Great vlog Luke. I did see the gossamer 2 for £120 U.K. a couple of months ago in Liverpool. The only let down for me is the pegs but replace them and off you go!

The Gossamer II is about £150 in the U.K. and the Gossamer I is about £100 [Feb 2024]. You can usually get it cheaper though. For a tent that protects from heavy rain and will never blow away in Gale force winds it’s perfect. Never had bugs get in but I am jinxed when it comes to zips on anything 😂

I got this tent after your first 2 reviews and I utterly love it! I love in Sweden and here it is around 2000 sek, I got it for 1800 sek which is roughly 180$. It is seen as a budget tent here as well. Jack Wolfskin overall is not a too expensive brand in Sweden but it is not a cheap one either, quite mediocre in cost for good outdoor gear
I've got the Gossamer 1 which has a nice small pack size, room inside for me and my bag and gear and it is very low profile so can handle some bad weather. Great little tent.
I'd stick magnets to that flap that covers the zippers so that even when the 2 zippers are not met properly, the flap will prevent anything from entering the tent. A short piece of velcro would also do the trick.
Hey man, just discovered your channel. So refreshing to have a proper no bs review presented in such an authentic way. Many thanks. I saw the one man version of this tent and decided to do some research. After watching your videos it's made my mind up. Also, please accept my condolences for your loss. Best of luck from Ireland!
Thanks for your great videos. Really enjoy them. I actually think most of those "it's a really expensive brand" comments are actually because people are used to getting 50-60€ tents at a Discounter and not use those tents a lot so tents who are actually meant for longer outdoor use seem suddenly expensive. The Gossamer II for example can currently be purchased in Germany for 189€ including shipping. In June it was actually cheaper with as low as 169€. I don't think that's actually expensive for a tent of this quality.
Quick look at a site here in Denmark and it goes for 1322kr witch is around 209$ But yea it's sold out. Greetings from Denmark. Love your channel Luke.
TheOutdoorGearReview: Tyvm 4 the thorough review! I had a thought about that white mesh issue; before you even said anything about it, upon seeing the white mesh, it was really obvious that for stargazers, this is a big downside. When it comes to mesh, white fabric just picks any light (including starlight) and interferes with the view of the stars. This unfortunate manufacturing choice would be an excellent reason not to even consider buying this model for many people. Dark mesh doesn’t present the same problem at all. It seems to me that it would cost absolutely nothing for the manufacturer to remedy this problem going forward, since it would just mean ordering a different colour mesh, with no actual design changes. Do you have episodes where u make modifications and test them to see if your mods remedy the problems with otherwise excellent gear, like possibly cutting away that little fabric triangle that obscures your view of the closed zipper, or inserting a tiny, custom-shaped stop at that corner (or on one of the zippers) which might fill any gap where the zippers meet to make sure it keeps bugs out? Really liking your work so far! :)
Jack Wolfskin's German site is charging 189.95 euros (~$225), but its out of stock there too. Germany charges a 19% V.A.T., so it might be possible to find it new for less, especially in the off season. I've used their stuff for years with no issues. I'm wanting to get into camping, so this review is just what I wanted to know about their tents. Thank you!!
Hi Luke, hope you are well! For reference: In the UK, I have just paid $200 for the Gossamer 1 tent 😮. Getting the Gossamer 2 for $90, you got a great deal 👍🏻
Pricing is the same in Europe. Currently 189 euro. I've had a JackWolfskin Dome tent - super thick materials. Because it's polyester and not nylon it's quite bulky and heavy when packed.
190euro in Belgium(europe) its an expensive brand but not that expensive as fjallraven. I had the gossamer 1 and it was a little bit to small for me so i went for the 2 and i have it in the color volcano black... For packing i can say that i can pack it small. I take 2x osprey drysacks of 6l and i can pack the tent in it. Poles and pins are just in the backpack. I changed the pins for sea to summit pins, much better. But i really love this tent.
