I’d love if Apple’s App Clips would finally take off. Feels like it would be like the mini apps. If they didn’t have all the other Big Tech companies trying to block them, I think Apple’s ecosystem would become our version of WeChat.
That is quite unusual as English version does have English. We suggest to check the app settings and maybe you need to find language preferences to change it to English.
Hello I have the same questions as the person below: so for the mini app specifically for hotel booking, it all in Chinese. It does not translate. I downloaded in in English. Any advise on how to get the mini hotel selection to be in English.?
Hi, can I use Wise card to link bank card. It was not mentioned in this video but in the Alipay video it was mentioned that Wise card can be use as link bank card for Alipay.
Wise card can be linked to Alipay but on WeChat I am not too confident about it. However, we haven't tried it yet so maybe it does work. Please let us know if Wise card can be used with WeChat pay
Can i send a reicve money ? Witout bank acount ? I have suppliers in china need to give me money and than i want to use this money to buy from other supplier no need to withdraw only recive and send is possible?
Our team actually tried this on Alipay and it worked, so you should be able to transfer money using your Alipay accounts (without having a Chinese bank). This is not a guarantee, sometimes it may work, others not.
@ 5:02 One crucial point: You don't tell us if we need to go online in China to pay with bundled foreign credit cards (AliPay or WeChat bundled no problem)? My logic is: no data, no internet, no connection unless those apps get us thru automatically. I know eSIM can go outside China (social media as well) but not 100% sure about banking & how fast the data is chewed up (it's on roaming). Anybody? Otherwise, I might just buy a local physical SIM at the China airport SIM counter, get them to install then go online to pay for the SIM right there. If OK then all good. Remember no money no go. But opt for money or social media? Your call. (local SIM might need a VPN to go outside China for social media).
Care to make one that targets those of us who haven't been to China or never familiar with WeChat just saying you might get a larger following for those of us are interested in that kind of stuff food for thought
The video should help complete newbies to Wechat/China. Anything specific you want to know more about? The more detail you give, the more we can help :)

Since there is a closing date / billing cycle on your credit card, how does one manage to pay the balance while you are still in China for longer than a month. Does one use VPN to log on your bank account from China? Could this be done?
@@LTLChinese I have another question. Unless you have a Chinese sim card, your wechat won't be working because there is no wifi on a taxi, how do you pay for the taxi with your wechat?
In that very tight scenario, trying to use cash can help. It might occue that the driver might not be too happy about it but its definitely worth a try@@designqq8905
Debit card should also work just fine but as mentioned in the video it is very case to case based. Some international banks might have restrictions when it comes to debit cards so please check with your bank first. Good luck =)

Thanks for the helpful video. I don't have a local China bank account, is it possible to be able to pay someone to transfer CNY to Wechat account so I can use it to buy things from street vendors, small shops etc. in China? I shall be visiting Xiamen, Anhui, Zhuanzhou in late Oct for a week. I have just downloaded WeChat but have yet to set up the account.
@@LTLChinese Thanks a million! I shall be visiting China late Oct, in just about a month from now. One night in Anxi county, 2 nights in a remote village in the mountains (Zhengkheng village), then over to Quanzhou for a night and finally 3 nights in Xiamen.
Hi, first-time user here. Please I have a question: I found out that I can change my WeChat ID from the randomly generated one, but it says I should not put my own name in the ID, which goes differently than in other services like Linkedin, X or Facebook. It also mentions not to include other personal details in the ID, which is totally understandable, but why not include my own name? Can't I put any part of my name or initials in there? is there a reason why this is not recommended? could this lead to any concerns or issues, such as identity theft? I couldn't find an answer to this point anywhere, please advise. Thanks!
Your ID can be anything. Maybe best to avoid your full name exactly, but if you wanted to do something like JohnS123456 this is fine. It's more just safety advice from WeChat.
My comment would be what if we're not the $700 million that live in China and we're not familiar with what's up why don't you teach us how to use it to contact somebody in China just saying
This is a great video. I like it very much.
Thank you very much!
What a great video! Thank you so much for sharing all the tips... Just what I need❤
So happy to hear it :)

Yes. I've had it since 2019

Yes you can use Wechat normally without a VPN.
Since there is a closing date / billing cycle on your credit card, how does one manage to pay the balance while you are still in China for longer than a month. Does one use VPN to log on your bank account from China? Could this be done?
As long as your credit/debit card is saved on the app, it will automatically deduct its fees.

If you know someone in China, get them to send you money via Wechat and you can pay them via cash or bank account.

You can add a WeChat account by scanning their barcode :)
So it only co-locates all apps under one shortcut icon.
The mini apps are pooled together to make it convenient :)
