    Thank you so much!! 40+ weeks pregnant with 4th baby and cried in pain just trying to get in position to do any of these. I finally was able to and wow, I can (almost) walk normally again.

    Thank you so much for these exercises. First of all, I just discovered that I have this SPD condition by reading another website and then I noticed yours for exercises. .I went bicycling 5 months ago and ever since, my pubic bone has been hurting. I joke with my husband about how bicycling caused my pubic bones to separate....and it's an actual condition! I feel too embarrassed to go to a physiotherapist. I have found the solution in your exercises. I have noticed when I walk that it seems that one leg is shorter than the other which I have wondered could be related to this problem. I just sat on a tennis ball and one side hurts...but the other side does only slightly. I have work to do and I can't wait to get to it. So thank you SO MUCH for your help. I like your friendly manner.

    Wow!! I just watched all of your videos and i'm so grateful that you took the effort and patience to show us sufferers with OP. So, first off, thank you so very much!! Secondly, I want to tell you a little about myself. I have always been athletic my whole life...mostly running. I've never had any major mechanical issues other than some ITB friction with longer distance running.....resolved. I have 4 kids but and never ran consistently during pregnancies until baby #4......I am 21 months post partum and i am still paying for it. It is so much better now and i pretty much to everything (swim, cycling, yoga, strength training) except run. When this first started I was about 3 months pregnant and I noticed my pubic bones starting to ache while i ran but didn't think too much of it and stubbornly kept on running because it didn't really hurt until after....then i would be in so much pain that i couldn't lift my R leg without excruciating pain.....took a break from running, had my 4th child.....3 months later tried running again. I thought the OP would be gone after about 3-4 mos of rest. However, it came back with a vengeance! Went to Ortho friend who confirmed OP on X-ray....sent me home with crutches....and recommending injection into the symphysis.....which i did not and do not want to do. I then took another 6-7 mos break from running to try and let pelvic bones heal. Just recently tried running again and I can feel that achiness in my symphysis area......soooooo frustrating! I have an incredible high pain tolerance but i'm more afraid of the pain than the pain itself. I've been seeing PT off and on for myofascial release which seems to be helping some. My big question to you is will this ever truly go away? will I be able to run and train for marathon's and triathlon's again?? I need help!!! thank you so much for your time!
    By the way, do you teach continuing education courses?

    I have just found your video's after 20 months post partum and literally having enough of suffering and needing to help myself as dr's can't decide what to do. I have been told my sacrum bones are pulling one way and my hip is slanted. Going to give this a try and hopefully will get some relief. spd has really ruined my life and I have been off work sick ever since it started struggling to get through every day. Thank you for these video's. I have high hopes it will help even if just to take some pain away. :)

      Hi Claire,
      Once you understand that bones are basically chunks of calcium that cannot "pull" anything, and thereby, bones only go where the soft-tissue pulls or holds them.....the only thing left to do is figure out how to free to tissue that is so tight that it's pulling your bones out of position. I'm optimistic my techniques will do that for you.
      You can do it!
      Here are all these SPD videos on one page,

      Hi Sarah,
      I'm very happy you found them. I know you pregnant ladies can suffer a lot once that baby gets to a certain size. I do hope the techniques help you. You may have to do them regularly as that baby keeps growing!
      And just FYI - my free website www.do-it-yourself-joint-pain-relief.com/ has videos for every joint in your body, if you ever need it.

    3 weeks post partum and every spot on my butt hurt when I tried with the ball. Too soon?Should I wait a few more weeks before starting this?

      No, you should be fine. Just focus on releasing the muscles as best you can without being too aggressive. Use common sense and stop if it seems to make things worse, but I think it will probably only help.
      Best,
      Gary C.

    Hi, thanks for this.
    I get severe pain on the spot and sciatic type pain when I put the ball on the side of hip as per the first exercise. Is it safe for me to continue doing it?
    Also I am suffering severe Benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome after being prescribed diazepam for 20 years for spasm. Do you think it is possible for muscles to release while the brain is unable to produce the appropriate neurotransmitters for muscle relaxation?
    I realise that is probably too complex for you to answer but I would appreciate your thoughts.

    Hi Mr. Crowley. Let me tell you a little bit of what happen to me if you don't mind. 2006 I had a baby (2nd) during the pregnancy I had lots of pain around my public area to the point my leg at times would give up on me as i walk. I keep teliing my doctor at the time but he would tell me it was because the baby was growing, I gave birth to the baby and two hours later the epidoral wore off i was in the worst pain i had ever felt in my entire life. So i call the nurse but she said it was because i had just given birth. So basically noone cared about what i was going through. 4 hours late the doctor who took care of me during pregnancy visit me told me i had a public SPD and it would go away in 6 weeks. I couldn't walk for about 5/6 months a physical therapist would come for therapy every other day and i had to have home attendant present to assist me at home. The 6 weeks the docotr said never came and till this day i still feel pain around my public area. Now am expecting another baby after waiting to have another one because of the fear that would happen again and having some pain and limping because it hurts on my right side of the hip. I don't want to have a natural birth, am scare. What are the chances doctor would want to give a c-section instead. Am really scare. I can't afford to have happen to me again i need to walk and be healthy for children. Thanks for you time.

      Hello Pazendios,
      I'm sorry to hear of your pain history. It must be very difficult. Because my techniques are based on relieving tight soft-tissue they are effective for some women with your condition, but you really do need to listen to the doctor or other health care professional that you see in person and can assess your situation. I do wish I had a better answer for you, but I think listening to your doctor at this point is most likely the safest path.
      I do wish you the very best,
      Gary Crowley

    Hi Gary! Thank you so much for these videos. I have been watching SPD videos all morning and didnt find anything particularly helpful until i landed on your page. I am 5.5 months pregnant and overextended myself during a workout over the weekend. I started feeling the SPD pain during/after a 2-mile run, and it's just gotten worse. I look forward to trying your muscle release methods. I have a question for you- knowing that I should be stabilizing the object and moving my muscle over it is NEW INFO to me and very good to know! However, if I am using a foam roller- obviously the object itself is rolling (moving) into the muscle. Is that still effective? Is there a reason the methodology is different between something like a softball vs. a foam roller? Thanks for your input!

    Are any of these excercises unsafe for pregnancy? I am 23 wks pregnant with my 3rd child, never had this before, but now I am experiencing intense pain down thru my pubic bone down into my inner thighs, I've been told to keep my leg closed, so are all these appropriate for pregnancy spd as well? Thanks!

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi rosezion,
      Releasing the tight tissue in your hips and other areas should not be a problem, but the work on do on "the front of your back" you will not be able to do until after you've given birth. That said, absolutely use common sense and if you don't feel comfortable to any of the techniques I show you then don't do them. If you are in doubt at all, then please do check with your doctor first.
      All the best,
      Gary Crowley

    Also 3x a day, hold 10 seconds , 3 x? Sorry about all the questions but I need help ~ Big Smile ~

      @garycrowley1  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, and for what technique in particular. In this video I have you releasing your hips with a tennis ball. So sit on tight/painful spot with the ball, move your leg to make it release (5-10 seconds on a spot is fine). You can do it many times a day if you'd like. If a spot is too stubborn, try another area for a while, and then return. Take your time. You'll do great.
      Best,
      Gary Crowley

    Gary...If the muscle is painful, is that the place one needs to put the ball? Is that considered the "tight' spot?

      Yes, you are correct ; )
