@@WatchItPlayed Yes. I was lucky enough to play the retail demo a number of times already, but it didn't include the two expansions. It is a seriously great game and the way you portrayed the lawyers and grandstanding is EXACTLY how I have played it every time. It never gets old...at least to me. ;)
I think I was more excited to play this game after seeing this video than after backing the Kickstarter. Somehow your videos just continue to get better and you’re always my first stop for any board game how to’s. Thanks for all you do and for inspiring myself and others to always be gaming!
Saw this on your top 10 anticipated list with Tom and Zee and after hearing about it I immediately got psyched and wanted to play it too! Thanks Rodney!
My copy arrived today - my wife and I are really looking forward to shouting 'Objection' loudly enough to wake the kids! Great video - should definitely help us get up and running faster :)
I need to buy a whip with this so I can roleplay as Franziska Von Karma from Ace Attorney. Thanks for the great guide! As a big Ace Attorney, Law and Order and LegalEagle fan I'm looking forward to picking this one up when I can :)
Rodney, your Canadian is showing again... The prosecution represents the state trying the defendant for their crime. So if you lost, your "client" would not go to jail since they're the state... We love your passion!
The line of questioning aspect reminds me of a solo game called Arkham Noir that I've had a lot of fun with. I'm quite intrigued by this one. Thanks Rodney 👍
Easily one of the most interesting themes for a game I've ever seen. I only have one concern though: what would you say the balance is between roleplay and mechanics here? I would hate this to be a dry, purely mechanic-driven card game, but I also wouldn't want the whole "play the lawyer" thing to feel forced, if you know what I mean.
The mechanics are the core of the game, but we tried to bake in as much theme as possible for people to run with if they want to, but without it getting in the way of those who don't.
Oh yeah, I get what you mean for sure. That said, I'm not sure I can help much there as I would avoid trying to assess the balance for another person, because it's going to be so subjective. What I find to be dry vs. thematic could be quite different from someone else.
This looks super cool! I'd actually get this, but I already spent some cash getting Final Girl from your review. Maybe later I will. Thanks for the review though!
Your videos are awesome Rodney! I gotta wonder how many games you've helped sell over, in particular, the past year. I've got a couple that my family/social bubble really enjoy!
Rodney I love your channel! Our family has bought and learned so many games because of you! Thanks for being you! I was wondering, any way you would do the matchbook games? Eiyo is a bit confusing. Thanks!
@@WatchItPlayed Oh, i can't find it. I found it during gameplay on the effect of the card "Counter Argument". the effect says: "If the top of your opponent's examination deck is an argument, discard it
@@notcreativewithnames2625 I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. That said, in this case, the effect is not saying to discard their entire examination deck (what you wrote in your first comment), just the top card there. And then yes, you'd reduce the influence by its value. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the tutorial Rodney. A bit late, but I love the new style of the videos. I appreciate your hard work to continually improve the channel. I thought of the movie "Liar Liar "for some reason, and it made me want to discard the buried evidence face-up as a variant. 🤣
Solo Mode: Does the Automa ignore matching biases when adding cards to its examination? Does the Automa gain influence when adding a card? If yes, does the influence have to be its color or neutral? Since the Automa is adding cards, does it ignore card effects? Does the Automa object my argument if I am already at 5 or more influence? Does the Automa ignore the victory and defeat conditions on their examination and witness cards?
Hey Dane, I didn’t cover the solo mode, so I’m not able to help there. You might want to check the Board Game Geek website to see if others have asked there and gotten answers.
Ive seen the playthrough of mansion of madness and it looks like playing with rodney is a lot of fun. Therefore I think the Rodney variant should be the rule.
@@WatchItPlayed My pleasure! It's fun to get into the theme when playing something. but around here I'm told i'm a weirdo :P I especially like to make voices in games like near and far :D
Hey, thanks for the interest. I tend to avoid giving personalized recommendations. What I like, someone else might not - but I was certainly happy to be able to share this look at the game play so you could see if it piques your interests!
I would have loved to get an outcome statement provided by the game. I do see the game as a story telling game but an outcome at the end, one for each side, would have helped me get more involved. The case just ended for us. We did have a good time role playing but we didnt have a closing statement from the game.
Here's a scenario: If I play an evidence card that states "Examine: +2 Value for each evidence card currently in your examination." Do I get +2 Value from the evidence card I just played that triggered this effect?
I’m about to play my first game and in the rulebook it just says when A witness is called the player who call the witness as the primary value to their influence and the Player who did not call the witness adds the secondary value. It does not say that you do not collect the secondary value if it’s not in your color
You don't add the value if it's not your color. I'm not sure what you're looking at in your rule book, but this video has it correct (we work with the publisher who also checks it over before it goes live - sometimes a mistake can still happen, but there's not a mistake in this case). In the rules on Page 19, you'll also see an example confirming this. Hope that helps.
I believe the game is actually called Lawyer Cup :P
