    Mike Bordin is the drummer and has been their only drummer. When Faith No More split up for a long while, he was the drummer for Ozzy, he drummed for Jerry Cantrell, and he temporarily filled in for Korn.

    Ain’t many gonna be mad about the Alice In Chains comparison. Faith No More’s singer, Mike Patton, is the number one singer in popular recorded music in terms of range. He is also considered the most versatile. He has 10 other bands and a record company called Ipecac. It is definitely worth your time to delve into some of his other projects. Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantomas, Lovage just to name a few. Mr. Bungle just released a new album, but I’d advise checking out stuff from their first three albums before diving into that one.

      Hilarious comment, considering this song is about an misfortunate soul who gets aroused by masturbating while being hung from a noose. The adrenaline coupled with orgasm.
      A sado-masochistic, perverse, sick fethish that leads to his death atlast.
      One mistake...
      And
      You hear the organ and churchbells kick in.
      I am not even kidding, Faith No More had some Dark Humor, way ahead of music from their time, when "Heavy" music then and still is gwnerally was some loser who's head is shaved shouting into the microphone, inaudible gibberish with zero melody, zero hooks, zeeo rythm, and just a strummed pickup.
      Even the band Cromags weren't so boneheaded as majority of " Heavy " bands out there.
      Faith No More was the illest, realest, whatevee you'd call it.
      They were and are fantastic HahahaHAha!

      Yeah but nah. Mike Patton didn't sing like this on the Real Thing in 1989, AIC became famous in 1990, Angel Dust came out in 1992. Patton definitely took his vocal style I'd say for this song.

      It took me over 20 years to really get into Angel Dust. It didn’t happen til just recently when I got on a big Faith No More/Mike Patton kick while reading their official biography. I got it for Christmas back in 2001, but the only song from it that really did it for me for years was “Jizzlobber.” I was always a bigger fan of Album of the Year and King For a Day… Fool For a Lifetime. But now I finally realize what an amazing piece of work Angel Dust is (although I’m still not that into “RV”). Now the FNM album that really doesn’t do it for me is Sol Invictus… but who knows? Maybe in 20 years, I’ll grow to appreciate that one as well.

    Mike Bordin on drums on every album and even going way back to Faith. No Man in the early 80s. He was there from the start and influenced by Killing Joke and traditional African drumming (I think) as well as Black Sabbath. His rhythms are really the unifying part of an often chaotic band and he doesn't get enough recognition so I'm glad you've noticed him and singled him out!

    Hey, man, you`re a great listener! :) Alice in Chains - yep, that`s the same musical era, the grunge period, where there were many cross-boarding among the singers since their present and past time, so you`re right - you have `ears` , i must admit! :) Mike Patton do sound like Layne Staley in here! Now, to tell you the truth, you`ve picked one of their most heaviest songs ever!:) I guess you didn`t know that:) Similar one you`ll find on their next album, and it`s called "Cackoo for caca"...You can check that also. But, you were curios about the drummer, right? His name is Mike `Puffy` Bordin, he`s got the longest afro-hair I`ve ever seen, and he`s a specialist for a funky grooves, he makes wonders with his bass-pedal and that`s why this band sounds so good for you to dig it ! :) The very band, by itself, is very versatile, ...extremely versatile!:)) This song is death-metal influenced...Other may be non-metal, pure soul-funk, since the bass-player is funky influenced dude...:) There are Brazilian-bossa-nova one...:) Electronic-pop one.!:D The `country`-one. The one close to the world music, movie scores, etc. And, off course, a fabulous cover of the 70`s soul-kings The Commodores - Easy, that simply must be heard! You`ll melt yourself in that chair.:)) But, to suggest you the right examples of their groove, illustrating a funky drums and bass, lushfull singing and rapping, this is what you need to hear from them by now.. wow, the one of your visitors here already posted it, i`ll just copy-paste her (Angela Dall) post. The songs are: 1. A Small Victory and 2. Everything's Ruined...and I`ll add: 3. Kindergarten , but also their `digital`-one, 4. Stripsearch. Just keep it up, pump it up! Seein` ya!:)

    One thing i like about Patton is he often ends a phrase on a really "off" note... even sometimes an impossible not on the piano. Like he has de-tuned his voice artfully for that one note. You can hear it at the end of each sentence in the first verse of this song. You can also hear it again during the bridge... he ends those sentences on a really strange note.
    I love Angel Dust... but sometimes the guitar tone is a bit too "metallic" if that makes sense? King For A Day has a more "matte" finish lol. i don't know how else to describe it.

    i don't know why this song is called Jizzlobber, but i have a theory- The song could definitely be interpreted from the perspective of someone in prison, guilt ridden and tortured, maybe a bit psychotic. The album released in 1992. The movie "The Silence of the Lambs" came out in 1991 and was based on a book published in 1988. There is a psychotic inmate in that movie who masturbates in his cell and hurls his ejaculate at the face of the protagonist.
    Maybe someone already came up with this theory, i did not google search it very thoroughly. But it's a cool enough reference to title a song after, i think.

    I know I'm a little late on this one, but having grown up in church, this song sums up catholic guilt pretty well. By the way, it's about self-gratification. In the 90's everyone hid their porn-stash under the mattress

  • @JC-rr1wu
    @JC-rr1wu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My take on the lyrics of this song, it is told in the perspective of a serial killer behind bars. He knows what evil he has done, and is accepting that he will spend the rest of his life surrounded by concrete and steel, and his only remaining pleasure would be the prornographic magazines he hides under his mattress. The "jizzlobber" probably refers to the scene in "silence of the lambs" when an inmate throws semen on Clarice when she walk by to Lecter's cell.

    I always assumed this song was about a sexual assault. Most likely from the view of the victim but it could be from the perpetrator as well.
    “I keep my dirty minutes under my dirty mattress and they are making me itch.” Bars in the womb could be a reference to how victims can’t have that connection with someone that used to be intimate after a rape. Sex has lost its meaning in that regard. He also said his skin is soot, meaning he feels dirty, no matter how much he scrubs he can’t make himself feel clean again. Lastly he says I am what I’ve done, I’m sorry. A lot of times victims blame themselves and feel guilt despite being the ones who were wronged.
    Just my take on it, I could be wrong. It is Mike Patton after all.

    The 1st album they did with him was a concept album about a pedophile in his neighborhood who kidnapped and raped a little girl and held her over time and eventually killed her. I believe this song is just a song to tie both albums together. It's about guilt and feeling dirty and the fear of imprisonment but being ready to accept your punishment for what you have done.

    Puffy the drummer is the sickest. Hands down. No question. No Cap, no nothing...by far by a longshot. Nobody hits harder.
    Hes a lefty who plays a righty kit...

    There’s a Lionel Ritchie song called ‘easy’ which faith no more covered. It’s better than the original, which is rare for a cover. You should check it out. It’s not metal

      “It’s better than the original”? That’s definitely a subjective opinion that I highly doubt is shared by those who actually grew up with the original version.

    • @thejam69
      @thejam69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fakename70 maybe but you are being highly subjective by saying that people who grew up with the original song would think that version is better, lol!...... much 💔 from 🇦🇺

      Their cover was decent, but in no way was it better than the original. The skipped an entire verse, for one thing.

    • @thejam69
      @thejam69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@inphanta well the music is the same more or less and the vocals are better. If FNM added the other verse it would have been even betterer, lol. I do appreciate where you are coming from though. ❤️🇦🇺

    Clearly you've not studied enough about FNM: Mike Bordin is their only drummer, and it's a beast, see his project with Ozzy and Cantrell.

    LOL at starting with this one... Their biggest hit was "Epic". I suggest reacting to that one, its a great mix of hip hop and rock.

      Don’t . Faith no more . Mike -are bigger than the one song you know. As a fan musical ignorance is easy to find. Angel dust was their opus with Jim on guitar. But this band is beyond epic

    Not to be offensive circa 2021, but you can see through a lot of these 'react' videos that everyone loves the rhythmic aspect of this album regardless of being made by whites etc.
    Everyone knows dirty beats, and they don't have to come from some bullshit rapper with questionable musical skill.

    The song is about someone who has committed a heinous crime (rape?) and is going to or has been in jail or another institution. He admits his guilt: I AM WHAT I DID. He feels sorry but it doesn't matter.
