Cool unit. Love that classic squealer horn sound. Music to my ears. :) :). Im surprised at how rare they were.

Same, I have no idea why the SA76RS and Sears units are so common but these, the Wards/Mastercraft and Dayton models are so rare! Wish more would pop up

@@BAFVintage I couldn't understand that either considering it's a 9 volt unit. I wish one would pop up as well. Would be neat to have one of these along side my SA76RS.

I enjoy your domestic fire alarm videos.
    Edit: Keep it up.

Awesome vid! I saw that BRK patented their own horns, like the ones in the 769AC-I and 1839ACI. Kinda surprised the 77R uses the Kobishi horn

in the very beginning, they originally used Delta-Larm horns in the SS-718, which were made in USA and of the highest quality. I believe they determined late on in the SS-718's production run that Kobishi horns were cheaper, and to save a buck they used them up until the 80's. As you said, in this time they started manufacturing their own vibratory type horns in-house for use in their hardwired alarms, which continued until they discontinued the mechanical horns in favor of the piezoelectronic ones. They did not manufacture the piezo horns though, as the same casing they used has been seen used in multiple different fire alarm devices, obviously from the same OEM.

Nice video as always! Need to find myself a 77R and 76RS again to replace the ones… say it with me… LOST IN THE MOVE!
