      Please try one of the biggest tortas in Mexico City in a place which is called “El cuadrilátero”. They are near downtown, near the subway station Salto del Agua. They’re super good!

    Greg & Hillary, I am so glad to know you decided to remain in Mexico and continue your wonderfully produced videos. I have become a patron member and will gladly help out in your quest to continue your work. It is an honor to follow a couple of Gringos who find so much positive in our country and are able to showcase so much of what the world would not otherwise know from Mexico. Saludos de South Carolina.

    My mouth is watering; “esquites or ezquites” is one of Chilango's favorite snack, if the corn is in a cup then they are called esquites or ezquites otherwise is “elote”. Esquites or ezquites comes from the Nahuatl ízquitl, which means "toasted corn".

    Awesome guys and I’m glad your staying in Mexico, all those snacks you had are delicious!! Those chips I know them as Papitas and I must say Lays or the Mexican equivalent Sabritas has nothing on them! Freshly fried potato chips with limón and Valentina that’s a match made in Heaven!! You guys are having so much fun and I like it! Like others have said Mexican will always give a lending hand when you need help that’s just the way we are and your welcome any time I can help it’s my pleasure especially because you are showing a side of Mexico that seldom gets seen in the media

    Papas fritas, esquites and elotes. Next street food you should try is tacos de canasta. Basket tacos. Look for a guy on his bike with a basket and a bucket or big glass container full of salsa. It's quite difficult to find them in a restaurant. They are amazing!

    So cute. Ha Ha, Watching you WHILE I'm eating "dinner" of tortilla chips with beans and pimento cheese. Eating the leftovers. The chips will dip into anything, and they're good. I learned a new word - "Esquites." I had never heard that word - but you can get great "elotes" and tacos at the big Fuel City Gas Station on S. Riverfront Blvd. It sits just "under" the I-35 (Stemmons) bend at downtown, just west of the Omni Hotel. It's a huge place that sells (obviously) gas, and has separate bays for the big trucks, car washes, a big store and a taco stand that has an outside window. I went there for tacos for the first time several years ago on a Friday night. Oh wow, what a first time introduction I had. There just happened to be a live Mexican band in the parking lot and they were using the largest outdoor concert speakers on a huge truck. That whole side of Dallas was rocking, and the parking lot was full. In addition to the normal gas bays and front store parking, they have a large parking lot off to the side, as well as a covered eating area next to the taco stand. This place is hugely popular EVERY weekend. I had tacos and the elotes in a cup. Yummm. At the time I thought that was probably a regular thing about the band, but it was a special event or something. I've never seen a band since when I've gone back on Friday nights. Too bad, but it was so much fun. You must try it when you're back in Dallas. Google Fuel City and go there. If you get in touch with me, I'll meet you and/or take you there. I just ate at a little place the other day called "El Come Taco" on Fitzhugh, in East Dallas, east of Central Expy. I thought it was too expensive for what it is, but it was okay. There's a large "La Michocana" market across the street. There are several of those around Dallas. You can get all kinds of Mexican foods and fresh salsas too. Elotes are also sold in front of Fiesta grocery store, at least the one on Ross Ave. It's so much fun to eat all these foods. Great video.

  • @Eteras8
    @Eteras8 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    U can also put valentina on duritos, fritos or even on freshly made popcorn! Another very popular mexican "chip" with valentina is called DUROS chips or DUROS DE HARDINA. They are wagon wheel shapped, puffed wheat, that has the same crunch and consistancy of Corn Pops or dry rice cakes. U can fry them yourself and get them at the store or find them already made at stands.

    It is great that a lot of the adventures through the places that you showcase are centered around food. And a lot of that is street food. It makes me want it. But, while you two seem to have stomachs of steel, it is probably inevitable that at some point you’ll get a little sick. Generally this won’t sideline you too much. However, I would just recommend that you pick and choose street vendors when it comes to consuming pork (al pastor, carnitas etc). Ham and bacon are always safe, btw. Anyway, make sure that pork is fully cooked. Cysticercosis is a common infection transmitted in undercooked pork that while totally curable, it can occasionally go to the brain and can be problemaric. Maybe you already knew this, but just in case. just want to make sure you two keep healthy!

    So great you both tried the Mexican snacks. Now for breakfast, you should try at the breakfast restaurante La Fonda Margarita, it’s located at Tlacoquemecatl Street (in front of Tlacoquemecatl Park), Colonia Del Valle. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! But you should get EARLY. It opens from 5am to 11am. Only for diners. Better get there before 10am, because everything finishes very early (and there’s always a like of people waiting, it takes from 10 to 20 minutes before you get in), but you and Güera won’t regret at all. The café de olla is the best, and it’s all Mexican traditional cuisine (pork in green sauce, ribs, scrambled eggs). Only closed in Mondays. Repeat: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. And as a Mexican, is one of my favorites in the city. Keep on it with the Spanish, you both speak it incredibly!!! Saludos y más videos! ✌🏼

      Well the esquites are seazoned with a herb called epazote, that is the secret of that wonderful flavor... And mayo is a great addition, don't discard it 'till you try it!

    My mouth was watering!!!!! If you do a mexican candy eating video, try a pulpa. It's tamarind, so it's sweet/spicy/tart. I love those!

    That's the beauty of Mexico. Even if you're from the states you're still welcome in Mexico. That says a lot about Mexico.

    Hey guys, AWESOME VLOG, congrats! BTW, I was watching your Queretaro video the other night and was kind of intrigued when you said that Condesa wasn't really a good fit for you. As you may know, Condesa is coveted by many defeños due to its central location, its "euro" inspired architecture and its cosmopolitan vibe, where more "artsy", famous or foreigners prefer to live in DF, compared to other areas, since it's not 100% residential and there are lots of restaurants, parks, bars, clubs, etc. Is that what you didn't care much for? Did you see other neighboorhoods in DF that seemed to be more in tune with your vibe?
