I passed out multiple times during my rowing career, it’s really a scary feeling waking up on the floor or in a completely different place than you started. Plus when you wake up you feel so groggy and sometimes you can’t taste or hear very well, it’s not a fun time

I had a similar experience working commercial plumbing. Working in direct sunlight in 104 degree humid ass south carolina weather was just fucking insane. I ended up puking and having to go home one day. My coworkers kept telling me I should be used to it. They had no heat equipment and always doged OSHA. It was the most ridiculous bullshit and I quit after 6 months of nearly being killed by his ridiculous kids smoking pot on the job running power tools and fucking around rather than working.

Well.. I am a volunteer firefighter at infineon raceway.
They have chilled body suits, as well as a helmet that is also chilled.
They are tired because they didn't get enough sleep... or tried to fight their liquor demon the night prior.

It's one of the unfortunate things that come with being a race car driver is that sometimes a cool box quits and 130 degrees in there and stuff like this happens. But if anything let's use that opportunity to make us admire these athletes more because of how much willpower it takes to run race dehydrated from flag to flag all for our entertainment and their will to win to quote Kyle Petty that's incredible.

The fact is that most of these clips happened either when the track is incredible hot or the cool box quit on them, which no matter how well made the car is will sometimes happen unfortunately. So while sometimes parts will failure or the team is being run by idiots (Petty) it doesn't change the fact that most of these teams want to get their millions back so the hire the absolute best mechanics, engineers, pit crew, crew chiefs and drivers they can to make that happen and to say so otherwise proves a lack of knowledge of the sport but at the very least not a lack of love for it and a concern for the drivers which I respect.

You are far from being the only one. I’ve driven race cars a few times in my life, and I have a major respect for professional race car drivers. They are elite athletes. People who say they aren’t athletes have no clue what they’re talking about. Plain and simple. Extreme heat, major g-forces, heavy pedals and steering wheel(mind you some drivers also lose power steering during races). Every time I hear someone say they aren’t athletes, I can’t help but backlash at them. It’s kind of a trigger point for me.

Yep. 90-95F heat, his rudimentary cool-air setup and cool suit both quit. They had another driver lined up but Rudd was leading and knew he had a potential race-winning car and didn't want to leave. Worst part was, they were shooting water from a hose down his suit on pit stops to try and keep him cool...the hose had been lying in the sun so the water was hot and just made things worse. He had actual burns on his back when he was done. 500 laps at Martinsville with no cooling in the brutal Virginia summer. AND HE WON. That's why Ricky Rudd was one of the toughest men ever to get in a stock car.

I was a Navy Corpsman, and, I treated many cases of heat exhaustion aboard Ship, and, Shore exercises, each time a person has that condition their tolerance to Heat seems to lessen, and, symptoms seem more pronounced, not all react that way, but, many do.

Nicole'sGaming I believe it was in 2004. Dale jr had raced in the American Le Mans series one weekend when NASCAR was off. He crashed in what looked like a minor crash but something in fuel line/connection was compromised. So the car caught on fire and he was sent to the hospital with 2nd degree burns on his legs & neck. The clip in this video was Dale jr’s first race back. Since he was still recovering the whole crew knew they would be doing a driver switch and practiced during the week. That’s why they were able to do it in under 40 seconds.

when i saw kyle busch lying on the ground after that 2017 charlotte race was when i started to gain a little respect for him at the time and i feel like this year ive respected kyle more due to his lack of winning because of how difficult its been for him and i found that as a way to realize he isn't a machine hes as tough as everyone else in those cars if that makes sense
