Yes but why the need to teach them tricks for entertainment purposes. Let them live how they would like but not be used to perform tricks that are not natural to them.
@@krisushi1 They are zoo rescues. They already know the "tricks". The demo was only...and made clear in the dialog...that the leaping was a trick they enjoyed doing. No one is making them. The calming "tricks' they were taught is to make it easeful for them to receive proper veterinary care as they move back into their more wild life. Watch the video again, and pay close attention to what the keeper is saying!
@@WhiteTiger333 Just because they were taught the tricks, does not mean that they need to continue. If they love jumping about, they do not need a human to tell them that it's okay to be themselves. Of course I know that they need to be calm whilst medical checks are carried out and most animals can understand when a human is assisting them and not hurting. It's great they they are co-operating during these checks but no other signals from humans need to be given. I will not watch the video again just due to you not understanding the point of another!
@@krisushi1 That is a problem, when human beings start deciding what a very intelligent animal would want from a modern human view. The whales are essentially beloved pets, treated very well, fed and cared for, safe from predators (like human whalers who would spear them and run them until they bleed to death) killer Whales, Sharks, Starvation which is happening with some whales on the West Coast. As I remember the poor Whale they decided to “free” never was accepted by a pod of his kind, was kept in what must have been to him lonely and unfamiliar territory. @@reginaromsey No! That's the worst thing that could be done is to free them. They are loved and cared for where they are. Well done Alina, Brittnee and crew. The puffins were lovely and I had my mouth hanging open in wonder during the Beluga scenes, magnificent animals and so obviously intelligent.
I saw them there in 2019, not too long after they arrived. They were in their temporary tank, and although they seemed happy and playful then, they seem happier now. So nice to see them in a much larger area!
This was a wonderful vid, thank you so much for sharing! I’ve been following Little White and Little Grey’s journey for years and to see them being so well cared for and obviously loved by their guardians is beautiful. One day, hopefully, I’ll get to see how happy they are for myself 💟🐳
@@krisushi1 This is not the case. The majority of their time is spent in a large bay in the Westerman Islands, where they have no interaction with humans. They are safe, have natural food sources and are as wild as possible. They had spent their entire lives in tiny indoor pools relying on humans for everything, so they were unable to just be released into the wild. If that’s been done, it would have been like signing their death sentence. At least now they are safe, cared for and as wild as they can be. Please do look into their habitat now. There are no people. It’s a secluded bay in an area that beluga would naturally be in. It’s the very best place they could possibly be.
@@krisushi1 Don’t reply on everyone else’s comments when you clearly don’t have all the facts. Yes, it would be wonderful for them to have never been captured in the first place. But we don’t have a time machine. This is the very best possible scenario for them. It took years to plan and a further two years to plan and execute the journey from China to Iceland. I commend your care for whales, but these two had no option to be released.
@@hanamoreton6543 Why are you putting so many words in my mouth that I never stated at all? After viewing the medical demonstration, the caretakers signalled them to perform tricks. This is the ONLY issue I have about this situation. As a Member of WWF, I do not need to be lectured on what is best for animals and I do know that this is not their primary residence. I never objected to the medical demonstration which I found quite interesting but the moment they were signalled to perform tricks made me see red as this is what they were supposedly rescued from. I do hope that you understand now what I was referring to, as it was clearly stated in the first place what my objection was.
@@hanamoreton6543 I won't reply again as I've covered this in my reply to you already. Yes, whaling is a big issue for my Country of Australia with the Japanese continually entering our waters to slaughter these majestic creatures but you've misunderstood my one objection. The tricks.
Being a "beluga fan" as you state, you must be upset seeing them forced to perform tricks as if in a circus, which they clearly weren't meant to participate in.
I watched their journey on TV with John Bishop and it was fascinating seeing everything they went through to get to Iceland. Glad they are settling in well.
That Beluga was probably a russian spy. Hopefully not called Ziggy either. :D Joking aside a great video. Good to see Iceland is stopping whale hunting and can turn them into money via tourism rather than a meal Those jumpers need to be in the shop, they are a great design on those ladies, would suit my daughter. Cheers.
Those jumpers, or those like them can be purchased through the merchandise store from Reykjavik Grapevine. Although it is great to see whales being rescued from the dinner plate, why do they need to force them to perform unnatural tricks? If humans can't be fascinated by observing these beautiful creatures as they are naturally, what's the point of teaching anyone about them? They are not circus performers!
What beautiful Belugas. When talking 🩸 YOUR FINGERS should be clean too. And always clean area from cleanest to dirtier areas. Inside Circle ⭕️ OUT. I wish my patients were as compliant.
Love your Beluga whales and Puffins. But with a car, take a long day out to Vik. ( goo.gl/maps/fQygu2c3G861TFQw7 ) Check it out, if my memory serves me right, this where you can see a large colony of Puffins fishing and darting into their nesting holes, while the very aggressive Arctic Terns nest in the long grass nearby. Its the right time of the year when they are very active.
This is a great idea to care for the wildlife. I was disappointed when I saw that these beautiful whales have been taught to perform tricks for human entertainment. Why can't people see their beauty without a performance which is not natural to them. Let animals live as they should and not be used for human entertainment. Kris.🇦🇺
This is a sanctuary. I don't believe they're taught tricks for entertainment so much as for enrichment. These are incredibly intelligent, social animals, which must require a lot of variety in their activities to keep them psychologically healthy.
Great intro to the whales, but NEVER EVER USE THAT MUSIC AGAIN! It is the most over used, annoying music on the internet! Find other royalty free music!
