Anyone or thing can have classic lines at any age but only becomes, A Classic, after aging gracefully. Just like both she and the plane are as beautiful today, as the day they were first introduced.
Her character added a lot of value to the movie (which was great) and added another emotional dimension. She was an old friend and a good listener as much as she was his ex/girlfriend. She has a commanding presence. The Iceman scene was also really powerful. Wow!
Absolutely agree. She has this charming, yet calming presence of a mature woman, its just lovely to watch her on-screen. Loved the scene with Ice and Mav as well the end part- "lets not ruin the moment with this question" LoL ! I never thought Top Gun would have such nostalgic value here in India. I was in a packed IMAX theatre with people cheering Tom Cruise's entry with jacket, bike et al and all the wisecracks and throwbacks etc. I have watched Top Gun probably dozens of times since my teenage days, and I don't mind watching TG-Maverick again in some time ! I am sure most of that cheering crowd thinks likewise.
The plot of this movie is I'm Tom Cruise and I'm awesome. Everything I do is amazing. And just when you thought he couldn't be any more narcissistic, of course he has to be more than the teacher. He has to be the hero. Every scene is extremely predictable. The character development is minimal...virtually nonexistent for most. The soundtrack was good. Some of the humor was ok. The charisma was there. Nothing against the actors at all. The problem was the movie itself.
I think she probably looked her best in Dark City. Seeing her in that tight black dress, bright red lipstick singing in a noir 1930s style gentlemen's club made her so friggin stunning! Not to knock on her now but she still looks absolutely gorgeous. I was so excited to see her again in Alita, and man was she looking good in her black sleeping lingerie in that movie... XD
"Classic beauty" lol. She shad massive plastic bobs in career opportunities. Not my definition of classic to say the least. I think she reduced the size later in her career and looked better.
I really liked her hair in the movie it softened her features. She was also very likable and I like that she has not filled her face with fillers and is as Kelly would say, age-appropriate
I saw the movie last night, and I thought that too. In a close scene you can clearly see wrinkle around her eyes and it was actually nice. She's beautiful and doesn't need any kind of botox to look better.
Exactly, they're nornal looking by the way I'm so happy it was no unnecessary, steamy sex scene ( I'm not prude, just tired of sex scenes) it was a very good action and feel good movie. Thank you
I saw a late night showing in London. It really is a love letter to classic film and cinema. The music and soft melody leading to the Danger Zone song at the beginning will bring a tear to your eye. The movie has everything. A fantastic pace, great story telling and heals the pain from the first. Tom Cruise has defeated any concept that cinema is dead. This movie needs to be experienced in the theater. Jennifer looks incredible as well!

Probably one of the smartest thing they did in Maverick was to give life to a character that was only mentioned in the first film. I know it's a small detail and anyone could've written it but somehow, I remember being fascinated by it. It also helped that I watched the first Top Gun movie hours before going to the cinema (I've only seen the original Top Gun when I was a kid and had fragments of memories of it prior to re-watching). And really, I always had a crush on Jennifer Connelly so having her in the movie is a treat because I never get to see much of her films. "Satisfying" is a word that best describes Top Gun: Maverick for me.

I was just stating they shot this movie or most of it 4 years ago back in 2018 which is a fact, so she was not in her 50s when she shot this particular movie but 47 just like Tom Cruise was not 60 while he was shooting this film. That's all. I know she looks far better than most actresses her age or less than half her age like many of those Disney or Nickelodeon star actresses. She looked great in Top Gun Maverick and I like that they did not airbrush or CGI her wrinkles or lines on her face in the movie which makes her look realistically and naturally beautiful as opposed to Hollywood's plastic surgery enchanced beauty standards. Not shaming those who chose to do it but it was nice to see an older couple like her and Tom romance on screen and look their age for the most part.

Finally saw this yesterday, 3 weeks after a release, on a Sunday afternoon to a SOLD OUT theater. This movie, from the very instant it began till the very last scene, captivated me. The thing that humanized him the most was this relationship. It made it obvious that inside that bravado and tenacity is a man who is still vulnerable. She definitely made this movie even more compelling than I had anticipated. The entire thing was just phenomenal. It was the kind of movie, you can NOT miss on the big screen. Incredible film.
Jennifer Connelly was so "In-Control", "Smart" and "HOT" in this movie. The audience loved how she played on Maverick. And the knowledge that Penny Benjamin finally got her man, is Marvelous.
I love Jennifer Connelly - especially because of her earlier work.. she’s always been amazing! What a real true woman.. I don’t think there’s any other actress who has aged throughout the years with so much integrity and dignity.. a true professional and a beautiful person!
I like her a lot she did a great job in Top Gun Maverick. I saw it last night. Best seen in IMAX. Kudos to Tom Cruise and producers and actors and crew they really made movie magic. She plays a romantic love interest and that's rare for a woman to have that role at that age bracket. Their relationship felt genuine and many have had the experience of a previous love interest coming back around years later.
I agree, despite Jennifer being in her early 50s she’s still nearly 10 years younger than Cruise. So it’s very honest, believable and appealing even if it’s only to middle age patrons old enough to remember the first Top Gun movie.

Top Gun Maverick is the first time I've seen Jennifer Connelly look like shes having fun on screen in an awfully long time. She usually plays sad and depressed people. It was good to see her smile for a change instead of pretty-cry as she usually does.
I first laid eyes on Jennifer Connelly in the 1990 movie "The Hot Spot" starring her and Don Johnson. That movie wasn't much, but I remember staring at the young 20 year old Connelly and thinking, "That woman is unbelievably hot". She was not only amazingly beautiful, she had a kind of natural innocence and purity that could not be faked or duplicated. I've seen most of her movies since then, and she has done nothing but become a wonderful actress while aging naturally and gracefully. Today she's 51 yrs old, and I would consider her still more beautiful than 99% of the Hollywood actresses today who are in their 20's to 40's.
Michael Strahan, the interviewer, did an amazing job here! He let structured the interview around her role and her own experiences (vs. making it all about Tom) and he gave her time to speak. Jennifer is incredibly eloquent, as usual :)

I was working on Naval Base Coronado when this movie was shot several years ago. They built a bar right on the beach on our base just for this movie! It was awesome! Cant wait to see it!

For sure the theater that I was in , everyone were cheering , laughing , shouting , clapping and holding they’re breath . All the emotions that we have in us came out in the movie TopGun … and at the end we all stood until the screen finished running to the end !!

It’s been a very smart move to include beautiful and talented Jennifer Connelly as Penny Benjamin, Maverick’s love interest. It gives continuity to the original story given that Kelly McGillis character Charlie wouldn’t be on the movie for obvious reasons. Maybe she could have made a cameo though.
My 19 year old daughter who didn't know the franchise loved it. We watched the 1986 movie half an hour before arriving at the theater. Have seen it twice. My wife who can't stand to leave the house to go to the movies went for the figure of Tom Cruise and loved it too. Top Gun: Maverick" proved that cinema doesn't have to be aimed at a single audience, it doesn't belong to a single "tribe". Teens, adults and seniors can enjoy the same experience, without needing a manual. It's been a while since I've seen so many people of different ages at the theater watching the same movie, I believe since the 90s maybe. Top Gun Maverick: the movie that saved the experience of going to the movie theater.

This movie brought people back into the theaters after our hibernation with COVID. Seeing the movie was exciting but also having interaction with a crowd of people eating my popcorn, Goobers and large soda.
Jennifer is just such a wonderful lovely person . I got to meet her during the making of blood diamond in Maputo Mozambique as I did a bit of work on the movie. A real lady and a gem !
I fell in love with Jennifer when I was 9 in 1987 after watching the movie Labyrinth, and I still find her an unbelievably attractive and beautiful woman in her fifties.
Love the nod to David Bowie in her debut scene, reminds me of a younger girl who played Sarah across from the Goblin King many years back. She is still my inner 8 year olds wildest crush. Still gorgeous. Labyrinth is my go to comfort movie still to this day.
No woke bs is what made this film great. Just great uplifting story which reminds us of the good days of cinema without agendas being shoved down our throats. Hollywood better take note!

It’s movies like this that make me miss working at Blockbuster in my high school years. It was my favorite, and likely will remain, my favorite job. I miss those days. What a great film!

It’s been a very smart move to include beautiful and talented Jennifer Connelly as Penny Benjamin, Maverick’s love interest. It gives continuity to the original story given that Kelly McGillis character Charlie wouldn’t be on the movie for obvious reasons. Maybe she could have made a cameo though.

My 19 year old daughter who didn't know the franchise loved it. We watched the 1986 movie half an hour before arriving at the theater. Have seen it twice. My wife who can't stand to leave the house to go to the movies went for the figure of Tom Cruise and loved it too. Top Gun: Maverick" proved that cinema doesn't have to be aimed at a single audience, it doesn't belong to a single "tribe". Teens, adults and seniors can enjoy the same experience, without needing a manual. It's been a while since I've seen so many people of different ages at the theater watching the same movie, I believe since the 90s maybe. Top Gun Maverick: the movie that saved the experience of going to the movie theater.

This movie brought people back into the theaters after our hibernation with COVID. Seeing the movie was exciting but also having interaction with a crowd of people eating my popcorn, Goobers and large soda.
