I'm from Nova Scotia (about 2 hours from the world famous Peggy's Cove lighthouse), so I have been looking for a good tutorial on how to paint a lighthouse in a storm. I am so glad I stumbled upon this excellent video! I love how many purple tones are in this painting (it's always been my favourite colour). I haven't painted in a long time, but I recently discovered some of my artwork from high school in storage that I thought was long gone and it has inspired me to pick up the brushes again. I normally work with oil, but I would like to try acrylic.Thank you for this great video!

The Golden Ratio also called Phi. Criminal Minds did an episode detailing the whole theory & how it applies to art and, unfortunately, a serial killer's view of the world. Ok, forget the serial killer but the ratio is explained perfectly & Da Vinci used it in just about all of his paintings - especially the most famous ones. I love you guys. Angela, you've been such a help to me & Mark cracks me up so much. My hubby has the same sense of humor & he always hangs out with me when I paint on weekends giving me both support & laughter. Can't wait to try this one.

I can't believe you paint such beautiful clouds and waves with yr filbert. I would have to use a deerfoot stippler or my cloud brush from the Art Sherpa. I'ts amazing how easily you create them. This is a stunning painting and though I'm really a beginner, after taking a hiatus for 4 yrs, I think I will try this. It's just too awesome to pass up, If I follow along carefully with you I may be able to pull it off, you are quite an inspiration! I hate math, but aside from the technical aspects of Phi, it really is quite cool when you spot it in all his work. The funny thing is that I first learned about it in an episode of Criminal Minds & then did some more research on it.

Love your art, Mrs. Angela!! I'm a beginner... so just a few things to mention... side cam: not such a good idea for long periods... I can't see what your doing! I see the brush strokes but I really want to see what your doing on the canvas... I love your husband's personality! He makes me laugh out loud, but sometimes when he's talking, you keep going and I don't know what colors your mixing... so I feel lost... and sometimes I can't understand you because it sounds like mumbling... I know you don't do it in purpose and it's not all the time... but I loved this painting!!

Love the choice of colors in this piece, but what the heck was going on with your camera angle? Very annoying trying to watch you paint sideways and hard to tell sometimes what you were doing. Please take those sideshots out; it takes away from the experience of watching you..

Hi Angela. Do you usually spray your pallet before you start a painting?
Yes I spray it frequently. If too much pools up on the palette I will dab it off with a paper towel.

Fibonacci's Sequence is called the Golden Ratio. It looks a bit like a snail shell spiralling smaller and smaller.

My clouds got worse and worse until i threw the whole thing out. 😖
I follow better when the view is from the top -The sideways view isn't as clear
