I'm interesting in hearing about the "fastness" of the phone, as you said pixel phones have problems with staying fast and now the CPU is even slower. Like is this a huge deal, can you notice it already when quickly switching apps etc.
There's a Reddit user who appears to have discovered a fix for the performance issues that plague some Pixel 3s and android one phones, well it turns out the main culprit is the Digital Wellbeing. Disabling it altogether should fix it for now. Not sure how true this is but it's definitely worth checking out. I wouldn't be worried of the slower midrange processor, the SD 670 will do just fine unless you switch back and forth between graphic intensive games and heavy editing. Getting the exact same main camera as its flagship version for only $399, coupled with 3 years of guaranteed updates and a headphone jack, it's definitely a steal IMO. I do however wish that Google would have waited a bit longer for the SD 730 instead of rushing to launch the phone with last year's midrange processor.
@@AzmiHere It isn't even about the last year's Processor. They could've used the 710 which is in one of the Nokia midrange phones and it's a great processor for this price point. Please do a comparison, since they went cheaper on the internal specs how much performance are you really giving up? I'd say compare it to another budget phone, an older iPhone like the 8, the OG Pixel 3, and a flagship like the Note9 or Galaxy 10
Snapdragon 670 uses the same cores as the 845, just a different 'division' of cores, 2 high clockspeed performance cores and 6 lower clockspeed efficiency cores, compared to 4 + 4 by the 845. Seems like the 670 will be similar to the 835. An absolutely fantastic trade off, in my eyes.
I personally am quite happy you told me NOT to watch your first ever video on Hot Ones. XD It's easy to see where you are right now and not realise the hard work that went into it. Nice man :) Have you ever thought about making a video on switching from the Apple eco-system to the Windows/Android eco-system? I converted from Windows back in 2011 because I'd basically had enough, and back then it was the way forward. I'm also a musician and Apple is pretty industry standard especially in terms of HW compatibility but I'm thinking it might be time to try and take a look outside. I only use my Macbook and iPhone and even then, they're old AF and need an upgrade so I'm not losing out too badly, except for my copy of Logic...
Finally! Someone at Google listened! They brought back the 3.5mm headphone jack! Screw wireless charging (I need to use my phone even when charging). Atleast it has the fast USB-C!
I was surprised he didn't mention it. This is a deal breaker for me because I'm on a Pixel 1 and the only thing I would want in a new phone is the visual core chip (the OG Pixel doesn't have one). The Pixel 3a essentially a modernised Pixel 1.
Firstly, a software is an application, it can never be a chip. Visual Core chipset is a custom chipset designed by Google software engineers, to enhance the AI (including AR) capabilities of the phone. Still its a bummer for the Pixel 3a to not include it, while software trickery would result in inconsistency because of the degraded processor and ISP as well.
I'm curious why that matters? I have a P2XL, and literally the only tangible benefit I see from the PVC is getting HDR+ when using Snapchat. Even then, you can circumvent that by taking the same picture using the Google Camera app, and importing the picture into Snapchat. After using the PVC for nearly 2 years, I can very easily say it's something I can live without.
Yes, a 3.5mm jack is what I wanted, but not for headphones. For plugging into the soundboard! As long as this thing doesn't lag or feel cheap, I'll be buying it
Oh, you mean "planned obsolescence" charging? No thanks. All that heat from fast charging ruins battery life over time. I'll stick to so-called slow charging. Plug it in when I wake up, and in the hour it takes me to have breakfast and get showered so I can go to work, I have 100%. Absolutely no need for fast charging.
I really like midrange phones and the SD 6XX SoC. I currently have a Moto X4 and it does everything I want except it lacks a great camera and an OLED screen. This sounds great! The only drawback is the lack of an SD card.

@@AzmiHere It isn't even about the last year's Processor. They could've used the 710 which is in one of the Nokia midrange phones and it's a great processor for this price point. Marques is the best product reviewer on TH-cam. Thank you and keep up the good job.
Google nailed what it means to be a budget minded device, apple was so far off. The XR is a watered down cost cutting XS.
The Pixel 3a is a midrange phone except the camera. The iPhone XR never was meant to be a budget or midrange phone...
@@Raja995mh33 but it puts itself into that catagory BY cutting all those corners, and by being priced so much lower than a premium flagship, apple may not call it a budget device but that's what it is, by market standards.
Completely reasonable for Google since they wanted to cut as much corners they can, you’ll miss out on the IP67/68, Wireless charging, Premium feel and the good thing is that you’ll be getting a flagship Camera. Let’s not forget a headphone jack for the dinosaurs.
The XR was never advertised as a “Budget” Phone, but an “Lower Priced” from Flagship XS
You should probably be comparing this to an iPhone 7 (priced at $449). The iPhone XR is WAY too good to be comparing to this.
@@Racko. cutting corners on a $400 phone is far more acceptable than the compromises the XR makes for *$750*
You lose out on the steel frame, ip68, oled, 1080p+ resolution, telephoto cameras.
Cutting corners to provide a better experience for the lower tier market and then making a cash grab watered down XS are completely different concepts and it's a shame you don't get that.
It flips the script. But does it fold it is the real question
yes it does, but only once
JerryRigEverything
Does it fold the script tho? I mean you can flip the script but what happens when you fold the script?
Maybe a headphone jack but no charging port...😂
You can absolutely fold it, but it breaks if you do. So the same feature set as the Galaxy Fold
In India we get OnePlus 6T at price of RS :- 32999/-
But pixel 3A price is Rs:- 40000 /-
oneplus 7 all the way ..
Yeah dude but it is supposed to be a mid range premium smartphone. Well never mind. I'm still so happy with my current Pixel 1, it doesn't matter if I don't have money for a new one.
OnePlus 7 would be cheaper than 3a here🤦🏻♂️
Tariffs 😭😭😭
OnePlus 7 is coming on May 14
And is expected price will be about RS:- 35k
"If you want the best camera, you gotta pay more" - NOT!
Please talk about the HDR+ processing time after you take multiple photos simultaneously.. I feel like the camera would lag.
From other reviewers I've heard its 2-3 seconds longer than the flagship pixel for night sight. If that's useful for you at all.
@@lukaszwysocki714 thanks. It's as expected. That's why I use the Pocofone + Google camera... The processor simply makes the whole thing lag free.
@@shafayat1004 That's not lag, that's just longer processing time, it doesn't affect taking pictures at all.
@@josharntt the pixel flagship phones do lag, hence even MKBHD said, he wonder if the 3a will be able to age well regarding that low end processor. You get way more delays with this phone.
@@tshepangescobar18 The processor isn't low end, it's upper mid range, and very similar to the Snapdragon 835. But that's not what I was saying about lag, I was saying there's a difference between lag and processing time, lag would be if there was a second delay in between pressing the shutter button and taking the picture, which there isn't.
🔥🔥Only 399$!?!?! that's a *great price* !!!🔥🔥
BUT CAN IT DO THIS???

Wouldn't mind a comparison between both 3a and 3a xl. Love your vids. Looking forward to the OnePlus 7. I know different league but still.
The Pixel 3a is the perfect smartphone for me, really cool.
Same here, I don't use my phone heavily so this is a great choice for me. People mention how the specs are worse but they are midrange specs, they don't perform badly against phones of the same price range.
