A year ago I made a how to catch monster mutton snapper video that has almost 2 million views now. Mutton snapper seems to be a hot topic and many people ask me... What is the best fishing rig to catch mutton snapper?
So it's time I show you the mutton snapper rig I use while fishing. It's called the 'Bottom Drifter' and can be bought at southfloridafishingchannel.com and is what I have been using for the past 2 years now as the best fishing rig, especially here in Key Largo but this fishing rig will work anywhere! It works great for snapper fishing and a bunch of other species!
If you want to catch snapper, then watch this video. It's also a catch clean cook video. What that means is I catch and cook the mutton snapper! We end up doing the catch and cook at Lazy Lobster.
A lot of people think mutton snapper fishing when they think about south florida fishing. After all, mutton snapper are beautiful and great to catch and cook. So how to catch snapper and how to catch mutton snapper are essentially the same. While bottom drifting I tend to catch mainly mutton snapper and yellowtail snapper, not so much mangrove snapper.
The bottom drifter is my favorite and best mutton snapper fishing rig. There's many variations of it, but for me when I want to film a mutton snapper catch and cook fishing episode you know i'm going to be using the best fishing rig for snapper. Key Largo is full of mutton snapper that I am very confident these days that every time I run offshore it will become a catch clean cook snapper episode.

Glad you got your anchor back. They're not cheap. Also might want to look into building a fish cleaning station. I did and costs less than 100 bucks including running water

Those barbs can really do more damage going against the barb ! Just ask a fish ! l o l I searched the bleach thing and it said 10:1 with water was ok , but only to do that one time ONLY !!! On bigger fish, it is best to use pliers so you don't get the hook ! MONSTER FISH THAT DAY W O W !

Glad your having a good day and enjoy more to come..my rig tho is like the knocker rig but instead of the weight hitting the hook I put a crimp about 2 fingers up off the weight (egg) bank sinker 3 inches and spider weights a little further up yet depending on the lead for the spider weight.but bbn uesh that's my go to..I lost alot more fosh wiah the weight hitting g the hook out from head shakes..remember that ;~} sure you already kno but every little bit helps

Great video love them all. If you can elaborate more on gear and terminal tackle used. It would be very appreciated. For example on that bottom drifter rig, how are you attaching it to the main line? tied with knot or using snap swivel for easy changing or regular barrel swivel. Also your main line is it braid what size? tied to that wind on leader? What type and size hooks? Lastly what size rod and reel combinations you using? A little more info on tackle would be very beneficial for many new anglers as well as old ones that have been away from fishing a long time and getting his lines wet again. Thank you.

Hey hienko, this question has nothing to do with your video. But I run a 06 21 seacraft on the southwest coast. " Boca grande, sanibel area " originally from the Ocean City area in Maryland. Originally a trolling fisherman, tuna, mahi , wahoo, white and blue marlin. Do you have any suggestions on how to fish this area?

That's a nice trigger but they get bigger but with the pressure on fish that's a nice ocean trigger.. You should try a catch and cook on barracuda because you will be surprised..

Man, I so love your vids, it's like I'm on the boat there with you! However you could do something just for me. You see, my eyes are at best crap so the text overlays are megga hard to read and, I have to look away from the visual content not to miss out on the whole experience. How come on your website it only has the bottom drifter rig with 80 pound leader
In this video I had the #80 leader going to the gofish cam and then 4ft of #30 leader coming off the gofish cam. I will be adding #40 bottom drifting rigs later this month, waiting for the right hollowcore to show up. #80 is great for all size fish and you can always tip it with something lighter using line to line or a barrel swivel
