I think the daughter is covering for her mother. She’ll learn a harsh lesson if her father does decide to sue her. Don’t cover for other people’s wrongdoings. You may end up on the hook.
Even then. They won't pay him back. I've sued my sons friend for damages and use of outstanding phone calls without my permission. (This was back when I still had landline)
I won $2000. And never received it. I went back to have his pay check garnished, then he quit,claiming disability, a bad back. So I lost out. I know he wasn't disabled bc I saw him doing things a bad back won't allow.

Ppl are missing the point. Judge doesn't care if daughter is telling the truth or not, and doesn't even need to look at her evidence. All she needs to know is "is your wife authorised?" yes she is authorised, and denies using the card, while the daughter admits to using it. So now bring the girl to court and both bring the evidence and she'll look into it.

The daughter did call her father to get the code, though. Would she go that far to cover for her mother? It would be easy enough to prove she used the information to pay for her own labs.
Hopefully the show provides this tape for him as evidence if it came to that.

JJ ignored his statement because he was ignoring hers. It doesn’t matter if he gave $1billion. There is a witness in court known to the plaintiff who is stating that she took the money. That witness is not the defendant. Case is closed.
Giving someone the 3 digits on the back of a card is giving them AUTHORIZATION to use it....PERIOD
The daughter did not have proof (the text) so why believe her?
In civil court the person making the claim (the plaintiff) has to be the one with proof , its called burden of proof
It is also assumed that statements made in court are true unless proven otherwise , which again it is on the plaintiff to provide proof that the defendant is lying
@@beccar180 I filed a small claims. I took my proof and the defendant showed his proof to counter my proof. It seems you're talking out of a book. Of course, both sides need proof if they want to win.

In this courts, it is the probability of the person telling the truth, and how much it makes sense. The judge needs to be able to spot a liar, hard job, but sometimes there is no proof other than what is said in court

The wife is not responsible but his daughter is because she admitted she used his credit card without his permission so therefore, his case against his wife is dismissed but he should be awarded in favor of his case against his daughter.
The thing is he didn't have a case against the daughter so legally the judge can't rule on a case thats not against the plaintiff on the docket.
The only way I see the wife being responsible is if he had proof the wife gave the card to the daughter knowingly. Unfortunately he doesn’t have proof of that
The judge has to rule on the case before her. It's like if there's a criminal trial and John Smith is being charged but the evidence points to his friend Sam Brown as being the true culprit. The jury can't say "We find John Smith not guilty, we find Sam Brown guilty instead" and the judge throw Sam Brown in prison. No, they have to let John off the hook and the DA has to bring a separate new case against Sam. Same here, the plaintiff now has to sue the daughter, Judge Judy can't just rule against her.

How? Did she force the daughter to get card info from dad? The daughter was very clear that she made contact with the dad to get the info and told him what she was using the money for! If what the ex-husband is saying is true about his adult daughter's unauthorized use of a medical card, then he needs to report this use to the insurance company.
The reason that the ex-husband kept referring to wanting not to break the law was that the adult daughter was older than 26 years old and she would be ineligible to remain under his medical plan in the current case. At 27 or 28 years old, the daughter has aged out of coverage under her father's medical plan. The daughter's medical coverage was likely terminated by the insurance company automatically on the day that she turned 26 years old.
Adult children under U.S. law (ACA/Obamacare) are only covered until age 26, After that age, the adult child can be covered under a parent's medical insurance if that person is disabled (and that disability was on record before either that person's 16th or 17th birthday). At least, that's been my experience.
The insurance company also asks the member (ex-husband) to report or confirm this information about his adult children. The daughter knows that she is not covered by her father's plan (why else would the daughter ask for certain codes from the medical card?). Her mother for sure knows that, too. The ex-wife is only authorized to use the card for her and her ex-husband's children under 26 years old who are still covered under the medical plan. Is the daughter covering for her mother's unauthorized use of the card?
So, if I was the ex-husband, I would use those phone numbers on the back of that medical card to have someone route his call to the administration office for the medical insurance plan to report the misuse of his insurance card.
Thanks for trying to explain the ramifications of the US medical system. It really is complicated isn't it? I reckon JJ had that figured out quite quickly and as a result the Father will make changes asap, especially having been on National TV.

Aren’t they talking about a credit card?? Not insurance card. You can’t present an insurance card to a lab or dr office and use it when you’re not covered on that plan. We verify coverage before you’re seen.

The ex-wife convinced the daughter to lie for her. She knows the father won't sue the daughter so she is using the daughter to get out of it. The daughter didn't want to use the money the father sent to pay for the expenses and the mother told her to use the father's card.

I dont understand why judy is believing the testimony of the girl saying she got a text message and used the card when she has no proof and wasnt authorized to use it, but the ex wife was, especially when he has the ex wifes email and signature on stuff. She just immediately goes to oh she forged it she knows shes not supposed to use it, but shes just ignoring evidence for testimony. I normally like judy but this feels like a serious misstep.

Because when someone admits to doing something illegal, there is no reason to dispute it. The case he raised wasn't against the daughter, the evidence is irrelevant, what is relevant is "is it the wife?" let's assume the daughter is lying and it is in fact the wife, the next question is "is the mum authorised to use the card?" answer is yes, so he has no case against the mum, she's authorised, tough luck
