    hi! i love your videos, you've helped me more than i thought possible. could you make a video on your render settings?

    • @RaukoDaz3D

      Hey Faith - glad to have been some help. As for my render settings .. there's not much I do (if anything) from default. Is there anything specific you need?

      @@RaukoDaz3D hi! Thanks for responding.
      I thought render settings had a big enpact on how your renders came out. They don't? For example: max/min samples

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahhh .. those render settings .. I thought you were talking about things like bloom & tone mappings etc ..
      But again .. nothing much .. I usually set the max samples to 150,000 and then stop any render when I'm happy with it .. fortunately I have a 3090 graphics card and so can do 1000s of iterations pretty quick ..
      I'll also put the rendering quality up to 5 .. and the Converged Ratio up to 99% .. the Quality effects how fast the Converged % raises during the render (the yellow progress bar) - with a higher number giving smaller increments .. the 99% indicating a better overall (and therefore longer) render ..
      But I barely let these numbers be hit and have the render finish naturally .. At some point I tell myself that render-wise it's not going to look any cleaner and so stop it manually ..

    Great vid - An neat tool i found to help out with lightning position/tweaking is Orbital Lights she its inactive on the daz store nowadays (still works wonders thoo)

    Great I love the lightning tutorials! I have problems to light dark clothing properly. Somehow there are some areas which light cannot reach and that is purely dark. Any tutorial on dark clothing would be fantastic!

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sebastian - probably the only thing you can do in that situation is add more ambient lighting to the scene or to brighten the lights already in the scene.

    Thank you for this! It's interesting that you don't see any "pre-made" 3-point lighting systems in the Daz or Renderosity stores; I guess it's because each scene is so unique that there's no "all in one" solution for it. (Not to mention they're easy enough to create on one's own.) Do you prefer these for studio lights rather than some of the HDRI sets out there that are made for studio shots? Thanks for your vids; I've found them helpful over the past few months.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As you say - it's pretty simple to set up for people so a pre-made set on the Daz store probably wouldn't be worth it for people .. ... As for myself - contrary to the video - I barely ever use spot / point lights in my own scenes .. preferring instead to use the environment itself to help light things up with a HDRI .. so, being mindful of light direction and openings into the scene (if it's indoors) ... I'll get round to doing videos on that once all the simpler stuff is out of the way! Oh, and I barely do studio shots as a lot of the time the finished render can end up looking artificial whereas I like to go more down the realism path ..

      There a number of products in the Daz store that have three point lighting rigs. FWIW, using the most common terminology for the 3 lights would probably help newer folks from getting confused watching other videos. Those are Key, backlight and rim light.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fast1bike Hey Larry - I mistakenly called the Key Light the "Main Light" in the video but hopefully the text overlay sorted that ... sorry about that! However, the Back Light and Rim Light are the same thing and the name can be used interchangebly .. But the Fill Light (which you've missed in your message above) is the correct term

    Nice Tutorial, real helpful. The peach fuzz on the model, is it Vellus? or does it come with this specific model? Thanks.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The facial fuzz is what comes with the model (although not sure how well it can be seen in this example) - the fuzz on the arms though is an old one I have lying around and I always use (it's an old G3 vellus that I converted to G8)

    Seen several games using Daz 3D models. It's just a set of pictures, but quality is awesome. So time for a noob question, is this not possible in real time? I mean final result. And if it's not possible when it's possible? How many power need for this?

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you can do animation with it - but, Daz isn't a game engine like Unreal or Unity .. it uses a full 3d render engine built for high quality results rather than game speed results .. think of your rendered game intros rather than the game itseelf .. How long for real time .. ? Currently .. a long time .. a single high quality frame could take anywhere between 5 minutes to a hour to render on a top graphics card .. so multiple that by 24 (at least) just to get a seconds worth of frames .. real time full ray traced rendering will be a long way off

    • @Orevuar
      @Orevuar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RaukoDaz3D so, RTX 3090 ~ 5 min 1 frame, 30 frame per second is 9 000 x RTX 3090 ~ 315 PFLOPS with today rendering technique. I think not in this century. P.S. Do not pay attention i am just trying to imagine how big is it without any meaning.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That 5 minutes per frame will be low quality / resolution and a heavily optimised scene also .. a 4k render to a fairly clean state takes over a hour on a 3090 ..

    What were your settings for the main light & fill light because my scene is very dark.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no real set number .. just keep increasing the Key light Lumens until it's bright enough to see .. then set the fill light to something less than the Key light .. how much depends on how dark (or not) you want your shadows ..
