@@OctoberSoda I don't listen to that much but I got angry replies from smashing pumpkins fans when I said they aren't grunge but now smashing pumpkins fans are telling me they aren't grunge? What the fuck are they
down on the upside in c tier is crazy wow. zero chance alone makes it at least b tier and dont even get me started on blow up the outside world and burden in my hand
Good list. My favorites from these bands would probably be Superunknown and Badmotorfinger from Soundgarden, In Utero by Nirvana, Vs and Vitalogy from PJ and Dirt, Jar of Flies and Tripod from AIC. Love all of these albums so I had to choose more than one from a couple of these bands lol.
Pearl Jam has some great albums after No Code. Binaural is fantastic. (I also love the new AIC but I know most don’t). Superunknown has been my favorite album for 30 years.
People are gonna hate me for this but I dont care IT IS MY OPINION. 1. Soundgarden 2. AIC (sometimes 1 depends on the mood) 3. Pearl Jam 4. STP. I just never could get behind Nirvana maybe because Nevermind is too overplayed but saying that Bleach is like top 5 for me.
Fair I would put AIC first. Sound garden just wasn’t for me but damn stp is stellar are underrated and derated for what reason I don’t know. Love bleach but yeah nirvana got overplayed. I love most their stuff not killed on the radio.
As someone who graduated high school in '96 I'd have to say I agree with most of this list. Three main issues: 1 & 2 Superunknown is definitely S tier and Down on the Upside is just behind it. 3 In Utero is a trash album with a few good songs on it, at best a C, probably closer to D. And yes, Burden in my Hand is better than Blow up the Outside World.
For me, Dirt is better than all these other albums put together, and that includes Jar of Flies and Facelift... To be fair im only really familiar with Alice in Chains and Nirvana full discography(untill 96): Pearl Jam i only know Ten and a dozen of other songs, and i only know (and like) a bit more of Soundgarden
in San Diego.. "Grunge" is really defined by geography and culture more so than the music itself. Most of the big 3 weren't really "grunge" musically speaking. If you want real grunge then listen to the Melvins . AIC and early Soundgarden were probably closest to "grunge"
Yield is by far Pearl Jams' best album. They started to find their sound on Vitalogy and contined through No Code. They peaked with Yield.Should have stopped at Ten?Ridiculous, you stopped before their greatest album.I cant stand Ten.
@@MooMooMoulton ? not really. the three albums above it are start to finish masterpiece, defined their respective genres. Once you listen to more music and understand the importance of rythm and how music theory works youll understand why something like in utero is 1#
shoulda got STP on the list too
I consider it a big 6 with stop and smashing pumpkins added to the usual 4

Superunknown at A is crazy
It's an easy king tier, top 3 grunge albums imo
IMO the greatest album ever made

Absolutelly... Thats exactly my ranking too
My own rank
Soundgarden

AIC
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Yall shoulda done the super groups too like temple of the dog and mad season
Good list. I would’ve put superunknown higher tho
Starts the video saying big four with Nirvana and bang as he says it there is a picture of Silverchair 😂

PJ was my first love. I played 10 until it almost literally wore out. Don’t listen to them much now but live on layne era AIC.
Listen to In Utero

Not considering Black Give Way To Blue a classic is a crime
They said the cutoff was 1996 because if they didn't it would all be pearl jam
@@captainflappyarms8277 Black Gives Way To Blue is more important than the rules.
Come on its a great album but it's definitely not a classic
Jar of flies in A? Hell no
Superunknown "A maybe B"
Lost me there. Completely.
Apart from Bleach, I would say that Nirvana were punk rock and new wave, not 'grunge'.

Imagine not including the first breakthrough grunge band on that list. Soundgarden are practically the founders of the scene, alongside Greenriver.
