@@TheCaregiverSITMOBAnd all eyes bewildered , but it's from Everywhere, an empty bliss
anyways. everywhere an empty bliss
There's a reason why this sample from everywhere at the end of time is from 1904 and not the 1920s and thats because its a warped childhood memory
And the Il Trovatore sample would be the earliest accessible memory, further warped from the time the Caretaker was a child, too.

This is probably the oldest song the caretaker has ever sampled, literally *everyone* alive when this was recorded is now dead.

@yigit1178 dementia
The thing that creeps me out is that it wasn't ever supposed to be scary
Possibly because of the fact that when it was recorded records were bleeding edge technology that was still very new, meaning that the recording was somewhat distorted to begin with. The very first music recordings of the late 1880s are so deteriorated that they wouldn't be out of place in his earlier work. th-cam.com/video/H31q7Qrjjo0/w-d-xo.html
the eateot version is one of my favorite songs even though it freaks me out LMAOOOO
glad to find the original that isnt creepy
The original is still creepy as fuck, but that's all because of difference in times. For me, Stage 3 is my favourite despite it being disturbing. Really encapsulates the dread of losing one's own thoughts in that little cancer called dementia. This in particular... definitely the most disturbing of them all. It's absolutely nasty in all sense of the word.
What an adorable little tune!
It would be a shame if some guy named leyland kirby puts this in a 6 part album about dementia called everywhere at the end of time but that wont happen

All of these comments about this beautiful song and all historical recordings irk me very much. These artists poured their life’s and souls into these recordings, only for them to be recognized and remembered with silly made up tracks. I get the caretaker, I really do, but obsessing over a warped and destroyed version of a song that is something other than the artist intended to me is wrong.

While this may sound like the version used in EATEOT, the sample for E7 is actually from 1910.
It sounds similar, but The Caretaker used a different version, I forget which one, ironic.
why does old music from the early 1900s have that weird distortion or modulation?
Recording tech wasn’t as good then, and was compressed onto a record, which lowers the quality and also, the crackling is usually specks of dust or scratches on the disc.
You do realise they didn't have CDs or any of the modern tech we have
The best they had was the Phonograph cylinders, Cylinders of wax that would record Audio and is stored in a cardboard container, but the more its taken out to play and just from general age and dust, those little crackles start to show up, same goes for a record player, dust on the disc creates those pops and crackles
i knew that things werent technologically advanced back in the early 20th century i just didnt know what the modulation was about.
Acoustic recording could only capture a small portion of sound wavelengths: there was very little bass, hence the "tinny" sound.
See,we're lucky we still have this song most of those preserved songs get damaged
this sounds like a nightmare about being mowed down by the ice cream truck
something about early recordings. i have over 500 78s and ill always keep getting more
I believe this is an Edison cylinder, the precursor to the 78 record
So this was the earlier version, oh I’m also here from Eaeb with voices.
the not-so-prettiest little song of all
