Episode 3 of Pennyworth was even more interesting and visiting "The Imitation Game" type storyline with Alan Turing who was the founder of the computer and a mathematician during World War II was a nice mix to the story. The introduction of Martha Kane/Wayne asking for Alfred Pennyworth's assistant and also hints to Bruce Wayne with Pennyworth's backstory was nicely Juxtaposed. This show has so many different things going on but at the same time they are focusing on the task on hand by showing Alfred Pennyworth's skills. You have that mix of A-Team, The Equalizer as he tries even the playing field.
Episode 2 of Pennyworth I think definitely teased as to how Arkham Asylum gets created in the Batman Universe/Gotham City. Not even halfway through the season and the story for Pennyworth is just getting better and better. Jack Bannon is a younger Michael Caine and he brings the James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Alfie personalities so perfectly. I think this show will show how Bruce Wayne will master some of the traits because in this episode we see some of the teases with Alfred Pennyworth which Bruce Wayne will use in the future when he has established himself as Batman. The mystery aspect is great in this show and it just deepens more and more. I am definitely excited for the surprises for this first season.
I hate when someone says "prequel" or "origin" when they're not folding it into an existing canon, that's not what a prequel is. Plus when the show ends they're just gonna flush that universe down the drain. The Phantom Menace is a prequel, The Hobbit is a prequel. Movies like Bumblebee and shows like Gotham and Krypton are not prequels to anything.
Folding into an existing canon isn't, by definition, a requirement of prequels. That said, as things currently stand there's no reason why 'Pennyworth' can't lead, eventually, decades later, into the Nolan Batman films.
Good interview that, the guy's clearly a fan but still asks good questions of interest to comics fans and non-fans alike.

Even better. Jack Bannon (Alfie) actually starred in The Imitation Game.
