  • Welcome to episode 6 of Now That's Midschool featuring Paul Warren and his collection of midschool bikes and a couple of other bits and pieces.
    Paul is a relative new-comer to the midschool BMX collecting scene, but as you will see in this episode, he hasn't wasted much time when it comes to acquiring some midschool gems. Having spent most of his adult life in the Downhill MTB world (he also collects classic MTBs), he recently found himself being in a position to be able to realise a small dream of picking up Sean McKinney inspired S&M Sabbath frame and building a bike that captured his imagination way back when he saw it on the cover of a Ride BMX magazine, in the days when he did ride BMX. From that moment on, the midschool bug got him and got him good style!
    Since then, he's quickly picked up various bikes and parts that also captured his imagination, with a heavy bias towards Flatland bikes. He happily admits that if that right, full bike comes on his radar, he's keen to collect that way, instead of doing it part by part, which partly explains why his collection hascome along so quickly. As well as flatland bikes like his S&M Sabbath, he has a Morales Flatland based bike, a KHE Goldfinger (is it midschool or is it newschool?), a KHE Premium Lagger frame set, Hoffman Bikes Big Daddy frameset and has, since filming this episode, picked up another Premium Lagger and a Morales BTS (from Matt Sully's collection) to go with his DK General Lee and S.O.B, his S&M Dirtbike (formerly belonging to Nick Bevan) and a first for this channel, Zima!
    So yeah, he's not sitting around! His online presence is thin to say the least so apart from here, you're unlikely see this set of bikes anywhere else for the time being.
    Remember, if you like the show and you haven't already seen the other episodes, please do check them out. And if you like what you see, give the shows a like,please feel free to comment and share and hit the subscribe button to get more, as and when they come up.
    Special thanks to Paul for inviting me to view his collection and talk about these great bikes and the midschool era in general.

      @@nowthatsmidschoolit's pronounced zima as in zimma frame the old person walking device,
      Like "zim zima who got the keys to my bima"
      Not 'zeeema'

      @Truth-And-Freedom Haha!! I guess it depends on your level of education! Haha! Or where you come from? Zima would be Zee-ma like the Lima, pronounced Lee-ma and Zimma would be like the walking aid - Zimmer. I'd ask Steve but he didn't respond to my DM on Instagram about another Zima related question (he did open it). So I'm taking creative license on the matter! Haha! Thanks for watching and getting in touch, either way. 🙏

      I hear what your saying but Paul actually rode BMX back in the midschool era but moved on to MTB sooner. Quite a few BMXers tend to go that way when their back starts hurting! Hahaha!! 👍

    Honestly, I would’ve love to hear all his talk about Flatland with riders and videos. Obviously, I am a flatlander and can listen to someone talk about Flatland all day. Lol

      Oh man! Thanks for tuning in! Our knowledge of anything flatland was/is basic to say the least, so I didn't want talk out of turn and neither did Paul. I do like the aesthetics of many flatland frames/bikes and appreciate the riding of a handful of flatland riders, or their style should I say. The technicalities of their riding are lost on me I'm afraid to say. Sorry man. 😔

    Love seeing his love for primo tenderizer pedals. Still running them and they are soooo smooth.. like the aluminum tho for weight savings. Killer collection this brother has. I’m about 4 serious bikes deep now all 3 done 1 just waiting to be put together and another few just throw together run of the mill builds. I want to be on this level soon

    • @nowthatsmidschool
      @nowthatsmidschool  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Junior-fd8ux Yeah, such a classic staple of he midschool, the Tenderizers. From experience and witnessing though, the axles were very poor. Rarely bent and just snapped. Collecting wise, there's no pressure to get a large collection going. Quality over quantity is a good saying. Of course, if you have the resources, do both! Haha!! Thanks for reaching out!

      One of the beauty parts of the midschool was customisations to your rig. Full custom or complete, they were always getting modded and upgrades. 💪
