Love how chill he is, making fun of himself and BM. Always fun when you have people who are secure enough with themselves to do stuff like that.

He's saying that, in the making of Age of Nero he borrowed his friend's cabin in Trysil mountain(A skiiing resort), and took walks in the forests around, and wrote song there, and got inspiration from nature mostly. And he talks about when he's getting older, he's toning down the binge drinking when he's out turing, because fans seeing them will expect the best, even if he is getting older. And he's talking about Satyricon taking alot of time, and he's not getting alot of time with his friends.

probably germanic languages are similar one from each other like latin languages (italian, spanish, portuguese) are too. They have common origins, so they can rather undertstand one from each other, certainly considering the own differences of grammar and pronunciation. North Germanic languages.
Also, one time a norwegian friend (Oslo) told me that Norwegians can understand Danish quite easily, cause they are more similar than other germanic languages.

    • @hwirbilona
      @hwirbilona 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

We norwegians have the same "text language" as danish people, because Danmark had the power over Norway for a long time. We have also borrowed the flow in our language from sweden. So norwegians speak simliar to sweds but uses alot of the words from danish language.

They are joking with him, asking him if he has ever written a love song. "It is not my kind of music", he say. Talking also about touring preperations. Do not drink to much before a consert to respect the fans and doing a perfect consert possible. He likes wine, and talk about a special brand he like. He does not have time for friends as much as he like. In the end of the interview he talk about the church burnings in Norway in the early days, and that it is more focus on the music now.

+Paulo Toledo Not word for word correct, I've tried to clean up some sentences as much as I could.
00:43 - Please welcome Satyricons Sigurd Wongraven!
      00:55 - Welcome
01:03 - Welcome to the show, the pictures we saw in the introductions are pretty dark stuff
01:10 - It doesn't remind you much of snowboard no.
01:14 - You guys have just made the album"The Age of Nero", where do you get your inspiration for writing these songs?
01:22 - For this album, I borrowed a cabin from a friend of mine at the Trysil Mountain and commuted back and forth for about a year, I had mobile recording equipment with me when walking in the woods and when snowboarding, and just stayed out in nature. And I just worked the rest of the time with myself and my thoughts to create the best I can.
01:53 - I heard that it was alot of Snowboarding?
01:55 - I have had a few instances where I've taken the snowboard with me to a hilltop with snow up to my hips and just sat down and watched the nature to try and find a path down. Sometimes I've found paths that are maybe too interesting, that ended a few times with me hav to cross rivers and knock on doors in Trysil municipality, I think, to find the way back.
02:30 - Sigurd, could you have written a love song? Is that a possiblity?
02:34 - No, no I don't think so. Il'l have to say it's just not for me, I am not qualified.
02:43 - Benedicte, what is your relasionship to black metal?
02:48 - When I didn't win Melody Grand Prix International the journalists asked us "What are you gonna do now?". "I think I will just mix opera, heavy metal and rock." When I had long hair I was pretty good at headbanging and thought that was pretty fun, and I've destroyed guitars on stage.
03:09 - So you have a relasionship with that type of music?(he's referring to black metal)
03:11 - I think it's really cool to watch! I grew up on Tveitan and thought those guys are probably the nicest in the world! They put in such an effort to look frightening and that really has to mean that they want to put out "I am really scary" vibes because in reality they are probably the nicest kindest guys. At least that's what I believe.
03:30 - Thomas: You have an answer for this Sigurd? Benedicte: Now I'm really excited Harald: Are you a soft guy Sigurd?
3:35 - I'm just thinking, I have watched her play live at Holmenkollenbakken during the Which Witch setup and I think that dramatic setup you had there was quite similar to what we do. I really liked what you did and I think she is one of the more ambitious artists in Norway and she just gets better with the years!
      04:07 - Thanks so much!
04:16 - Satyricon are are about to set out on a huge tour that is set to last half a year, and I'm thinking this has to be quite a hard life. What are the rules for touring with Satyricon?
04:28 - It really isn't ok to just have dirty underwear hanging around the tour bus
04:36 - Has this been a problem before?
04:39 - Yes it has actually! And by respect for the job and to stay focused we felt it was a good idea to cut out Alcohol on tour. Often one thing leads to another and by respect for our job, and our fans, and that those who are watching the 58th show expect to get the same show as those that watch the 1st. It's fun but it is a job that you have to take seriously.
05:22 - I have read in Dagens Næringsliv(a newspaper) that you know your port wine, and that you can give port wine tips. So I was wondering if you could give me some port wine tips?
05:35 - I'm just wondering how extreme you are, are you the guy that brings port wine to the beach during summer or what level are you at?
05:45 - Harald: No.. I'm not quite there because I'm not at the beach that much. Sigurd: But if you were at the beach! Harald: No I'm not that extreme I just think it's good!
05:57 - Sigurd: Krohn Colheita 1961. Harald: Oh fuck, that's old. Krohn Colheita 1961
06:09 - There. I never thought I'd get that tip from you Sigurd, I thought that was pretty fun. I'll buy this and taste it and send you a message when you are on tour.
06:19 - Satyricon is an extremely important part of your life. How do you combine it with your family life etc?
06:25 - It's a lot of renunciations. In extreme peroids, recently, I've had friends tell me "Damn if I want to meet you I'll have to come to one of your shows". And when you make an album, writing, recording, practicing, touring quickly adds up to 2 or 3 years. And then you are extremely busy all the time. And then there is a grace period between projects and the next album where you life a pretty normal life. Then you can get to know your friends again.
07:07 - Black metal has been surrounded by myths and prejudices. Church burnings, killings, antichrist thinking etc. What is your stance on this?
07:17 - Well, there is a middle ground here I think. Those things were sensation hysteria and quite a few things actually happened. I think a few media outlets has to take blame on how it was presented and maybe even triggered more events that could have been prevented. But I think it's important that black metal, like punk, has sharp edges and that it doesn't have to be for everyone. I've always, Satyricon has always been an exponent that this is just about music. We would not have been where we are today after 16 years if that wasn't our focus.

Wery, because of the Danish-Norwegian union where Norwegians had to learn and speak danish in schools. Therfore the old norwegian (Old Norse) evolved to todays Norwegian which is wery similar to danish, which is similar to swedish. Therefore natives of these three countries can speak with eachother with minor problems.

Yes. Norwegians and swedes understand each other. This is because the languages are fundamentally very similar, with the only big difference being that some words are different.
For instance, the sentence "It was a moist, grey summer day in late June" would in swedish be:
"Det var en fuktig, grå sommardag i slutet av juni.", while in primary norwegian it would be:
"Det var en fuktig, grå sommerdag i slutten av juni."

Norwegians understand Swedish better than Swedish people's understanding of Norwegian.

  • @WolfieboyMachi
    @WolfieboyMachi 11 ปีที่แล้ว

... In addition to this, Norwegians have an added bonus in training when it comes to understanding similar languages.
This is because there are so many dialects within the norwegian language, some that could practicly be concidered entirely seperate languages all on their own, and often far more difficult to understand than swedish and danish.
For an example of this, hit up the wikipedia article for "Sognamål", a dialect that in many ways is more like Icelandic/Old norse than modern norwegian.

Andreia Agnes: You have bit been missing shit. He is just saying things that he has been told to say in the interview. Like some shit about snowboarding and having to cross amn open river and asking the locals for the way back. Just a load of ballony. According to that I guess they have told him to compliment the female who is an opera singer. I do believe he might be interested in opera, but I am not so sure he holds her that high. Apart from that. Port wine and the short haired one asks him about some recommendations. Not a very entertaining interview. However. Sigurd is today perhaps more known as a cultural personlity in Norway than a black metal musician. I mean. He has got his own wine.

well that is just beacuse most ppl don´t listen or learn how to read, Norweigian and Danish are very similar in both words and how you write them, biggest difference is the grammar. Seedish and norweigian, and Sweedish and Danish, ar far from each other compared to Norwegian and Danish.

  • @Spetulhu

Well, you do have to practice a bit if you want to manage in one of the related languages. To one of the swedish-speaking minority in Finland the Danish sound like they are eating hot potatoes while speaking. "Swedish" swedish often uses a different pitch when speaking but can usually be managed. Some older Norwegian dialects are pretty nasty, and let's not forget that some of the local dialects in Finland are pretty much incomprehensible to anyone (except some aforementioned Norwegians).
