  • No talk, no music, this one is for the guys that like to hear tractors and equipment at work. It was a beautiful October day, even though soil conditions were a little wetter than I would like them to be.

    Having watched you for over a year I think I'm getting to know your fields pretty well. Combine miss haps, Hermon getting stuck etc. Wishing I could be behind the wheel. Maybe next season.

      That spot seems to be my new bad spot. Used to be it was at what we call the Bush farm, one of the farthest away fields. Seems like something would always break over there. Apparently I jinxed it by telling too many people and it had to move.

    Hi Chris, big fan of the channel. Did you ever get the 2-155 on the dyno after the rebuild with the military pistons and sleeves. Also, did the 2050’s and 2150’s have their own tubs. Asking for someone who has an idea about an Oliver 2155 :)

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same tub. The 2-155 has front and rear frame extensions that bolt on. I've been thinking of doing the same project.

      @@ThatOliverGuyChris I was thinking of using a 2-105 rear end and build it to 1955 specs. That way, I’d have a trunnion coupling, and the late 55 series hydraulic cooler pump like your 18 and 1955 have. Plus, using a 2-105, my gearing would be fine since the 354 and the 478 have the same rated speed . I’d probably use an engine from a 2-135 for a 2155, and pull the turbo and de-tune for a 2055. If I use a 20/2155 clutch assembly I should be able to find a pto power shaft that works. Then it’s a matter of finding a hood and tin that’ll fit. Alternatively, I could use a 2-150 trans/rear end and I’d have the external planetaries that the 2150 has. But I’d be hooped on the gearing.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardrindy345 I was thinking a 2255 rear end. Gearing would be different there, but 'I think swapping out the range gears should take care of that. I think I'd want the outboard planetaries so it looks like the pictures. Which makes me wonder if they were going to offer a regular axle with the new 2155. I also wonder if they ever built up as 2055. I agree, sheet metal might be the biggest hurdle.

  • @lukestrasser
    @lukestrasser 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Chris, are you still pleased with the rebuild and conversion to high compression pistons on the 2-155? Seem to be settling in for oil consumption following its break in and first oil change?

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm very happy with it. Starts great, no blowby, and no oil consumption. I only had to top off the oil in the first 10 hours. I need to get it on the dyno and see what it is making now that it has about 150 hours on it.

    Hi Chris I have a 1969 oliver 550 and I am wondering how to Get the friction disc out to replace it

      The one on the 3 lever?

    • @kadegrove5633
      @kadegrove5633 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatOliverGuyChris it's only got one lever for the three point. I should have been more specific

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a friction disc for the throttle too, and I see now where I forgot to add the word "point" after three, sorry about that. The one for the 3 point has a nut and a spring that hold it on the shaft and apply tension to the friction disc. Problem is that outer part that needs to come off is aluminum and galvanic action corrodes it onto the steel shaft. Take the nut and spring off and get some penetrating oil in there. It will probably take some heat on the aluminum part to get it to break free. Keep working at it is my best advice, and put some anti-seize on it when you reassemble.

    Chris, those one set of wheel on the drill, are they supposed to move back an forth like that? Our old grain drill was a JD Van Brunt 13ft, solid frame. Seeded a lot of acres with it, was very reliable for us. Cheers :)

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They wiggle some once they are down and almost all the weight is off them. The wheels are on a steel tube that slides inside another tube to go up and down. There's a roller on the back side of the tube that keeps them from wiggling when the weight is on them and a plastic bushing on the front for when they are down. I need to get new plastic pieces.

    I’m curious, does a White tractor run a White motor, or how about those Oliver’s?

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 2-155 used a Hercules, and White owned Hercules at the time, so that one is a yes. The 4-225 is a Cat 3208, so ano on that one. The waukesha engines used in many of the Olivers was a joint effort between Oliver and Waukesha, so I count those as a yes. So a little of both.

      Our beans came off a few weeks ago at 17 percent(normal for around here), and we just disked in our stubble last weekend(not dusty, but surprised by how dry it was).
