      @@the.communist Or people who want to buy a new rim brake bike are actually a small minority and bike manufacturers prefer to sell more bikes.

      I’m not so sure it’s a minority anymore at least. Lots of people are realising that disc brakes are unnecessary weight for the majority of riding and wanting to go back to lightweight. I reckon they will come back into vogue for the Mainstream.

      @@onthemoveot you can still get rim brakes on cheaper bikes, becauss they are cheaper and perform worse than discs. But if you get into more expensive bikes it just makes more sense, the difference in stopping power is so huge. As for the weight argument, 100 grams or 200 really dont matter as much as people think it does, even whem going up mountains, and also going down the advantages of better braking will more than make up for it. The only place where you can really feel every gram is the wheels because its rotating mass, if someone tells you the can feel a difference of 500 grams on a bike frame they are lying

    I’ve a Specialized tarmac Sl6 with rim brakes- relatively modern frame (which replaced sl4 under lifetime warranty - thanks to my LBS’ eagle eye!)direct mounted brakes and mechanical 105 groupset. Sort of still love and increasingly so!
    I hope your next video isn’t the one to kill rim brakes off 🤞😁

    I love how distinctly different Jimmi’s video is from this one, even though they both cover the same subject. Jimmi’s vid really shows the craftsmanship in bike building, and yes, it has a much more of a chill vibe vs the quick cut style of Francis’s videos. Love ‘em both, tbh! Ride on, good people!

    I am 100% with Jimmy on which way around to have your AXS shifting. I changed mine working a week when I fitted them, as I kept shifting the wrong way. 👏

      Just the non round stem! I have the Addict not as high spec a version of this but the stem is a let down. Makes mounting devices much more challenging. But she rides lovely

    I'm still on a 2013 Scott Addict RC rim brake and I'd love to upgrade to a bike like this. It really is a shame they don't sell them.

    Had a Shimano team edition rim Addict in 2013/14... lightest bike and the "one that got away" from me. LOVED it.

    I have used di2 on my TT bike for a couple of years now with single buttons on the skis and am very used to left button goes up cassette and right button goes down, however the second I put etap on my road bike my natural instinct even with years of conditioning was to push the right button to go up the cassette and left to go down.....weird 🤷

    I'm building my mechanical 12 speed sram red/force/rival groupset for my road bike, using used parts, adding the conversion kit from ratio. super hyped to get it done.

      Yeah and ask the UCI why they don't have to obey their own rules! I'm sure equipment used in UCI events has to be available to the general public.

    Do you have a preference between the Pro Stealth and the Selle Italia Superflow?

      Both great saddles. Stealth gets too wide too suddenly on the wings for me, and also the rails don’t allow me to mount it quite as far back as I need it.
      But extra points for the light mounting holes on the back.

I stumbled across your content about 3 months ago whilst recovering from a partially torn achilles, you have re invigorated my love for cycling, after 5 years off the bike Iv rebuilt my road bike and I’m using it to recover from my injury, love your content and your vibe, keep up the great work!     Very nice very blue, it's interesting to see the difference in filming between Jimmi and yourself. Now it explains the reason for rim brake bike, though Jimmi referred to borrowing the wheels as robbed.😂

    Just a nod to Jimmi - I felt exactly the same way about that groupset and the config of the shifters. I have SRAM Force wireless 12-speed too, and had the right paddle pushing the chain "up" the cassette to a gentler gear... aaaaaaand then something broke in my brain and I revised the config back to the quote-unquote normal way. I'm with you in spirit Jimmi! Great classic-style build, everyone.

    Nice vid, but.. cutting carbon fork steerer workshop practice requires a damp cloth to capture the carbon dust and reduce chance of introduction into the workshop.. for obvious reasons. As are disposable gloves.

    Thanks a lot for the video. For me I love the fact that it has a frame pump on it, I think it's the 'cherry' on top of a great looking bike.
    Btw hasn't James (bike fit Tuesday) got a bike with a frame pump?

    Another really nice build there Francis 👌. Just keep watch on the front chain ring's plastics. My new bike's Force etap groupset has suffered two "plastic fails" ( warranty covered from sram 👏👍)..... my sram red etap axs groupset has been faultless 👍👌

      I would think they get around this by the fact it was available in the past. I have raced UCI events on a bike no longer available but on the UCI list.

    When GCN and other youtube influencers are promoting that the disc brake is the best brakes for road bikes, why would the UCI develop the up and coming pro-riders in their U23 squad with bikes using (not the best) rim brakes?

    Hi : please check minute 4:05 am I mistaken or you mounted the brakes up-side down (the yellow rubber can flip out while the front wheel rotates) 😱

      most are yes, but some wheels like spinonthese have a braking surface but a disc hub with adapters so you can run it rim or disc which is pretty neat

    Today I bought some latex after endless light tubes gave up, my anti cycling girlfriend wasn’t impressed . Super light butyl supersonic out the window. Talc’d up Latex in. I enjoy the cheap China gruppo build real world reviews Cade. Cheeers

    The SRAM wrap system seems so much better designed than the Shimano wired Di2. Is this because SRAM has the patents, and Shimano is a work around?

      There's definitely perks to both, but in terms of design SRAM being truly wireless definitely have an edge for installation

    So they will supply uci racers with them but not the public who are willing to pay...
    This says what is wrong with the cycling industry reguardless of which side of the disc or rim brake fence you're on... what's wrong with having a choice 🤷‍♂️
