1/1 and feelin’ checkride ready! Lots of refreshers done on the MZeroA channel! All of YOU have a blessed, abundant, outstanding rest of your day, MZeroA!
Jason - I’m a student pilot in the solo phase. Watched this on 1/1 and really internalized your discussion on no flap landings and shallow approaches. I had a flap failure today in the C152 I’m training in and your video was etched in my mind. It helped give me the confidence to stay calm, ask ATC for an extended final for the shallow approach, and make a good landing without them. Thanks!
1 for 1 here! I LOVE the 31 day safer pilot challenge, thank you so much for all of the work your team puts into this. Gusting to 24? That's well beyond my personal minimums. Nicely done Jason, you make it look easy.
Get practice while you can. I have taken my own plane out of state and got caught in some very high gusty conditions. Once I landed in Evansville, IN and they were gusting 32knt. I was definitely fighting it but knew to keep up the speed and use only first notch. My first approach was bad so I went around they offered a cross runway which was right down the pipe and I greased it in. Another time headed back to FL I landed in Albany, GA and it was gusting all day getting hammered in GA, they had 29kn gusting and an envoy carrier in front of me had to go around. They offered me to change runways if I wanted and I just said let's see how I do first! I made it in though I wasn't straight on final. Go up with an instructor, gain experience and ability. Don't get up there with zero experience. I think it gave me so much confidence doing high 20knt gusting during my IFR. Go get training now.
My father (who flew a B-17 with the 8th US Army Airforce in 1944 - dad passed in 2011) always told me (I soloed in 1967 and no longer actively flying, due to my eyes) - the old adage - dad would say "There are old pilots and bold pilots but there are NO old bold pilots" THAT stayed with me, and THAT is why I'm here to talk about it. Of course we never had anything like this incredible channel! We had Langweiche's "Stick and Rudder" (I STILL have a copy!) I learned about flying from that! Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. NEVER ever stop learning!! Much love!
Happy New Year! One for one! I just passed my ppl checkride on November 25th, and your audiobook and videos helped IMMENSELY! My first solo trip after my checkride was on a pretty gusty day, and I kept repeating “just ride the waves” on final! 😂 I made one of my best landings yet - which was great because my sister was watching! Can’t wait to follow along this month. Thank you so much for helping GA pilots stay safe and proficient.
Even I am taking away something from this video, as a new CFI/CFII (a good pilot is always learning). Winds unexpectedly picked up the other night, flying back into my home airport with my student and I had to take the landing. 40 degree crosswind, 19 gusting 31. Beyond anything I had even experienced before! I knew I needed to come in faster, but for some reason I decided to use full flaps, which obviously didn’t help me in this situation. We were getting pushed around a lot and I nearly had to do a go-around but was able to get it stable enough for a safe landing. Lessons learned: use no flaps or only 10 degrees in this situation & don’t only rely on your students to check the weather prior to the flight. I should have checked and known that winds were going to pick up significantly! Thanks for the great content and lessons learned Jason!
Loved it Jason! One comment from my observation was not adjusting your control surfaces after exiting the runway since you now became not head on with the wind anymore. For me I flew tonight and got night current again but of course several more than just the 3 landings to a full stop. :-)
1:1.....I was having problems with my steep turns, another CFI turned me on to your channel. After watching your steep turns video, I flew again with my regular CFI....nailed it! Turbulence bumps at the end of each 360 (Lt then Rt). He was speechless, then I told him about MzeroA. Hoping to have my PPL by spring. Keep those videos coming!!
I had the opportunity to do a gusty landing this last weekend and remembered your video from the beginning of the year. I checked back in to see how much I remembered and applied as it was a much better landing than I was expecting. Seems I remembered a lot and did it pretty much like your video. Thanks for the video!
1 for 1, a few days late. In 1974, I learned to fly at Cheyenne, Wyoming, in the winds and the gusts... in a Cessna 150, N66100, learning in winds over 20, gusts over 30, or you didn't fly. Good training! Respect the wind/gusts! I regularly fly my Cessna 140 to from Fort Collins to Leadville, Colorado. Yes, I still teach mountain flying in Colorado. :-)
I'll try to complete the 31 day challenge but I'm starting one day late. Here we go.... The slip maneuver was just demonstrated to me by my CFII and I've gotta get that one for sure and many others as well. Am looking forward to it.
1 / 1 thank you Jason. I am currently working on my Private Pilot at ECP, Panama City FL. and Aviation Managment degree through School of Aeronautics Liberty University.
1 for 1 so far! If you can't fly in gusty winds, don't come out to West Texas! You would never get off the ground LOL! However if you want to know how to get comfortable in those situations then Lubbock and the surrounding area is THE place to learn.
1 for 1! Just got my PPL and MZEROA videos were a big part of my training and passing my tests! Looking forward to continuing my journey....with your help😊
1 for 1: Oh my gosh, I just encounter a 17kt gust crosswind landing two days ago. It wasn't good but it wasn't bad. I was blown a bit off center-line but did maintain positive control of the airplane and was able to get the plane back on center-line after touchdown. I will certainly be adding these techniques to my crosswind landing performance. Thanks again MzeroA for another amazing start to the best series y'all produce!!!! A lifetime fan for sure!!!!
Day 1. The last time I landed at KFMY RWY 5 in my Cherokee 180 I had a near miss with Skyhawk on final. I was on left base (I was cleared to land #1 and he was number 2 behind me) and the Skyhawk was straight in. As I was listening to the controller talk to both of us I figured out the Pilot of the Skyhawk was closer than he was reporting and then I got a visual, I turned to the and he went by me to the left. The controller then cleared me to land behind him with a little excitement in his voice. 😮 Good job landing in the gusty wind!
Hi Jason, just joined the channel. I really like what I have seen so far and I'm always striving to become a safer pilot, so I'm into the safer pilot challenge. I can see how you are striving for excellence and thought I would let you know that you may need to move this video up to the #1 slot in the playlist. It ended up in the #10 slot. Have a good landing!
Nice video but glad you listed to always check POH. My plane calls for full flap landings in gusty and crosswind landings so approaches are not shallow as yours was.
Hi Jason! 1 for 1! Happy New Year! Just passed my PPL checkride on Dec.29th. Listened to your audible to study for it and very thankful your book helped me a lot!
1 for 1 here Jason, Excellent content. Can't wait to hear the next 30 days! Gusty landings without the use of full flaps and increased airspeed is something that really helps. Keep the great content coming.
Just one more reason for us all to regularly practice landings in all flap configurations, to include no flap landings.
So true!!!!
One for one
Great video!
OUTSTANDING INFORMATIVE VIDEO SIR 👍😇👌🍻
1/1 and feelin’ checkride ready! Lots of refreshers done on the MZeroA channel! All of YOU have a blessed, abundant, outstanding rest of your day, MZeroA!

That landing was buttery smoooooth.
Let’s go!
I am one for one....I have been out of the air since July because of a severe broken leg, (5 fractures). I am very excited to get back when released..
One for one!! Ready for this January. PPL checkride on the 3rd so let’s do this.
1 for 1 here! I LOVE the 31 day safer pilot challenge, thank you so much for all of the work your team puts into this. Gusting to 24? That's well beyond my personal minimums. Nicely done Jason, you make it look easy.
1 of 1 here. Returned pilot. I’ve done it but it was a while ago.
Thank you my friend!!!! See you tomorrow for day 2!

1 for 1 on watching. Now gotta get out and fly a few to keep and improve proficiency. Thanks Jason !
Good information! I live in southern Idaho and we have plenty of wind here.
Oh yeah! It's January; I enjoyed the last two years of this. Thank you for doing it again 🙂
1 for 1.
