    Greg, this is a terrifically important message and line of inquiry. You are connecting some dots that really need to be connected to stand up against the levelling, hollowing-out, Nehorite interpretations that are so attractive to the rising generations. Connecting agency with differentiation as per 2 Ne 2 and these with hierarchy and GBR or (Logos) in Abraham is profoundly important. This line of thought resonates profoundly with my research and writing in the history of political philosophy and ontology (or the way we understand Being, or the way things are).

      Ralph, I'm wondering if you've heard of my grandfather who was a professor of religion at BYU for a couple decades.
      President Benson said that he understood the Book of Mormon better than any other man living during that time.
      He wrote dozens of books, essays, conference talks and church, institute, seminary and missionary discussion manuals, most of which he refused to have his name put on them.
      He was a religious scholar and a scriptorian.
      The Church and Deseret Book have the Rights to most of his work.
      He has excellent essays about the politics of the church and of Christ's Gospel, and much, much more.
      Look up Glenn L Pearson.
      Let me know if you heard of him or if you're able to find any of his stuff.
      He also wrote The Book of Mormon, Key to Conversion.
      It was the only book allowed in my mission that wasn't a church publication.

    Greg, I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now. It’s hard for me to understand a lot of things. I have a humble testimony, but every time I listen to your presentations, I feel a peace come over me. I truly feel that’s the Spirit confirming to me truth. That means a lot as I’m trying to find my way back to the church. Thank you and God bless.

    Although we hear a lot of DBR on being Peacemakers, I feel the need to take on the role of Gideon, even Captain Moroni. I was raised Catholic with the corrupt doctrine of the Trinity which is held as one of those mysteries that can never be understood. But my catholic mom said that she was told to name me Michael. I am the firstborn of 7 children. Michael the Archangel. It was meant for me to be a sword-bearer. You are a great role model for all of us who have been flattened, so to SPEAK, by being sheepish and nice peacemakers. I am praying for the gift of discernment along with the gift of preaching. Time to sharpen the sword and practice the bow. Thank You, Greg.

  • @mroberts7117

    Your comments on DBR took me over to Romans 10: 13+. Priesthood is a patriarchal order, its job is to speak the word unto others that they can also receive and then speak them selves. This is first done in the house, parallel/complimentary/supplementary to the matriarchal order, where in both together raise children unto God. Second we reach beyond the house to those outside the family, and further as we are called to minister, according as our talents and abilities allow.
    So many through the ages miss that a covenant community is not meant to be a closed group, but open and ever expanding. A proper patriarchy is not an authoritarian power mongering structure of false priests and tyrant's, but a priesthood ministering to all.

    Abraham was describing the ancient order of planets that existed above the earth before the flood. The Book of Revelation is the story of the return of those planets to the earth in a polar configuration, prior to the return of Christ, as described in Abraham 3. The hypocephalus is a star map of that congregation, which is important since we will return to that system during the millennium. The Electric Universe theory (non-LDS) describes what the scriptures are explaining in detail, vindicating nearly everything Joseph Smith said about the cosmos. Their work is available at the Thunderbolt Project.

    I'll edit my comment if you end up covering the same ground later in the video, but in the Church we generally understand that people should exercise righteous dominion. However, the moment anything comes up about how a father should lead his family in righteousness everyone falls apart and twists it into, "The Church is saying that men can be abusive and domineering to their wives and children!"

    • @ramsrnja
      @ramsrnja ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The false tradition is that the wife does not have an equal leadership role in the family. So the reality of husbands practicing unrighteous dominion comes from the attitude of entitlement, in that the husband feels entitled to have his wife go along with his final say, or that he is entitled to be accommodated. And when she doesn't take her "place" as the follower, (and he doesn't feel he needs to follow her equally in return) he gets upset and can be mean to show his disapproval, or try to shame her for not "obeying God." It's simply manipulation, and a misinterpretation of scripture and a misunderstanding of Priesthood.

Helemam 13:38 But behold, your days of probation are past; ye have procrastinated the day of your salvation until it is everlastingly too late, and your destruction is made sure; yea, for ye have sought all the days of your lives for that which ye could not obtain; and ye have sought for happiness in doing iniquity, which thing is contrary to the nature of that righteousness which is in our great and Eternal Head.

    When most of the church is brought down to believe in the doctrine of the Gadiantons. (Helaman 6:38)
    At that point we no longer serve the God of this land and we will be swept off. We cannot defend law if we don't recognize it or care to learn it.
    God can not restore our judges as at the first until we learn and love law.

    So we beat around the bush a bit there, but basically… Kolob is a reference or symbol of Christ yes? Nearest to God, governs all other stars, etc. So when we sing of hieing to Kolob we’re actually singing of coming to Christ. “If we could come completely to Christ in the twinkling of an eye, & then continue onward at the same speed, could we find out when Gods began to be?”
    Essentially teaching the doctrine that even if we came to be perfected in Christ in an instant, we will never discover when Gods began or where matter ends because everything is one eternal round & God’s works have no beginning or end.

  • @caguas97

    Kolob Chiasmus:
    A1 - (2-3) many great ones, governing ones, great one nearest to me
    B1 - (4-9) two facts, one above another, one above them all nearest to the throne of God to govern all the others
    C1 - (10-11) throne of God, face to face
    D1 - (12) my son, my son, I will show you, multiplied
    D2 - (14-15) I will multiple thee, seed, show these things
    C2 - (16) the greater things are, the closer they are to the throne of God
    B2 - (17-21) two facts, one intelligence above another, one above them all, God, to rule over all other intelligences
    A2 - (22-24) many noble and great ones, these are the rulers, one above them all like unto God
    I think the apex is his promised blessing, because that has been the entire theme of Abraham so far. He is seeking the blessings of the fathers: the priesthood and to be a father of many nations (1:2).
    Every time the Lord talks to him, it is to grant him one of these promises:
    The priesthood 1:18
    Land of inheritance and priesthood through his posterity, and A great nation (2:6-11)
    Specific land (2:19)
    Endless posterity (3:14)
    CFM Week 1: Moses 1; Abraham 3
    Not Just Astronomy Going on Here… Stars are People!
    Yes, Abraham was being shown the cosmos. But he was being taught something else as well. Everything he was being taught about stars was equally applicable to people, or more specifically, the children of God.
    God first lays down some ground rules. These are key to understanding what He is about to teach Abraham. The best part is that He doesn’t even make it all that difficult to make the connection (though it took me long enough), because He lists them one right after another.
    Rule #1 for stars: “If two things exist, and there be one above the other, there shall be greater things above them” (v. 16)
    Rule #2 for stars: “Now, if there be two things, one above the other, and the moon be above the earth, then it may be that a planet or a star may exist above it” (v. 17)
    Rule #1 for people: “also, if there be two spirits, and one shall be more intelligent than the other” (v. 18)
    Rule #2 for people: “These two facts do exist, that there are two spirits, one being more intelligent than the other; there shall be another more intelligent than they; I am the Lord thy God, I am more intelligent than they all.” (v. 19)
    The Lord also gives it to Abraham all in one breath, showing him the stars and telling him that Abraham’s seed will be like them: “And he said unto me: Kokaubeam, which signifies stars, or all the great lights, which were in the firmament of heaven. And it was in the night time when the Lord spake these words unto me: I will multiply thee, and thy seed after thee, like unto these” (vv. 13-14)
    So let’s look at some of the particular stars mentioned and see if we can’t find more parallels…
    “These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.” (v. 3)
    “Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.” (v. 9)
    “Kolob is the greatest of all the Kokaubeam that thou hast seen, because it is nearest unto me.” (v. 16)
    Is there a particular person who is nigh unto the throne of God and is set to govern all those which belong to the same order as Abraham?
    Kolob is obviously being used as a metaphor for Christ.
    And I discovered a connection that I am sure will lead to the identification of a chiastic structure here, (I have top people working on it), but this identifies Jesus and the “noble and great ones” as Kolob and the governing stars… check it out!
    “I saw the STARS, that they were very great, and that ONE of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were MANY GREAT ONES which were near unto it; And the Lord said unto me: These are the GOVERNING ONES; and the name of the GREAT ONE is Kolob, because it is near unto me,” (vv. 2-3)
    “Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the INTELLIGENCES that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and GREAT ONES;
    And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my RULERS; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; thou wast chosen before thou wast born. And there stood ONE among them that was like unto God” (vv. 22-24)
    stars = intelligences
    many great ones = noble and great ones
    governing ones = my rulers
    Great one (Kolob) = Jesus Christ

      This is correct. And it lines up perfectly with the beginning of our temple drama. Well said.
      Order is very important to truth, reality, priesthood, and the work and glory of God.
      It is also possible that Abraham is using Egyptian concepts to teach them this hierarchal structure of the DBR (Logos).

    The hierarchical structure ultimately will be based on the parent-child relationship, and grades of righteousness. Those who become sons and daughters of God are commanded to be "one", having all things common. Brothers and sisters, husband and wife, the body of Christ, all should become one and not placing one above the other. God is an all encompassing God that employs all principles. There are principles of hierarchy and order, and principles of unity and equity. The trick is finding the truth in the meshing of the two. All righteous principles can work together.

    As we look at Abraham and Facsimile #2 we see what could be called the “light line of authority”. D&C 50:24 states that “that which is of God is light.” Passing that light through a prism we see it break down into the principles and ordinances of the Gospel. There are higher laws and lesser laws, higher principles and lower principles. As D&C 84:45 states: “word of the =truth, truth = light, light = spirit - even the spirit of Jesus Christ”. D&C 93:24 states that “Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and. as they were, and as they are to come”, but one does not receive a fullness of the truth unless as 93:27 states: “ he keepeth all the commandments.”
    So as Greg points out, there is a hierarchy in all things.

    I know this is sort of off topic, but I've never thought of that Abrhamic scripture as a revelation and symbolically (shame on me). But that all of a sudden sounds awfully a lot like the degrees of glory and afterlife. There are three orders of Heaven (Telestial, Terest, Celest), but also sub heavens within each Kingdom. And the greater ones bring you closer to God and ultimately like him. Anyone else think it could apply like that?

    What I find interesting is that the Lord is speaking to him in language he understands.
    This isn’t language WE understand completely. We must work out what is being shared.
    But because there’s understanding on that end, we must understand that there’s a lot of context we are never going to get because only the conversation alludes to it.
    That said, there’s still much we can gather here. 😁

    Hi Greg, thank you for your explanation. I have a couple questions....When describing Kolob are you saying it is symbolic only or that Kolob is not just a location? Also, in regards to our role as members or the church or disciples of Jesus Christ I see a pattern that is hard to know where the line is.....We need to know truth and teach truth but I feel when Christ came he brought back the law and asks us to have the "Pure Love of Christ" or charity in order to enter the kingdom of Heaven. I can tell you focus on this but today the line between being right and having charity seems to be hard to see and even harder to develop because of the influence of many things. If we all focused on how to develop the pure love of Christ how would all of our words, lessons, thoughts and actions change? If you could do a podcast on that, especially on a time like today where chaos is everywhere that would be great. When we know truth and also choose to love despite that knowledge. I find this very challenging...Like the role of a bishop who may know things and is asked to love people back to church or activity. How do we develop Love like Christ in a time like today, despite our beliefs and differences? I struggle here for sure.

      Good question on Kolob. I don’t know the answer to this, but if I were guessing I might say that Abraham was following some ancient Egyptian idea of the cosmos and then using a parallel with a priesthood structure. He is also making sure we understand that “stars” and the Council in Heaven are part of the gospel. This is contrary to the religion that took over at the time of Lehi.

In addition to being a general noun, the specialized noun dbr may also denote a feeding ground for sheep and lambs, as well as a verbal claim to pasture. Its use in the Bible is a metaphor for the holy book.

    Why can’t there be a word for a co-order of things? Husband and wife are to become one, so they serve together for their family as one in all things. If we had that beautiful paradigm, marriages and families would be much healthier and Heavenly Mother wouldn’t be nearly invisible.

    • @amynazza
      @amynazza ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it comes down to stewardship. Heavenly Mother would have been instrumental in creating our spirit bodies similar to earth mothers creating physical bodies. Yet men are needed to bring physical bodies back into the presence of God---that is their stewardship. I'm sure Heavenly Mother is aware of us and loving us from a distance and wants us to return just as earth mothers are aware and loving their kids who leave home to start their adult lives. I recommend looking into the ancient Asian custom of never speaking their mothers' name---many countries in that continent have this tradition. When you look at all the reasons why they do this from a gospel perspective it puts Heavenly Mother's "invisible" / absence in scripture in a very sweet and tender perspective.

    • @ggrace1133
      @ggrace1133 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@amynazza thank you for your response. There’s just no scriptural reference to “men only are needed to bring physical bodies back into the presence of God.” It’s always men who say men do certain things and women do the motherhood stuff., even though many women never become mothers. My kids are grown and gone, but I am daily involved with them and their families. I am visible, to be sure. There isn’t any scripture that even says there is a Heavenly Mother, so it’s an LDS paradigm that says she’s too Holy to even speak of Her. It has been very sad that down through the ages, women weren’t allowed to own property until about 100 years ago, had no say in decisions, were considered too emotional to be able to make sound decisions, needed no education to “only waste it on motherhood,” couldn’t vote, couldn’t keep inherited land but had to give it to the husband, and weren’t accepted into medical schools. Women were considered inferior to, and less smart than men. Yet we know Heavenly Father did not create this paradigm-mortal men did. Women could have contributed so much to the world if they’d only been allowed to…if only they had that respect. Perhaps wars could have been prevented. Perhaps there would have been less pride, greed, and fewer secret combinations. I don’t think women should replace men, nor are they one bit better. Neither gender should dominate the other, but be one heart and one mind together. But I do believe they have so much to contribute when allowed to be evenly empowered and welcomed. In Zion, it seems they must be in order to be of one heart and one mind-you can’t leave their hearts and minds out and still be one. That’s why I wonder what a male-female-archy is called. Maybe a uniarchal society? Time will tell. Till then, we continue to abide and endure, hope and pray.

    • @ramsrnja
      @ramsrnja ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. There is no "patriarchy" or "matriarchy" in heaven according to modern-day definitions. Heaven is a parentarchy, or parent rule, with an equal patriarch and matriarch standing side by side. What men have argued for traditionally is a husbandarchy because they hold the Priesthood. But their priesthood gives them authority to bless the family, with the ordinances of the gospel, not to make all the decisions. This is what they preside over, the responsibility of giving gospel and priesthood blessings. Their priesthood office as an Elder for example is in regards to their duties in the church, but at home their office is father (King, Priest) and the wife's office is mother (Queen, Priestess).

    Lol, how fun. DBR, word, order, plant ... the sword of truth; the Word. The sword transformed into a plow share when it's time to break up that stony heart. Now that Word or seed of truth can be planted in the heart.
    The seed grows into the Tree of Life which the Mayans equated with the throne.
    Progression occurs as that tree grows.
    Nephi saw the pure fountain of water springing from the base of the tree of life.
    "Be ye clean, ye that bear the vessels of the Lord." So as we follow the Covenant Path, our tree progresses until we are purified vessels, Then, "out of his bellly shall flow rivers of living waters."
    We are sanctified to the degree of becoming an Adam or Eve. We follow the pattern of becoming a tree of life with the living waters springing up to pour out from our hand to bless others.
