    What is your opinion of the automatic transmission on this car. Are them reliable? It's ok for off-roading?

      I prefer the 5spd. Especially if you go bigger tires. My daughter's X-90 runs 33s and the auto is constantly chasing the overdrive on the hwy. Also the older 3spd autos almost always go bad and stop shifting into 3rd until warmed. All that being said auto.is way easier to wheel.with.

      Wonder if I get rid of the 4.62s or whatever they are and put me some 5.12s in my tracker cause I run 33 12.5s on it and I get on the hwy sometimes to the doctor about 40 miles. But it prly wouldn't wouldn't run 45mph or maybe 50

      Yes. The larger gear set will help with larger tires. I ran 35s on mine with the 5.12 gears

    How much do you want for the blue Samurai in the background?

    Where did you get the transmission from? I am looking an automatic transmission for my wife’s 94 tracker

      It came in a parts rig. That's usually what I do, just buy the whole car.

    I know this video is older at this point but do you have any advice on an issue I am having with my 4 speed auto. I have a 97 4 door 16 valve with the 4 speed. It has a little whine in the transmission and it seems like it’s not getting as much power to the wheels as it should. It doesn’t accelerate well and down shifts pretty aggressively. I haven’t flushed it yet and I have little experience with auto transmissions. Any tips or thoughts would be awesome. Thank you.

      My first go to is Sea Foam for transmissions. It usually freshens everything up and helps. The 4 spd doesn't have the common issues like the 3 spd. Also may try a filter change.

      I didn’t even think of sea foam. Thanks for the tip. I’ll do that then flush it and new filter after driving it for a while.

      I finally got around to doing the sea foam and fluid flush. Thank you for the advice it shifts so much better now. I really appreciate the help.

      @@rroutdooridaho6173 That's great. When I had a bad transmission I had to do this knee every 6 months or so but it did the trick. I did about 600 miles a week on that rig.

    I have the 92 automatic 4wd and the transmission and transfer case needs to be dropped... I can't do it cause I'm a paraplegic so I gta get a buddy to do it. I was gna ask you about how long would it take someone that hasn't ever messed with a tracker transmission to drop one ? And another thing. U said you didn't have to mess with your automatic shifter you just took the ball off the 4wd? Thanks!

    • @trashpandaoffroad3548
      @trashpandaoffroad3548  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It can be done in a weekend. I was referring to the shift know. You don't need to remove the transfer case shifter. Just the knob

    • @Dust1220
      @Dust1220 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ok and when u said u had to readjust the motor I'm guessin u had to turn the motor over with ur wrench to get ur extension and socket to the torch converter? And u gta take the starter off to ? Lol I never dropped one or put one in. But my automatic transmission is slippin bad so I'm about to do my first one. It's a 92 tracker

      @Dust1220 yep you are correct on both of those.

    I have a question is the shifter gears suppose to light up ? I recently bought a geo tracker but the shifter doesn't light up

      Not 100% sure what you are referring to but let me try to answer your question. On the automatic the display in the center console does have a light build under it but the indicator is a piece of red plastic. If you are referring to 4x4 there is a light on the dash that lites up and let's you know the transfer case is engaged. Hopefully that helps.

    I went to moab with the 95 tracker 2 door that I have been building for the past year and a half. I saw a Samurai that had been in as nice of shape as my tracker until he a$$ over teakettled it going down an obstacle and I quickly lost my nerve. When I got home I bought a 92 on a chopped 2000 4 door frame with the 2.0 and a double transfer case set up. (Tracker followed by a sami). I'm going to be pulling them out to put a 3:1 in the tracker case and twin sticks in the sami case. Between the two it ends up giving me 1.4, 2.2 4.2 and 6.6:1. I'm going to have to build a frame around the sami case to keep it from exploding while im at it. I know what you mean when you say "I really don't want to do this" but you have to take the pain to get the gain.
    I'm filing rings for the tdi build as I'm catching up on your last couple of videos. Didn't you have a diesel samurai or something? When are you thinking you're gonna get to that project?
    Btw, what gears did you go with?

      Went with the trail creeper 4.24 and I'm happy with them. Will be adding twinsticks soon and probably gonna put a set in my Overland Geo. The diesel samurai has been put on the back burner for now. Trying hard to get the Overland geo ready for zukicon on the Rubicon next weekend. Just replaced the 2.0 that blew the timing chain last year.

      @@trashpandaoffroad3548 the twin stick is one of the best things since lockers. 2 wheel low is so much more useful than I realized. When in low, I probably spend over 95% of the time in 2wd.

    • @trashpandaoffroad3548
      @trashpandaoffroad3548  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I will like it. I spend most of my time on the trail in 2wd already.
