
