I must say, this must be the hardest quest I've done since I was pretty unprepared for it. "Arval" wasn't exactly up to stuff, so I had to do some little grinding. XD
I also didn't expect this paralogue to pop up when I decided to not recruit Byleth, too.
Difficulty: Maddening/Classic

I think even with a good Arval this would be the hardest mission. Just got the S with Shez because there was no way Arval would do it on maddening. Way harder than gatekeeper's paralogue imo.
Awesome run of this tough mission. Though my favorite part isn't in the battle itself but right beforehand at 4:37 or so. Even without any commentary from you, I can just hear the moment you realized Arval was 110 levels below the mission, and you going *'Fuck this shit I'm out'* and heading out to grind.
This ones annoying. I keep failing the damage taken objective somehow and missing S rank. Seems like when the stupid dark knight allies take damage it counts against that objective. *sigh* I was hoping i could S rank this without a ton of Arval lvl grinding but guess not if i have to carry and babysit the useless dark knights as well.
Pretty sure Damage Taken is based on your controlling unit(s) and not your NPC allies. In other words, you probably might be taking more than 50% damage throughout the fight. Having only 1 playable unit in a fight like this can just as easily rack up the damage taken, if you're not careful.
You are correct. That mission just has a crazy low damage threshold. If the enemy breathes on you it will fail. Thank goodness i do not need to train up Arval.
How do you unlock this stage?
I've said this before in a different post here: I think this paralogue pops up if you chose to not recruit Byleth. As in killing Jeralt in the usual quest of any route. If there's any other pre-requisite, maybe finish all three routes? That's what I did before getting this and then not recruiting Byleth.
How do you unlock this paralogue?
I'm playing NG+ Azure Gleam, recruited Byleth on my Golden Wildfire playthrough and have Arval in my party. Have I just not played far enough?

@@Linkmstr Thank you for the info. Been trying to figure out if I had just missed it or wasn't far enough. Think I'm not far enough along to have unlocked it yet. Can't wait to unlock it though. Thank you again.
