This is the best Video I seen in TH-cam. What a wonderful family. I wish I could do this. I am too old for sailing across the oceans. You are teaching your kids about the world. God Bless you and your family.
I love, love, love your show! Hello there from England! I absolutely adore sailing and the sea. I sailed on the "Eye of the Wind " in - ( wow!) - 1996, when Tiger owned her. The regular crew were all Aussies and amazing folk. It was totally awesome to crew on a tall ship! I could have taken off and lived like that for years. Instead I had to go back to my family but I cried every night for a week when I returned home. It made me understand how a sailor felt about his ship, she's like a living thing, sails full of wind, flying over the water. Amazing. So I really appreciate what you do; making the videos, answering our questions, and sharing your adventures, good and bad, with us, and it's a real honour to be able see you, - (in your element!) -and your lovely family, and to see your children growing up strong, happy and capable. You and Renee, Keith, are such good role models for them too. So thank you.
Enjoyed the video. Bracing myself after Kieth's intro, this was not nearly as bad as expected. Looking forward to how you handle this situation. Renae, keep up the excellent video work!!!
No judgement here. We all dealt with a wide range of emotion when we were hit with this news. It's a lot to handle and no time to understand. Stay well, stay safe and enjoy time with your family. All the best and well wishes to everyone out there that you and yours come out of this ok. Cheers.
Just a big shout out to Kate. Well done helping dad with the boat, but try not to look like you're having too much fun because Anna is watching and might be a little jealous. The way I see it is you're the last baby girl dad has got at home and I don't think he's ever worked out how to say no to any of you especially his girls.
It blows my mind that anyone would have anything negative to say. You all seem to me like a nearly perfect family. Of course that may just be what we see on the video, we have no way of knowing that. But you have 2 awesome parents who dedicate their lives to teaching and enriching their children, and a bunch of kids/young adults who are clearly responsible, respectful and everything else we all want our kids to be. I say keep on keeping on. You guys rock.
Just a small tip on sea sickness. When I came onboard the USS EDWARD MCDONNELL in 1973 an old salt took me under his wing. He hands me a box of saltine crackers and tells me once we are underway to eat as many as I could. I never got the pukes. Sodium bicarbonate in a crscker. It worked. You guys make my day especially now in these strange times. Be cool...be safe.
Thx for the advice. Question... would it work to just mix a couple of spoons of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in a glass of water and drink? Have you tried that?
Thanks for the reply. If I lay under a tree for too long I won't be able to get back up. But.... I have a nice hammock stretched between two old oak trees. Finished mowing....now it's a cold brew and watching the birds and squirrels. Nothing better. Have a great day!
Hey guys I live in New Zealand I enjoyed so much seeing you guys in a pack and save and doing kiwi stuff. I didn’t think your reaction to the covid lock down was bad. I had to shut down my business and my rd trip plans I was looking for loop holes and trying still do business when it was first said we where going into lock down. When I realised how serious it all is then I got it and stayed home. I’m so jelly of you guys on that gorgeous boat sailing the New Zealand waters while stuck at home. Stay safe xxx I love you guys
Hello! Checking in from a small mountain town in Colorado (Guffey)! My wife and kids are hooked on your videos (3 boys ages 9, 7 and 5). In the few days of watching your family, since finding your channel, we've been inspired to keep pushing towards our dream. It's not sailing the world (although that would be amazing). We feel called to our own adventure and seeing that you have taken the leap you did is exactly what I need right now. Thank you for your inspiration! It's crazy that through this pandemic and since starting to watch your videos, I have been concerned for your family. Maybe I am a bit jealous because you have the ability to self isolate like few can. But that has its own challenges I am sure. I wait for notifications to make sure you are all doing well. Be safe out there. Thank you for your videos. Thank you for content that we can watch as a family. Thank you for following your dreams. We'll see you next time!
I pushed the like before I even got thru the intro just because you're you. Team Zatara not always perfect but always perfectly entertaining and sometimes informative.
It was a great reminder in the beginning. IMHO you and your family’s feelings are exactly representative of most people when it comes to our current life situation. Things change every day and emotions change with them. Stay safe 😊
Dear sailing Zatara family, I just would like to say how happy I am always to watch your vlogs. You have a wonderful family. I believe that we all come from different cultures, countries and have different traditions but that doesn't mean we should not accept each others differences. I think you are all doing a great job. Keith man love your positive vibes and comedic side alot. keep in doing what you do and don't bother with the haters. As one of my muslim scholar once said you only have haters and envious people when you are successful. much love. Ahmad
I'm an Aussie who has been following your trip with interest and I'm amazed that some people have sent you abusive mail. From what I saw your reactions to the news of the impending lockdowns in NZ and Ozz were the same as all of us. I thought you handled the situation very well. You didn't criticise any of the Government directives and you quickly came up with a solution that met the new rules and didn't place any burden on the NZ community or services. As we say in Ozz, "Good on ya".
Great comments up front Keith, you have no haters because you have tooooo many more of us that appreciate you allowing us to roll (sail) with your excellent family adventure, prayers for you bro, continue to be safe out there, one love. Jack cool shirt🤙
I actually appreciated your words at the beginning of this video. I love watching your show because I homeschooled 6 kids and would have loved to live a travel life while raising them. As a moderate, I am frequently disturbed by the political and somewhat insensitive things you say,, though as an American I do defend your right to say them. But your statement at the front of this video helped remind me that we are watching this after more time has passed and more information about the virus has become available. We are RVers and were on the road when the virus was starting to spread and I confess we rolled our eyes about it at first too. I think it is important that we consider the timing of things. I think if I'd been in your situation I would have stayed in NZ to be on the safe side. Seeing how the U.S. handled, and still handles, public safety, I am envious of anyone who can be in a country that takes public safety seriously. Anyway, I really appreciated your words at the beginning.
I am sitting here in the Philippines as an ex US expat and oh how I love this All American family so much. They have such a spirit of family and bond in their sailing adventures. I love how they promote entrepreneurship and give practical advice, even parenting advice. Their candid comments about the pandemic are, to me, exactly what everyone is feeling right now. What I love about this show is I learn something new about sailing and how to be a sailing family every episode.
Great job Zatara family! Always enjoy your videos. Jack it was nice of you to share your relationship facts with Lilly. You were very composed and grown up in the way you responded! Wishing your family many happy adventures and safe travels.
I'm so glad to watch this video! - Keith, you are my idol and when I saw your post at Barrier earlier this week (since removed) I was a bit gutted as I felt in a way that guys were taking the piss out of NZ. Anyway, it's clear watching this that you guys actually treated the rules super well, better than many Kiwis!! - I really hope you enjoy your time on the Gulf, thanks for keeping the videos coming.
You guys are my FAVS!!!! LOVE that you are not PC! Neither am I. Your story has carried me through some really tough times. Thank you all for all that you give us (in more ways than one). God Bless.
When Keith gave the warning at the beginning of the video, I thought, Oh no, what have they done? ..........watched the entire video and I'm still wondering what they've done. Good job family! p.s. I just wanted to say, you're children are a credit to you Keith and Renee. I know you're very proud of them and you should be! Much love, Dave from Australia.
The best part of my Thursday is when the notification for a new video. I found you guys late last year and binged watched every video. I laugh and cry with your family too and I love every second of all the video. All the time and effort put into the videos I have so much respect for you guys. Keep up the great work I can't wait for more videos!!!!!!
I just love your videos 😊 My grandson who is 7 found you and your family yesterday and we spent many hours watching 😊. I feel like I’m travelling with you to the most beautiful places in the world. We’re hooked on you 💫

These people are living their dream and they are a given a good example for their children. Teaching what is more important to value, family, enyoy life and follow your dream. Hello!! From Puerto Rico.
This world was an entirely different place 3 weeks ago. None of us should be judged on who we were in the past. As Maya Angelou said, "When we know better, we do better. " And she was talking about developing this emotional heart understanding of a situation and how we mature emotionally through our life experience.
New subscriber but have watched a few of your videos. You have no idea how much I envy y'all - but we're moving to a boat this coming summer. I think y'all are doing an amazing thing, and your kids are living the dream. If y'all make it back to the East Coast/Gulf Coast in the next couple of years, I look forward to hailing you on VHF. In the meantime, thanks for keeping the dream alive, and sharing an amazing journey.
Kieth if you are ever in Boston and want to get your feet out of the water and into the air let me know. I'm an avid sailor but fly for a living. I'd be glad to either take you up myself of set you up with my friends just to give you that taste of leaving earth once again. Thank you and your family so much for not only providing content over the years but just for living the dream that one day I hope to achieve. Been watching this channel now for 3 years and I really value this family friendly journey all of you have taken.
Keith, you are an awesome dad and a fantastic role model. Renee, you are an awesome mom and great at making perfect youtube content. Anna, miss seeing you on the boat. Jack, you are awesome and so kindhearted. Finn, you be you dude stay safe, stay awesome. Kate, you are great and an awesome speedy learner! Greetings to you from NY. Thank you so much for your story, keep spreading your joy and love!
Its pretty awesome that you showed the young ones and their opinions on the lockdowns and virus. We have seen the same attitudes here with the spring breakers and others. Now that this is affecting the young people also, the attitudes are slowly changing to taking it seriously. To be fair to your kids....we were all that age at one time....and we all probably thought we were invincible and didn't like our freedoms messed with. I was one of those kids.....I am now 60 and high risk with immune deficiencies and COPD. I have a whole new attitude on stuff like this at this age.
The irony, of course, is that if the kids were at home back in the States they would be undergoing the same sequestration, plus having to listen to the idiot who occupies 1600 PA Avenue. At least they have the opportunity to sail around the islands during their four weeks (or longer) and learn some things.
Best show on you tube, hands down. It is, however, for some reason, bittersweet for me. Kind of like watching a memory. I guess it’s just envy. I wish I could have lived this way. What a great mom and dad. Patient, loving, respectful, leaders in a tough world. May your sails always be full, and the wind be at your back. Much peace to you guys.
I just love watching your show!! I live in Missouri and havn't been anywhere really, and it gives me a chance to see what I am missing. Thank you for sharing your family and your adventures and my condolences on your kitty....
1. Thank you for your videos! I came across your channel a few months ago and really enjoy watching your family. In particular I like watching the younger kids learning the ropes. 2. I hope your family back home is safe and well, I know how frightening it can be to be away when something like this pandemic and thousands of miles seperate you. 3. Thank you for your disclaimer at the beginning of the video. I am a healthcare worker in Washington state and hate to hear people say this is no big deal. I leave my shoes outside, strip my clothes, and shower before I can kiss my husband at the end of the day. I haven't seen my grandchildren in 6 weeks because I am considered "essential". We cannot travel and it is nice to live vicariously through your adventures. 4. Hug 'em while you got 'em 5. Wishing you calm winds and smooth sailing
This is amazing: We fell asleep in one world, and woke up in another. Suddenly Disney is out of magic, Paris is no longer romantic, New York doesn't stand up anymore, the Chinese wall is no longer a fortress, and Mecca is empty. Hugs & kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents & friends becomes an act of love. Suddenly you realise that power, beauty & money are worthless, and can't get you the oxygen you're fighting for. The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It only puts humans in cages. I think it's sending us a message: "You are not necessary. The air, earth, water and sky without you are fine. When you come back, remember that you are my guests. Not my masters." Author unknown Love you guys. Be safe
Glad to see your good. Also glad you’re teaching your kids the truth and all that good stuff. Was waiting for PC triggering content, but it didn’t seem to come? Fair winds!
How how hell is he supposed to get any girls out in the middle of oceans lol so I don't know what he's missing out on...I don't see him bringing any island girls back to his parents boat lol maybe they are talking about kids relationships now a days where they just FaceTime each other and don't actually ever see each other just talk through FaceTime and Instagram
Even though I have a feeling it would make his dad's life complete if he did bring some random island girl back to the boat....he seems like he would be one of those cool dad's that would be like hell yeah son
you troll so you actually think that’s what kids relationships are now a days... I mean for him on a boat it’s the best he can get and they did meet up once. I’m 16 and trust me we don’t just FaceTime little kids who are 12 FaceTime if anything I hate FaceTiming and talking on Instagram I want some real shit you can think what you want but kids relationships aren’t online %90 of the time. really think teenagers who just wanna make out and mess around are just online 😂😂 come on bud.
Just finished watching your great episode with my son Luke (10yrs) here in Virginia Beach we too are self quarantined and watching your vids are a great distraction. Keep up the good work and stay healthy
I am sorry I don’t see what they did wrong. This situation with the virus is crazy. Their reaction and comments are normal and all sane people behaviour the same. Good video and lucky you got to NZ during this time.
11:25 All I'm gonna say is i managed to parallel park a 41ft Seawind Cat between 2 boats with a 1.5m on either side by myself, then i just lassoed the cleats... Maybe some parking practice can go on the quarantine activities list. Just having a laugh! Love the vids!
Love watching your videos, you always seem so down to earth with a head on approach to problems .love watching how you guys will handle isolation, such a great family outlook . Please keep making many more video 😄
Yeah maybe but did ypu noticebthat the propspeed bit a miraculous job too? Maybe propspeed always does a good job though? Sure looked nice n smooth though...
Great video, a nice distraction from our current situation. We have been stuck in the boatyard during this wild month and are so close to our splash date we are worried the yard wont be back to work to splash us!!! Keeping positive and watching videos like yours are getting us through it all. soon we will be sailing again. Cheers
Good to see you all back! Wish we had just bought the boat at the Miami boat show!! We could be on the water too ⚓️. Good to see Kate stepping up 💪🏻! She is getting so tall! Sending our love and prayers!! Stay healthy and safe!! ❤️
Stay safe. (Nothing against your son here - he just represents the young culture as a whole): At 8:08 is part of the reason that countries have gone to higher levels of isolation. The younger generation doesn't think it's a big deal. However, they are also finding the virus doesn't discriminate age wise.
Thanks for being humorous guys. We love you. Stay safe and healthy. Very respectful for Lilly. Jack is funny. You guys have to be proud of all of your kiddos. Good crew there.
Damn, the part where you were watching our prime minister announce the lockdown reminded me of how I felt when I heard the news apart from I was at school and was in a test
"They're making a big deal about this" Yea you know I think at some point we all thought that as well...until reality set in and it was too late... And that's what happened to us in the U.S. A lot of people didn't take it seriously and now we are the country with the most cases....
We most likely the most cases for numerous reasons. Our testing is better and more thorough. But the biggest most likely reason, we aren't lying about our confirmed cases. This is one thing no one wants to be #1 in. Lastly thank a trucker. We will do our part in keeping America great!
New viewer here but I’ve been binging on your channel last 2 days ! Love the down to earth content!! Keep up the awesome work! Thanks for the little escape in this weird time in the world 👍
Noah Y.P I asked Keith that the day they came back to Texas recently, he said no, and that they love there boat and are very happy with her. It’s a great boat.
Believe me, boaters are never 100% satisfied, there is always a bigger better boat... One of my dock neighbors even has a boat named "Never Satisfied." 🤣🤣🤣⛵⛵⛵
Love this Show! Reminds me of my time out at sea when I served in the navy and coast guard in my youth! Watching this family always lightens up my day and inspires me to get out there again some day!
The wristband for sea sickness works wonders. I didn’t like the patches or pill because they make me drowsy. The wristband is perfect. You just put the button side on the bottom of your wrist and the pressure from the button is what does it.
Got to love the humour, “if you hit the dislike button, make sure to hit it twice for extra credit” cracked me up😂😂😂 Thanks for the engine answer Kieth, I figured that that a lot of dissembling would be needed. Very few, if any manufacturers now are maintenance minded with their designs and don’t plan for engine removal without stripping the engine down, and sometimes part of the boat. I’ve seen many boats go through hell doing engine changes. When I refitted my old 38ft power cruiser, I redesigned the access for that and it only takes less than an hour to remove the 3208 cat with direct crane access and no disassembly of the saloon or the engine and transmission required. Stay safe guys, this covid19 saga is not going to be over soon. We here in Aussie are preparing for a 6 month duration. We still have the real spike in infections to come with our winter on the way.
This is my first time commenting but I couldn’t resist! That “bad seal”, “smelly seal”, whatever that person wants to be known as, is a rude, insensitive, attention seeking, individual, better known as a miserable person without a life. He’s also part of the problem in this world as we know it right now and needs to get a real life, filled with kindness, happiness, and gratitude versus trying to infect all others with his miserable self. My hubby and I watch you all and are so impressed with your living and parenting abilities. Keep making these wonderful videos, we’ll continue watching as we all whether this horrible health crisis together. Much respect and love your way, from Austin, Texas, USA! ❤️
And dear Finn, I wish “they were making too much out of this”, but sadly, it is a BIG DEAL, this fatal virus is not going away anytime soon. As a veteran pediatric nurse, this virus is terrifying, we’ve never experienced anything like it before, even though we’ve dealt with other Covid viruses a number of times. What’s the saddest in this, not only were we not prepared but because of the lockdowns, hospitals have been included in that, thus preventing loved ones from being at their family member’s side when that patient takes their last breath. If we’re able, we try our best to connect family members via FaceTime with a medical staff’s cellphone, so that family can say their final goodbyes, but it’s so heartbreaking, any way you look at it. May the winds be behind you and I wish you all good health and happiness. ❤️😷
Speaking as someone who’s in lockdown in the UK where you can’t leave your house for anything but 1 hours exercise and to get essential supplies. Finding this channel was a welcome relief. Just found out my nan (grandmother) is receiving end of life care and we’re not even able to see her to say goodbye. Your channel is a welcome distraction.
I agree with John Bailey.. I just saw your kids being kids and having a family making the best of a poop situation.... but my family and I are the type that find humor where we can instead of being negative! LOVE traveling vicariously thru your family
Great dad: Explaining her how to throw the rope, never loosing patience until she got it right. Thanks to her parents that girl will be a confident superstar. Role model in parenting.
fanatictsx .....right !!!!
Love watching kids learn and be taught in a hands on healthy constructive environment!!!
I want kids in the future and I just bought a boat. They showed me that I can do both. Now I just need to be as good as K&R!
Yeah she threw that rope perfect too.
I agree. Not to insult my dad (as he’s 18 years passed being able to defend himself), but he wasn’t anywhere as close to being the proper Dad that Keith is with his children. Never stand in the bight of any line. Next lesson: never stand anywhere near an anchor chain while it's being let out.
Keith, your sense of humour is gold, a real mix of honesty, zest & a sprinkle of sarcasm. Keep waterboarding the kids off the back of the boat for their punishment they’ve turned out really good! 😬😬😬

The anti fouling is impressive, you picked a winner. We all like you all for your honesty, stay classy!
I'll be impressed if it's the same way 12-18 months from now, or especially if it's that way two years from now.

Thx for the advice. Question... would it work to just mix a couple of spoons of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in a glass of water and drink? Have you tried that?
Frank you old swabby, the best cure for sea sickness is to lie down under a tree, mate!
Thanks for the reply. If I lay under a tree for too long I won't be able to get back up. But.... I have a nice hammock stretched between two old oak trees. Finished mowing....now it's a cold brew and watching the birds and squirrels. Nothing better. Have a great day!
@@frankmills5022 Good on you mate, late autumn down here, but the beer is cold !
Stay safe brother ;)
Thank you for not being politically correct all the time. People need to chill the heck out and just do their part to try to stop this stuff.

👍🏻👍🏻
Yep. Pretty much.
As a New Zealander it's been so cool watching your journey and inspiring. Hope our lock down is treating you alright.💕
i'm obsessed with your videos i've binge watched them all while in quarantine!
I so remember that speech. It was a shock that cost everyone so much. Glad you found a way to get through it.
Stay safe 😊
Dear sailing Zatara family,
I just would like to say how happy I am always to watch your vlogs. You have a wonderful family.
I believe that we all come from different cultures, countries and have different traditions but that doesn't mean we should not accept each others differences. I think you are all doing a great job.
Keith man love your positive vibes and comedic side alot.
keep in doing what you do and don't bother with the haters.
As one of my muslim scholar once said you only have haters and envious people when you are successful.
much love.
Ahmad
Locked down island hopping, I can't even imagine how hard that must be for you guys. Livin the dream!
Man that Magic Antifoul looks like it really works awesome. I think I'll use that product. Pretty slick stuff!
Robert Laird .......makes me want to buy a boat 😉 Dang, I forgot I don’t know how to run a boat :(
So great to see TH-cam's most authentic family doing what they enjoy doing together. Stay safe. Be well.
Brother, the change even in your face is amazing. Good job man, be here longer for that amazing family.
You guys bring a smile to my face every time I watch your videos. Thank you for brightening up my day!❤️
I just love your videos 😊
My grandson who is 7 found you and your family yesterday and we spent many hours watching 😊. I feel like I’m travelling with you to the most beautiful places in the world.
We’re hooked on you 💫
You kept mentioning the NZ 4 week lockdown. I suggest you make contingency plans for twice that duration, and probably longer.

I love the escape of watching your escape. Stay safe and thanks for the show.
A question for the Q&A’s where do I get the clear mooring lines from, that Keith is using at 11:42 ? 😁
Great job Kate. Awesome line handling. Be safe Z-Crew! Fair winds
It was good to get to visit with you all again and to know you all are well and ok...take care and stay safe!
How can anyone dislike these videos living the dream fair play to you all xxx
I just love watching your show!! I live in Missouri and havn't been anywhere really, and it gives me a chance to see what I am missing. Thank you for sharing your family and your adventures and my condolences on your kitty....
You won my loyalty when you said you were politically incorrect!
The day that Keith stops making incorrect comments we as fans need to make an intervention.
4. Hug 'em while you got 'em
5. Wishing you calm winds and smooth sailing
This is amazing:
We fell asleep in one world, and woke up in another.
I think it's sending us a message:
"You are not necessary. The air, earth, water and sky without you are fine. When you come back, remember that you are my guests. Not my masters."

HAHA Jack wanted to announce his is single, one at a time ladies!
Lol
How how hell is he supposed to get any girls out in the middle of oceans lol so I don't know what he's missing out on...I don't see him bringing any island girls back to his parents boat lol maybe they are talking about kids relationships now a days where they just FaceTime each other and don't actually ever see each other just talk through FaceTime and Instagram
Even though I have a feeling it would make his dad's life complete if he did bring some random island girl back to the boat....he seems like he would be one of those cool dad's that would be like hell yeah son
Lol
you troll so you actually think that’s what kids relationships are now a days...
Good video and lucky you got to NZ during this time.
no masks in store
If only they had chosen to stay. Of course, it's easy to say than now, with the benefit of six months of hindsight.
Bless us with gorgeous ocean videos, soft breeze, sunshine, mellow peaceful stuff to help us all during this crazy time. Thanks!

Stay safe. (Nothing against your son here - he just represents the young culture as a whole): At 8:08 is part of the reason that countries have gone to higher levels of isolation. The younger generation doesn't think it's a big deal. However, they are also finding the virus doesn't discriminate age wise.
Agreed. 10K dead people in Spain as per today and 950 dead in the last 24 hours... So, not a bloody joke.
Ah, now I see how 3-4 kids come in handy - to hook up the boat to the dock. lol Love you guys. Keeping sailing!

QUESTION FOR Q&A: Do you guys ever look at potential future boats? And will there ever be a trade up for something bigger and better??
Noah Y.P
I asked Keith that the day they came back to Texas recently, he said no, and that they love there boat and are very happy with her.
Yeah it was the weirdest feeling going into lockdown, my husband keeps referring to Zombies hahahahaha
The wristband for sea sickness works wonders. I didn’t like the patches or pill because they make me drowsy. The wristband is perfect. You just put the button side on the bottom of your wrist and the pressure from the button is what does it.
Got to love the humour, “if you hit the dislike button, make sure to hit it twice for extra credit” cracked me up😂😂😂
Thanks for the engine answer Kieth, I figured that that a lot of dissembling would be needed.

Love you guys, I bet when you heard that New Zealand lockdown alert you didn’t think the USA would be how it is today. Stay safe Zatara crew !
If our leaders would have taken the steps that NZ took we wouldn't be in the position were are in.
