As a custom and rod shop owner, and paint /body tech with over 45 years of experience and ALL the certificates you can get, I thank you!! I have to educate each of my customers on proper use of body fillers. I appreciate the fact that you are reaching a broader audience. And I've always said that no matter how long you have been doing this kind of work, you can always learn something new. Even from a bad bodyman! Like how not to do it! Lol. Again thanks guys.
Dude!! @10:55 The paper towel between the magnet and the hood!!! That's not even my car and I thank you for that!! Meanwhile I can't even get my mechanic to wipe the oil off his hands before he starts touching stuff inside the passenger cabin.
This episode was like a "Master Class" or intro to body work 101. I know there are millions of people who don't give a shit about this and never will but this is the stuff I love! getting people from your shop to talk about what it is they do is priceless. I would love for my 18 year old grandson to learn this stuff because it is such a great skill/art.
Back in the early 90's I was in a truck club and one of the members had used so much Bondo on a car door repair that the car was leaning to that side. He was forever known as Bondo Dan.
Charger looked like a rag top skylark for a short second then I saw the extra two feet long nose 🤥😉😊my high school tech teacher had a 68 skylark we shoe horned a 454 into. Painted it cherry red. Boy did it hook up and launch but also look good. Love the lines on it. Nothing like 60s American muscle 😊
I am old enough to remember riding in a 66-67 fastback Mustang one of my Mothers fellow teachers had. Although I remember it had a 6 cylinder not a Rouch V8 in it; LOL. It was green, not Texas A & M Yellow.
Grew up working with my Dad in his body shop from about 11-18 years old (left for the Navy). Fiberglass filler is different that "Bondo". He used a product in the 70's/'80's called White Lightning which was fiberglass reinforced. When someone wanted a job done on the cheap (friends) he could fix small holes on body panels or a gas tank with that stuff and it would last years (he hated doing that but, hey, it was the late 70's early 80's). That stuff played hell with a cheese grater if it was fully hardened, had to grind it smooth.
I actually like doing Body Work. I admit I am not very good, but I try. The more I have done it over the years the more I have learned, on my own. But luckily there are guys like yall that are willing to share your lifetime of experience to help teach a amature like myself. I am preparing to build me a offroad capable bug-out Truck/SUV and want to start from ground up. Seems so daunting and scary. My weakest link is welding. Would your guys be willing to do some videos on best practices for welding thin metals like body panels? At the moment all I have is a cheap wirefeed welder but I have seen some use those.
Hey guys you have my absolute dream job i don't say it's easy but its absolutely beautiful I was born and raised in Switzerland and here we can't do anything like you do i hope you know how much freedom you guys have I love your videos with all the details

I remember watching Hot Rod Garage with Boyd Coddington's shop and they did the same thing. The whole car would get covered in body filler and probably 90+% of it would end up as dust on the floor.

I love how the engine bay compartment looks so clean. The one who sands it manually i love how he works i experienced sanding trucks during my ojt here in philippines. I love your workplace guys thumbs up.
There's using it as a filler which is a no no than there's using it as a leveler which is a five thumbs up yes! 👍👍👍👍👍 One more thing have you guys done a nose to tail width chop to 6 more inches?
I'm a panel beater from Australia. But I was lucky to mainly work pre 1980 cars. Anything from c10 chefs, nova,Cadillacs and the best old Mazda rx3,rx4 and 1300's It now "panel beat8ng is replacing parts"
Big question I think most of us have is, are you part owner of the shop? Your intro typically tells everyone position but I don’t recall you mentioning your. 🤘🏻🤘🏻👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
😱 that mustang though 😍.. She’s perfect 👌🏼 But the passenger side nose of the hood is up higher than the driver side. You can tell by the gap in the chrome trim. Amazing work though. You guys do an awesome job! Thanks for explaining How body filler is supposed to be used by professionals
Hi, my first car as a young boy fifty-five years ago was a mini and there was so much rust on it that aluminium plates and Bondo (that was all I could get hold of at the time) replaced all the metal. There was so little steel left that I had to run wiring to each light as the earth that most cars got from the carcass was none existent.
All of em look pretty awesome brother. I'd love to bring y'all my 75 3/4 ton Ford and have it rebuilt but I don't know when I'd have the time to bring it .
Hey dude, that one was a tiny bit dry, but certainly informative. I just can't believe the amount of work/detail you put into builds. I am just very curious about costs. I realize that if someone has to ask "how much" the answer is if you have to ask, you can't afford it, but any tidbit of costs would be extremely interesting. For the record, whatever number you come up with would be money very well spent! Love your content.
Damn straight..... thats a nice Truck!!! Mine is a 2000. Sadly the lift pump went, then the VP44. $$$$ Ugh $$$$. Just got a new pump, its waiting on me to install it. Oh yeah, and a fuel pressure guage too. Maybe that'll keep me from killing this pump. LoL!
Thank you that would be nice to see shrinking cuz cuz most body working always stretching when you're pounding out or whatever it's always being stretched and out and stretched

@musclerodshop What is the paint color code for the orange on that mustang? Its almost like a prowler orange and that shit is my favorite. Killer Stang! Nice job!
Awesome looking car and can't wait to see more. Also on a serious note have you heard of the new EPA automotive laws that would make it illegal to modify any car beyond stock be it for track use or road use
6:20 we got a `66 thunderbird in our shop just liked it, on the rear quarterpanels there little rust holes everywhere under a 1/2" of bondo. might have to send it back out with that much if we dont wanna strip have the car of filler

The problem with body filler is when it's 1/2inch thick. Filler is fine if it's a skim coat but so many places with just use it to fill the dent instead of pulling it
So I have a big question for ya. Sound deadening: What is, in your opinion/to the best of your experience, the best way to reduce Noise and Heat intrusion into the cabin? What I'd like to know, is there a better more cost effective way to get similar results.
My father-in-law works for a body shop and he works on Lamborghinis Ferraris anything high in Maserati and they use body filler to you have to use it if you want a mirror shine on your car like he said I want there to learn how to do body work and I was surprised to find out he use body filler on these cars but he does very little but I have found out some things you cannot get out and you end up messing the car up more trying to shrink and get it out versus just using a little body filler. But you can go a little too crazy on it too trust me. LOL
The attention to detail... ON POINT. I'd kill to have a full ground up resto mod done by this shop. The day I hit the lottery I'm calling.
