For those who don't know: Shell grouping is actually the sigma value which determines the chance how much the shells will gravitate towards the center. The higher the sigma value the stronger the shells will gravitate towards the center. Dispersion is the overall area the shells can land in and it looks like an ellipse. Simply put the sigma can be imagined as a smaller ellipse inside the dispersion ellipse where about 50% of all shells possible land (not per salvo). Good to know also is that if you decrease the dispersion (decrease the dispersion area) you also decrease the "sigma area". But if you only increase the shell grouping (the sigma value) you will only increase the "sigma area". So for some ships that have really good dispersion but poor sigma (like the german BCs) you want inspirations like Cunningham and for most BBS (like US BBs with good sigma and okay dispersion overall) inspirations like AL Scharnhorst are better.
There's a good chance of that happening on anything that isn't a broadside battleship. That's just AP for you. Use HE unless you're hitting something chunky right in the citadel.
Of course, what kind of profile the enemy ship is presenting is also a thang to consider. It's easier hitting a broadside target then a bow tanking one. But like he said, knowing if your bb has vertical or horizontal dispersion is half the battle. I'll take horizontal dispersion over vertical dispersion any day
German BB: get close so I can hit you with my main secondary battery. Because at this rate I think that the main battery is just part of the secondary armament 💀💀 Russian BB: (thick drunken Russian accent) Get close so I can slap you " shoot's at 14 kilometers, misses every shot" Get even closer " shoot's at 10 km and results in a detonation"😂😂😂 Japanese and American BB: an Angry Latina grandmother throwing a chancla at one of their grandson at 20 kilometers.
Perhaps you should have included on how to aim at ships moving diagonally? I've watched too many players on my team who can barely land a single shell at a ship moving diagonally, it's frustrating as hell to watch. Hopefully you can cover that as well. I'm getting tired of carrying potatoes who can't aim decently.
Nah, people just need to learn how to counter them ... Destroyer players need to realize how important spotting is for example instead of always going for damage. Always make sure you have a way out is another example ... To many rush in to close to fast with BB's in open water and end up getting burned down because they cant get away so be aware of whats out there before you move in to far. Learn to blind fire, i took out plenty cruisers and dd's i couldnt see. You having problems with cruisers that keep burning you down is mostly a skill issue
My logic is that if I'm in a BB, I'm, going to spend most of the battle on fire anyway, so I might as well take Flam Can and get a bit of accuracy while I'm burning.
(question) with the little images above the ribbons that show penetrate, overpen, shatter, ricochet but what does the 4th image mean left to the ricochet i never knew what it meant any could only think penetrate but shattered
So you're missing one. There are a total of 5 Target Hit ribbons. These are broken down into penetrate, over penetration, shatter, torpedo protection hit, and ricochet. I'm pretty sure that torpedo protection hit is the one you're missing, as its symbol on the ribbon does kind of look like a "penetrate but shattered", however there is no actual ribbon by that classification. For all intents and purposes torpedo protection hit acts as a "shattered" ribbon in that it deals no damage, and it is primarily there to tell players why their shells didn't do any damage despite hitting near the waterline where a player would expect damage to occur. Hopes this helps!
Thanks it was helpful, I'm new. But it was extremely fast. Alot of information in a short time just saying. Ultimately good job thank you this will help
Doesn’t firing a full salvo at once also increase accuracy? I’m pretty sure it does but I’ve never seen detailed numbers. Also, not to be that guy but it’s a capital “i” for Iachino.
@@pgrapidz I’ve seen a lot of people make the same mistake. I hated being the guy that even pointed it out. It feels more accurate when I fire a full salvo but I guess it’s just because I’m firing more shells. Interesting none the less. I’ve definitely heard other cc’s mention it. Thanks for the reply.
If you go into the armor viewer, you can select the armor values on the right side of the screen. It will then tell you the size of the guns that the armor is capable of bouncing when it is angled. For example, 16 mm of armor can bounce 208 mm cruiser guns, but when it is angled.
Yes, even if it's not green-ish. Angling is how you survive against other BBs and CCs spamming AP at you. You can even survive a full salvo from a Yamato if you angle right. Did just that yesterday against a Musashi (Tier 8 sister ship of Yamato). Even its monstrous 460 mm shells means nothing if you can angle right and make their shells bounce off of you.
Wtf is lock on omg I’ve never heard of this before or used it… also can any commander go anywhere? I unlocked William sims but he’s not showing as an option on my British ship lines.
It also completely guts your top speed, on some Battleships it’s manageable but US battleships are slow by default, making them even slower hurts you more than you’d think
@@pgrapidz Personally I don't care about top speed on battleships, gun performance and durability is what matters in my experience. Mobility is helpful, but positioning well reduces the need for much speed.
@@Bruh-bs6do then you can’t disengage American bb’s already have good dmg on their 406 so you might aswell go for some extra speed and you don’t think it’s much till your Iowa,Massie,Georgia can go 30+ which means you can get into position quicker
Wow I didn't even know the benefit of a special captain 😂. I'm the worst at figuring out video games I just start playing and don't even really research the game. I have to try this thank you. I currently am using my new Yamotto I couldn't wait to get. I'm completely disappointed in it's guns both main and secondary. I'm so use to the firing arc of my top German BB the Yamotto feels like it lobs everything and the accuracy is all over the place. I expected to absolutely wipe out cruisers in a full on close broad side but nope over penetration and lack of damage usually with the exception of one cruiser it absolutely obliterated from a full hp level. Of course it was a desperate last shot at the very end of the game and my ship blew up at the same time so I didn't get to see where the kill shot hit.
Most of this is knowing your ship if your new to the Game ( less then a year tbh) if you get in a new ship first 2 or 3 games your gonna suck ass. Most of this is just practice and understanding ships and there abilities

Oh yah, it's to compensate for poor tacticions in cruisers and destroyers. If 12"-18" mains and 4"-6" secondaries are over penetrating their hulls that would cause flooding damage after it ....causes damage! BBs got nerfed across the board on that point alone. I still get water shots at 4km. This is supposed to be a shooter game not RNG bingo. I love hunting destroyers in my battle ships. It's rare they get the kill. My nemesis is the invisible cruiser they spot for.
You get more HP with Sims which is very clutch, while NJ is ultimately a damage booster which can fall flat if you suck at aiming or aren't getting those big hits. Plus Sims is easier to level cus he's free while NJ is an event Commander.

I overpenned the Yami’s bow side platting at close range and got nothing
This is genuinely such a well put together explanation, imagine the game had something like this for new players

I feel targeted
that was probably the most accurate salvo I’ve seen fired by a mutsu at the end…
LOL mutsu close range is horrendous
Japanese dispersion is weird. I swear, instead of a cone, it acts more like an oval
Idk why but they should honestly remove the invisible ship thing cuz it really pisses me off when a cruiser just sits there and spams HE shells
