I reaching the big 50, started riding again in my early 40's. At first it was hard all these muscles not being used in that way for a good while. but once the soreness subsided, all the tricks started to come back. Bikes have changed a lot now. Longer , taller, and shorter rear triangle, makes vast differences in the way the bike handles. I rediscovered Riding is my Zen moment, it lets me spool down from the day and clear my mind.
I am 43 years old started again in Sunday darkwave and it is very response.Then I am going step by step, because I don’t know this bike, but it is so good.
I'm 53, bought my first bike in 81. it was a Kuwahara. I bought it myself mowing lawns in the neighborhood. it was the first of many Haros Masters and several Tricks Stars. Buying a bike again just to flatland.

Grew up riding Bmx bikes back in the 80s. Was out of it for 30 years!! Decided I wanted a bike for my 46th birthday in December of 2020. The wife bought me a Sunday Soundwave complete. Fell in love with the bike and with Bmx again. Fast forward to this past December and the wife asked me again what I wanted for my now 47th birthday . I said "what else!? Another Bmx bike". This time I went with We The People Battleship complete. Amazing bike for sure and now I've found my fountain of youth.
Im 32 and went through a traumatic motorcycle accident but i missed being able to enjoy riding so i picked up a gt slammer and its the best thing ive done in a long while and i landed my first 180 last night and cam say the feeling is incomparable

Just what I needed to see. I recently got back into it at 49 after being away for 25 years. The key I find is staying within your comfort zone and going slowly. I got my table tops back as well as other tricks I had back in the 90s and 80s when I started. Never too old to rip. NEVER.
100% agree. Plus always helpful to stay in shape! I'm a better rider now at almost 42 then I was in my mid 20's and in better shape than kids 1/2 my age 🤔
@@dieseldabz7104 YES! Staying in shape is also key. I work out couple times a week...if i dont my body falls apart. Ive had torn rotater cuffs, tennis elbow and bakers cyst on my knees in the past. When i dont stay active I HURT. When I do exercise on the regular no issues.
That's true friend. 20 years ago I was riding BMX when the GT Dyno was the best and two days ago I started riding on a sunday darkwave and in the second jump I put it on my hat. I am 43 years old now, and I am waiting to recover my wrist and ankle😂😂😂.Thank you for the video.
Haha I’m 38 and going to get back into bmx. I had a mongoose menace back in the day and rode every single day. I was into bmx from about 10-18. Man I’m so excited to get back into it

But this video and all these comments just made me realize, 1. I never should have quit. 2. It doesnt matter how old you are, what tricks youre doing, or how big or small your going. I just build and show off my old school Bmx bikes. I don’t ride them as much. I just enjoy adding and removing parts , pegs, bars , switching color tires , seats etc…I just love the old school era. I have just bought an old Intense Moto Expert XL ( not sure what year, but it has a steel frame) just for a bit of fun, I won't do anything competitive though as I have upper back problems. I am a 54 y.o. female. I used to race BMX 40 years ago. Didn't want to spend a lot on a bike this time.

Alot of local kids can barely bunny hop it and they get amazed (also annoyed) as I can still bunny hop it,do table tops,fufanu's etc. 😄 I always get asked how I can do these tricks on such a heavy bike,lol
The legs are key man. Watch some older riders, like 40 or 50 yo pros. Their legs always go stiff. I'm finding pumping round the bowl is helping muscle up, but thinking I need to adjust diet for maximum energy
At 40 for me it's the old injuries that hurt most. I have to wear ankle braces but still love to get out and have fun. I stick to basic things 180s 360s feeble and Smith grinds.
I just restarted again. Spend some time to get wrist strength back. I’m on a 6week vacation with a wrist injury now from bunny hopping higher than I should of
After some 15 years I decided to go back, I'm 40 now and injuries are a huge demotivator, you forgot to talk about protective gear, helmets, knee pads, chin pads, shoulder pads and even chest pads are almost a must when you're learning back all those skills. It doesn't matter if they make you look like a goof ball, you'll be the old guy in the park anyway. Safety first.
I'm just starting to learn box jumps, I need to know some good beginner tricks to start with. I tried to do a one hander, sometimes when I let go my bike starts to fall away from me, do you have to pinch the seat with a one hander?
Dude I could make a short novel listing ALL my broken bones and injuries. Worst being my 3 breaks in 2 disks in my neck and I STILL ride(well did until bike stolen)

Im 28 and just got a Gap XL a few months back, I was looking at bigger bike like 24s or 26s and had found and wanted a dynacraft krusher fat tire just get to an from work during the good days of Oklahoma (sadly I made a mistake of ordering from Amazon). During this period of waiting forever an day for my fat tire bike to show up Nostalgia hit an was looking at 20" bikes an then was told my fat tire bike had been damaged during shipping 😢 i bummed out so I started to do some looking around for a 20" bike not knowing what i was looking for just something to ride as I missed the rush an freedoms an Therapeutic of hoping on a bike an riding i ended up with going to the only bike shop here in town an walked out with the most sexiest green bike i have ever seen an hadn't really ridden it til Tuesday and it was fun to finally get out and ride (plan was to go to the skatepark but that didn't happen) but man am i sore lol this Kink Gap XL is my first ever bmx bike that wasn't a Walmart bike and have put in alot of time an money to get parts (got some parts from Albes coming tomorrow 😁) At 28 im a tad over weight vs what I actually weighed in HS an After (165-180) and out of shape now i feel older than my actual age i guess its from the abuse that happened from doing things that was doing but i wanted to get a bike an start riding again to get back into shape an go to work with(can't ride 7mils to work on a 21 hell no lol)as I work at an AFB an am allowed to use the gym there but i want to get there before my shift so now im looking to get a custom 26" Laird Frame an buy the needed parts an build it up I'll say this it's been a fun time learning how to maintenance my current setup an putting on aftermarket parts on it
I am this person. Been back on after a twelve year break got almost a year now. The only main issue I’m having is I get way too ahead of myself. Trying to do things that used to be simple. Never had stitches nothing as a kid. Already had stitches twice and a messed up leg since I’ve been back on. What are some good recommendations on shingaurds for smaller Cory Berglar type people lol
All depends on the tires and weight as well as what you ride. I let pressure out on street and I pump up on park. Good medium for me is like 70 unless I’m going fast. For fast days it’s like 85-90 psi🤘🏽

Neoprene tactical gear, compression pants on top, and then the jeans.
